Chapter 147: I Don't Want It Anymore

~8 min read 1,546 words

The clothes on her body were torn.

They were already somewhat torn before he made his move.

The man seemed to only just remember now that, before this, she had nearly been violated on the top floor and had fought through a brush with death to make it to this point.

And he had almost forced himself upon her just a moment ago.

Looking at her eyes, which were as waveless as a dead sea, Sheng Yu's hand, with its bulging veins, was trembling.

He gripped Zhu Yuan as if clutching a kite string; outside, a gale was raging, and this taut string could be snapped by the wind at any moment, leaving him behind.

Subconsciously, he gripped tighter, refusing to let go even as his taut knuckles were nearly crushed.

It was just like back then, when he had desperately charged into the sea of fire to grab his mother's hem, begging her to open her eyes and look at him, to come with him, refusing and not daring to let go.

"Zhu Yuan..."

"Let me go, Sheng Yu." Zhu Yuan interrupted his words.

She kept her head lowered as if she had nothing else to say to him, always only this one sentence.

A scalding tear fell onto the back of Sheng Yu's hand.

The woman's low, humble, pleading words left Sheng Yu's body completely stiff and cold, "It was my fault for intruding into your world; even if I truly die at someone's hands in the future, it is not your fault, it is my own doing..."

"Shut up!" Sheng Yu pinched her shoulders, lifted her into his arms, and stared into her eyes, "Have you thought this through?"

"No need to think." Zhu Yuan's three words were light as air.

Sheng Yu laughed at himself, his eyes bloodshot, his whole body radiating a baleful aura, "Fine."

He took three steps back, and just as he turned, the woman's soft voice reached his ears: "Thank you."

After Sheng Yu left, Zhu Yuan gripped her wrists tightly, staring blankly at the corner of the wall, and only left the hospital room after a long time.

Doctor Qiao Mai had also left; only Enzo remained where he was.

"Miss Zhu, if you want to blame someone, blame me. It was my fault for not protecting you well; it has nothing to do with Young Master Yu." Enzo was so self-reproachful he was nearly ready to kneel.

Zhu Yuan lowered her head, clutching her clothes, and shook her head, "It's not your business, Enzo. Even without these things, I don't want to live in lies and schemes. I lied to him, he schemed against me; such a twisted relationship should never have existed."

She walked forward, and Enzo followed her step by step.

"You don't need to follow me anymore from now on."

Enzo thought of how Sheng Yu had looked when he came out earlier—that crazed, sinister appearance—and felt an inexplicable sense of unease, but unable to say it to Zhu Yuan, he had to compromise: "Let me take you one last time."

The car drove toward the residential complex where Zhu Yuan rented a place.

Enzo thought for a moment and still said: "You don't need to be afraid. Every debt has its debtor; Young Master Yu had all the people from the Dong Family arrested, not because he wanted to kill them all, but to kill the chicken to warn the monkey, so that the people of the Dong Family wouldn't dare harbor any thoughts of revenge in the future. Young Master Yu's methods are a bit cruel, but this method is effective."

Zhu Yuan didn't speak; it was within reason, and Enzo could understand.

He sighed silently; if Young Master Yu could have had a complete childhood, perhaps his personality wouldn't have had flaws, and he wouldn't have turned a relationship that could have developed in a good direction into this.

The night was deep and quiet.

Outside the window, snow swirled and winds howled; Jingdu City had entered its coldest period.

Inside the study.

Secretary Jiang stood before the desk, "Chairman Sheng, Young Master Yu has withdrawn all the men protecting Zhu Yuan from the shadows, and even Enzo is no longer by Zhu Yuan's side. It looks like, just as you predicted, Zhu Yuan couldn't handle the pressure and had a falling out with Young Master Yu."

As if it were a gratifying matter, Secretary Jiang couldn't help but smile as he spoke.

The man behind the desk toyed with a string of Buddhist prayer beads on his fingertips and sneered upon hearing this, "I thought it was true love for Sheng Yu, but she couldn't even handle this little bit of pressure. Sheng Yu really misjudged her."

"Now that Zhu Yuan no longer has Young Master Yu's protection, it is the perfect time to strike." Secretary Jiang decided decisively.

Sheng Hongyao gripped the prayer beads in his palm, "A woman like that can no longer stir up any waves in his heart; what is the point of capturing her?"

Just as Sheng Hongyao's voice fell, a beast-like roar was heard from outside the villa.

With a loud bang, the villa's iron gate was rammed open, and the Bodyguards who stepped up to block the way were sent flying by the rapidly accelerating vehicle.

Sheng Hongyao looked out from the floor-to-ceiling window; black sedans were driving into the villa one after another, and the leading car didn't even show any sign of stopping, crashing directly into the villa's living room.

"It's Sheng Yu!" Sheng Hongyao threw the prayer beads in anger.

Suddenly, his expression changed, "Yijing!"

Downstairs, Shen Yijing, who was preparing a late-night snack for Sheng Hongyao in the kitchen, suddenly heard the loud noise and ran out of the kitchen in a fright, but just as she reached the living room, the roar of the car engine made her eardrums ache.

A car like a wild beast crashed into the living room, smashing through the sofa, coffee table, and vases, which shattered all over the floor.

The car door opened, and Sheng Yu, radiating a murderous aura, stepped out, grabbed her hair, and pressed her head onto the car's hood.

With a bang, she briefly lost consciousness.

The Bodyguards hidden around the villa mobilized, but they were still a step slower than Sheng Yu.

"Let go of Yijing!" Sheng Hongyao's face was livid as he quickly descended the stairs from the corner of the landing.

No matter how Shen Yijing struggled, Sheng Yu held her head down on the hood with one hand, his lips curled in a cold sneer, bloodthirsty and icy, "Want your mistress?"

He pulled out a gun, the muzzle pressed against Shen Yijing's head, and she screamed in terror: "Hongyao, Hongyao, save me!"

Sheng Hongyao's expression shifted, "Sheng Yu, you've gone mad!"

Sheng Yu said lightly: "Isn't this what you wanted to see—me going mad? What, now you know fear?"

"What are you doing? Let go of Yijing!" Sheng Hongyao tried to rush over to save Shen Yijing, when suddenly Sheng Yu fired a shot near his feet.

Sheng Hongyao's whole body stiffened; no matter how bad things had gotten before, Sheng Yu had never fired a gun at him!

"Do you want to commit patricide!"

"Never killed one before, want to try." Sheng Yu's smile was sinister.

Shen Yijing had already lost the strength to struggle; she was clamped by Sheng Yu's single hand, her face distorted by the pressure against the hood.

Sheng Yu suddenly threw Shen Yijing over.

Sheng Hongyao hurriedly caught her, soothing her gently: "Yijing, it's okay, don't be afraid, it's okay."

"Hongyao!" Shen Yijing burst into loud sobs.

Suddenly, Sheng Yu threw an exquisite box toward them.

The moment the box hit the ground, something like powder spilled out from inside, scattering all over the floor.

In her daze, Shen Yijing recognized what it was, and a cry broke from her throat as she shrieked, "My child!"

Sheng Hongyao stiffened all over; it was the ashes of his son who had died prematurely!

"Ah—"

Shaking all over, Sheng Hongyao snatched a pistol from a Bodyguard, but the moment he pulled back the safety, Sheng Yu shot him in the wrist!

He strode forward with long legs, walking closer step by step, the muzzle of his gun pressing toward Sheng Hongyao.

The villa's Bodyguards and the people Sheng Yu had brought were keeping each other in check.

"Sheng Yu!" Suddenly, an aged voice came from behind.

Something had happened to the Dong Family today, and the old lady of the Sheng Family had only found out what was going on after having someone inquire about it.

Previously, Dong Mingchang and Sheng Hongyao had been in close contact, and she had realized that Sheng Hongyao might be manipulating something behind the scenes; worried, she had rushed over overnight, never expecting that something would truly go wrong.

Leaning on her cane, the old lady of the Sheng Family walked over quickly, supported by the butler, and when she saw the state her grandson was in, she thought to herself that things were bad.

"A Yu, I have found your mother's belongings..."

"I don't want them anymore!" Sheng Yu's eyes were bloodshot.
