Chapter 139: Body Temperature Warming Her Bit by Bit
Qi Qi curiously looked back.
Zhu Yuan hurriedly covered her ears and rushed to take her away; how could a child listen to such things?
Yuan Fengye had arrived as well.
As soon as he saw Sheng Yu and Qi Jing, he jumped out of the car, "Yu Ge, what happened? I heard the Dong Family was in an uproar and even went to the Hot Spring Villa to block you?"
"Dong Shu drugged Yu Ge, and in turn, was fed the medicine by Yu Ge." Qi Jing explained a few things to him simply, naturally including the part about the male escort.
Even though Yuan Fengye was quite the playboy, he was shocked to hear this, "You're saying Dong Shu drugged Yu Ge? Is she crazy? What does she want to do!"
Zhu Yuan had not gone far when she heard that cold, clear voice say leisurely: "She wants to possess me."
A flash of disbelief crossed Qi Jing's gentle eyes; so this was Yu Ge's approach.
It took Yuan Fengye several minutes to digest the cause and effect of this matter.
He stood there stunned; the fact that Zhu Yuan was Yu Ge's woman had already made him feel like the sky was collapsing. But he never expected that tomboy Dong Shu to actually like Yu Ge?
No wonder Dong Shu always liked to argue with him, and every time it reached the end, she would resort to hitting him. He knew that only Yu Ge could handle that tomboy Dong Shu, so every time he was beaten, he would hide behind Yu Ge.
And Dong Shu was actually doing it to find an opportunity to get close to Yu Ge!
Yuan Fengye slapped his forehead hard and let out a long sigh; he really didn't know whether to call Dong Shu pure-hearted or stupid.
"If I hadn't suddenly left last night because of something, Dong Shu wouldn't have had the chance..."
Speaking of this, Yuan Fengye suddenly paused.
He let out a breath, "So that's how it was."
Qi Jing frowned, "What is it?"
Sheng Yu lit a cigarette, his gaze falling on the figures of the one big and one small person walking away.
The snow at the Qi Family Manor had been cleared away. It didn't feel very cold on a snowy day. Qi Qi acted spoiled and asked Zhu Yuan to accompany her on the swing. Zhu Yuan held her as they sat down, tapped her toes on the ground, and the swing began to sway.
Her long hair was lifted by the wind, and Sheng Yu bit the cigarette filter, squinting his eyes.
Those strands of hair were just like how they floated on the surface of the hot spring pool last night, swaying on the water with the rocking motion.
Yuan Fengye suddenly realized and let out a scoff, "Wasn't I drinking with Yu Ge last night? After Dong Shu arrived, I received a call from a girl who used to be with me, saying she was pregnant and in the hospital. I was afraid of a tragedy, so I rushed over. Who knew it was a false alarm; she wasn't pregnant at all. After I pressed her, she confessed that someone gave her money to pretend to be pregnant and call me."
"I was wondering who was so bored; now it seems it was Dong Shu's doing. She wanted to get me out of the way so she could get to Yu Ge."
After he finished speaking, he suddenly felt a cold gaze fall upon him.
Sheng Yu flicked the ash from his cigarette, "Watch your mouth."
Yuan Fengye clicked his tongue; wasn't this what he just said himself?
However, he and Qi Jing had known Sheng Yu since they were children, and Dong Shu had joined them later. They felt at most a sense of friendship toward Dong Shu, and only felt that what she did to Sheng Yu was too stupid and too radical, so they had nothing to say about her ending up like this.
"The Dong Family won't let this rest," Qi Jing said.
Yuan Fengye echoed, "That's right, Yu Ge, you have to be mentally prepared. You know how much Dong Mingchang treasures Dong Shu."
"What, so I deserved to be drugged and am not allowed to fight back?" Sheng Yu sneered coldly.
Sheng Yu was in the right on this matter, but the Dong Family only cared about the result.
However, seeing Sheng Yu's reaction, Yuan Fengye and Qi Jing realized that the Dong Family had only gone to block Sheng Yu at the Hot Spring Villa in a moment of impulse; now that they had calmed down, how could they dare to act rashly?
From over there came the silver-bell-like laughter of Qi Qi.
Yuan Fengye followed the laughter and looked over, "Qi Qi really seems to like her sister-in-law."
Qi Jing nodded, "I see Zhu Yuan likes Qi Qi very much too; she seems to really like children."
Sheng Yu extinguished his cigarette, "You two go inside first."
As he spoke, he strode with his long legs toward the flower house.
Zhu Yuan didn't expect Qi Qi to start reciting the Book of Songs at such a young age.
When she reached "Guan Ju," she tilted her little head and asked in confusion: "Auntie Yuanyuan, what is a 'fair, virtuous lady' and a 'gentleman's good mate'?"
"I know a virtuous lady means a girl, but what is a gentleman?"
Zhu Yuan gently pinched her chubby little face, thought for a moment, and said: "Someone like your father is a gentleman."
"Do you know her father that well to say he is a gentleman?"
A cold, clear voice came from behind.
Zhu Yuan frowned and was about to pick up Qi Qi and leave.
Suddenly, a large hand pressed down on the ropes of the swing, and warm fingertips brushed against her cold hands, whether intentionally or not.
She subconsciously pulled her hand back.
Sheng Yu looked down at her from above and said to Qi Qi: "Qi Qi, your father is looking for you."
"Oh?" Qi Qi looked up at Zhu Yuan and said very politely, "Auntie Yuanyuan, I'm going to find my father now, excuse me."
She slid off Zhu Yuan's lap in one motion and was led away by a servant holding her hand.
He even used the servant.
Zhu Yuan darkened her eyes and stood up to leave, but the swing she was sitting on suddenly began to sway. She let out a cry of surprise and subconsciously grabbed the ropes on both sides.
The swing swayed, and it went higher and higher. Zhu Yuan felt as if she were about to be thrown off; how could she dare to jump down?
The arc of the swaying became smaller and smaller.
The man's deep voice sounded above her head, "Qi Jing is looking for his daughter, why are you leaving? Just because he is a gentleman?"
"I'm cold, I want to go inside," Zhu Yuan said irritably.
Suddenly, two warm hands wrapped around her hands that were gripping the ropes. The movement couldn't be called gentle, but it wasn't brutal either; it was a tight, airtight embrace.
"Still cold?" Sheng Yu stared at her momentarily unnatural expression.
Zhu Yuan's hands struggled, "I'm freezing, I'm not swinging, I want to go inside."
Sheng Yu first stabilized the swaying swing, then released her hands.
Once she gained her freedom, Zhu Yuan immediately stood up from the swing.
However, before she had even walked two steps, the man's voice came from behind her, "I will help you deal with the person who beat up Zhu Jingyao."
Zhu Yuan's footsteps paused.
She continued walking forward.
Sheng Yu's face darkened; she had been tricked by him once and was unwilling to trust him again.
"I have already sent people to investigate who beat up Zhu Jingyao."
Zhu Yuan stopped her footsteps again.
She turned her head and was surprised to see Sheng Yu take a long stride, sit on the swing, and raise an eyebrow at her, "Come over here and push me."
At this moment, the sky had already gradually darkened.
There was still accumulated snow on the shrubs and the lawn, illuminated by the dim sky to cast a faint blue glow, setting off the man's brows and eyes as dark as ink, like a person in a painting.
But his eyebrow-raising gesture really could not be considered that of a decent person.
——How old are you, anyway?
These words almost slipped out, but Zhu Yuan held back, walked behind Sheng Yu, took a look, braced her hands against his back, and gave a hard push.
It didn't budge.
The man chuckled, "No strength?"
Zhu Yuan's face flushed with embarrassment and anger; she gritted her teeth, and only after looking down did she see Sheng Yu's feet planted on the ground—no wonder she couldn't push him.
He was doing it on purpose.
Having been teased, she kept a cold face, lifted her feet, and walked away two steps.
But she was grabbed by the wrist and pulled back by Sheng Yu, and with one tug, he pulled her into his embrace to sit on his lap.
"No wonder you're not tall; your temper is so big, it's stunted your growth."
Inside his open overcoat, through the cashmere sweater, was a warm chest; Sheng Yu's body heat was warming her bit by bit.
The swing began to sway gently.
