Chapter 3235: Saving Bai Ze's Love Record (Zero Egg) 36
Bai Ze looked at Yi Qi; the hatred in his eyes, at the moment of facing his lover, seemed to turn into pain. He raised his hand, his fingertip lightly brushing over Yi Qi's moist eye corner, the motion so gentle, so slow, feeling his own heart also sinking in the same direction.
This gesture should have been tender, but now, falling between them, it left only unspeakable pain.
Yi Qi's reason collapsed at that moment.
How absurd. Yi Qi wished this were a nightmare; he wished he were still passed out on the sofa in that private room, knowing nothing. How could he accept that the enemy who killed Bai Ze's parents was actually his mother?
Sailinna, obviously also seeing this from behind, felt her anger rise; she was unwilling to let her precious Ailinuo continue entangled with the people of Mamen Institute.
"Ailinuo, listen to me: this person approached you only for the X potion, and now it's for revenge…"
"I know." Yi Qi interrupted her.
Yi Qi reached out and grabbed Bai Ze's wrist, heading toward the door: "Come on, come with me."
He gave a hard pull.
Bai Ze, however, did not move; instead, he ever so slightly and slowly shook his head in Yi Qi's direction.
Yi Qi's heart felt as if clenched tightly, a phantom pain he hadn't felt in ages spreading from his chest to his throat, making him barely able to breathe: "Brother… please… come with me."
Just then, the lights in the private room suddenly went out.
The darkness came without warning, swallowing everyone's sight.
In the chaos, Chenshu grabbed Sailinna.
Jin Chen, feeling his way in the dark, opened the private room door, seized Yi Qi and shoved him out: "Get out!"
He also, as an afterthought, tapped him on the head.
Yi Qi grunted in pain, instinctively shouting, "... Bai Ze!"
Bai Ze turned sharply in the dark, following that sound, he rushed a few steps forward, seeing nothing, relying only on his ears to judge direction as he chased out the door.
Jin Chen slammed the door shut, isolating the two outside. Chenshu flipped the main power back on, and the private room brightened again.
Jin Chen clapped his hands, "Great, finally separated."
Sailinna's expression shifted from shock to anger; without a word she raised her hand to strike him, but Chenshu seized her wrist.
Chenshu: "Your husband sits there doing nothing—what right do you have to hit my husband? That's utterly unreasonable."
Sailinna: "…"
She choked, turned her head, and glared fiercely at Jin Junhao.
Jin Junhao had just relaxed, patting his chest to catch his breath, but her gaze made his spine tighten; he hurriedly stood and walked over, patting her back to soothe her while whispering something. Sailinna snorted, lowered her hand, but her eyes remained fixed on Jin Chen.
Jin Chen stood by the door, back against the panel, pinching his brow: "Is there really no misunderstanding? Did you really kill the Bai parents?"
Sailinna was still fuming, refusing to answer.
Chenshu glanced at her, confirming she wouldn't continue attacking, then said: "As far as I know, Yi Qi no longer has the X potion."
Sailinna suddenly looked at him warily, "What do you mean?"
"Before coming to Area Four, I made a trip to Area Thirteen."
Chenshu said calmly, "I pulled up all the medical records for Yi Qi and Bai Ze from that area; if I haven't guessed wrong, that X potion… Yi Qi has already given it to Bai Ze."
Sailinna took a while before she finally reacted.
Ailinuo, her heartless son from childhood, actually gave the life-saving potion to Bai Ze.
——
At the other end of the hallway, Yi Qi dragged Bai Ze, stumbling, back to his own room. He wanted to lock the door, but his fingers kept trembling; he didn't turn the lock, just shoved the door shut, then turned and leaned against the panel, standing for a few seconds with ragged, irregular breathing, his chest heaving violently.
Yi Qi felt he needed to calm down, but he was simply too panicked.
He could accept that Bai Ze had come for the X potion, and even accept that Bai Ze initially approached him with an ulterior motive.
But… but how could there be such hatred? What should he do?
Yi Qi closed his eyes; all the images of his time with Bai Ze crowded together, making his temples throb, his vision darkening in waves, his whole body sliding down the panel to slump weakly on the floor, beginning to tremble.
Bai Ze's heart ached as if being pulled downward; he walked over cautiously, crouched, and loosely wrapped his arms around Yi Qi's shoulders, "Xiaoqi…"
Yi Qi kept his head down, his throat feeling blocked, unable to breathe or speak; he could only lift his hand, grip Bai Ze's collar, pull him close, and press their lips together.
Bai Ze lowered his head and returned the kiss. This kiss carried a salty tear flavor, impossible to tell whose.
Bai Ze gently patted his back, over and over, and after a long while Yi Qi's breathing gradually steadied, his complexion no longer deathly pale.
He lifted his face to look at Bai Ze; there was still little color in his face, his lips reddish from the forceful kiss, his voice hoarse: "You dazed me, just to go… take revenge."
"And after the revenge?" Yi Qi's throat tightened, "... what do you plan to do."
Bai Ze averted his gaze.
The answer to that question had weighed on him for many days, but when the moment came to speak it, he found he was still afraid.
Bai Ze's eyes were blood-red, half-crouched, embracing Yi Qi's body as if about to collapse, "Xiaoqi… I don't want you to hate me."
"So even if… I die."
Hum—
Yi Qi's mind went blank; all sound was drowned by a sharp tinnitus, overwhelming his hearing, he could hear nothing else—only those two words rebounding against his eardrums.
He stared at Bai Ze, fear and panic flashing in his eyes, his inner self screaming silently.
Bai Ze, however, continued speaking, his voice low, a self‑loathing frankness, as if he had long prepared to say these things to Yi Qi's face.
"It's my fault; I lured you into loving me, and after learning your identity I also didn't dare tell you the truth—I'm despicable…"
Bai Ze's gaze sank; he lifted his eyes to Yi Qi: "Xiaoqi, you can kill me."
Yi Qi looked at him, the corner of his mouth twitching into an arc uglier than a sob.
He lifted his face; the tears he had been holding finally spilled, streaming down his cheeks.
"So, brother…" he gave a small laugh, tears tracing the corners of his mouth inward, "Do you want me to lose my kin once more, and then lose my love again?"
