Chapter 166: Do You Understand What
When Sheng Yu arrived at the club, Yuan Fengye was being measured for a custom suit; who could have imagined the wedding was only three days away.
Tonight was his bachelor party.
The club was not hosting any other guests tonight; everyone present had been invited by Yuan Fengye.
Everyone else was playing outside, so it was quieter inside.
Seeing Sheng Yu arrive, Yuan Fengye gestured for the suit shop manager to stop, then turned his head. "Yu Ge."
Sheng Yu gave a grunt of acknowledgment and sat on the sofa, casually picking up a glass of wine Qi Jing had poured for him.
"You're really too indifferent about this wedding, only just now getting around to making a suit." Qi Jing looked up at Yuan Fengye.
Yuan Fengye scoffed, "A cheap wife picked up halfway, why would I need to care?"
After the measurements were taken, he rolled up his sleeves and said to the manager, "No specific requirements on the details, just one thing: the color must be green, a green so bright it makes one's heart panic."
The manager said awkwardly, "Young Master Yuan, no one wears a green suit to a wedding."
Yuan Fengye scoffed, "That's just because no one has worn one before; there's no rule saying you can't. I want green. Have someone send over a color card for me to look at later."
To say he didn't care, he was only making the suit today; to say he did, he insisted on picking the color himself.
Qi Jing shook his head helplessly, "Aren't you just deliberately trying to upset people?"
Yuan Fengye walked over, sat brazenly on the sofa, and crossed his legs. "As the saying goes, if you want to live a good life, you have to add a little green. How am I upsetting her? This is a surprise for her."
Sheng Yu remained silent, his fingers hooking the little green Hair Tie on his right wrist, one moment on, one moment off.
Perhaps it was because the spot where he sat was further from the light source, but his expression appeared somewhat gloomy.
Seeing that Qi Jing was about to speak again, Yuan Fengye said flippantly, "Isn't there also a saying—love is a beam of light, green enough to make you panic? This is my expression of love!"
Love?
Sheng Yu raised an eyebrow nonchalantly.
He had a mountain of twisted logic, and Qi Jing could only shake his head.
Yuan Fengye sat down beside Sheng Yu, just about to discuss some business matters with him, when he suddenly noticed the little green Hair Tie on Sheng Yu's right wrist.
He froze instantly, the mouthful of wine in his mouth nearly failing to go down.
With a gulp, he swallowed the wine and asked in surprise, "Yu Ge, are you in a relationship?"
He hadn't noticed when Sheng Yu wore the vermilion Hair Tie before, and Sheng Yu hadn't rolled up his sleeves to reveal the tie like he was doing now.
As soon as the words left his mouth, Qi Jing and the other few people in the private room all looked over in equal astonishment.
Ning Huaiqing had just walked in and spotted Sheng Yu immediately; hearing this, her footsteps faltered, then she walked in as if nothing had happened, sat on a sofa to the side, and listened quietly.
Sheng Yu gave a grunt of acknowledgment, his expression as usual, "Zhu Yuan gave it to me."
As the words fell, someone in the private room gasped.
Who would have thought that someone of Sheng Yu's status and position would actually act like a young person in love, wearing his girlfriend's little Hair Tie on his wrist to declare that he was taken?
It was simply shocking!
"Didn't you two break up?" Yuan Fengye was even more surprised.
Sheng Yu slowly and methodically pulled down his sleeve, as if the little Hair Tie on his wrist were some rare treasure not to be shown to others casually, and that just now had been merely an unintentional act.
He lifted his eyelids, "When did we break up?"
Yuan Fengye muttered in a low voice, "A few days ago, you were still calling Zhu Yuan your ex-girlfriend."
"Do you understand what 'flirtatious fun' is?"
Yuan Fengye looked at Sheng Yu, his brain unable to process this for a moment; who could have imagined that the man who used to stay away from women and was cold and heartless would actually say the words "flirtatious fun."
That night, Enzo sat in the car, crossing his long legs and humming a little tune.
Ever since Miss Zhu "returned" to Young Master Yu's side, his days had been better than ever.
He could continue to openly follow Miss Zhu to protect her, instead of racking his brains to find excuses to get close to her.
Seeing Zhu Yuan come out from the back door, Enzo immediately pulled back his long legs, pushed open the car door to get out, and opened the rear passenger door.
He said with a smile, "Miss Zhu, you must be tired."
Zhu Yuan looked at his face, which was smiling like a sunflower, and sighed, "Are you that happy?"
Enzo knew what she was referring to. After she got in the car and he closed the door, he walked around the front of the car to the driver's seat, starting the engine as he said, "Young Master Yu treats me like a brother, and you are the only person besides him and Tu Ge who truly treats me as a friend. Of course I'm happy to be able to protect you."
The car drove away from the theater.
"Young Master Yu is attending Young Master Yuan's bachelor party tonight. I wonder if he'll drink too much. Would you like to go find him?" Enzo asked, quietly glancing at the rearview mirror to gauge Zhu Yuan's expression.
Yet Zhu Yuan remained unmoved: "No."
Enzo sighed, knowing that Zhu Yuan still hadn't accepted Young Master Yu.
He said, "Young Master Yu did a lot regarding Zhu Jingyao's case. You probably don't know that he acted as a guarantor, which is why Zhu Jingyao was able to get his sentence reduced by so many days, right?"
Zhu Yuan froze, "What did you say?"
Enzo said bluntly, "I said Young Master Yu acted as a guarantor for Zhu Jingyao; he wanted you to be able to see your brother sooner."
Zhu Yuan's heart suddenly went numb.
She bit her lower lip tightly, her gaze retracting in a panic, and she caught sight of Enzo in the rearview mirror, their eyes meeting unexpectedly.
She hurriedly withdrew her gaze and said with feigned composure, "I know now."
The car drove into the residential complex where Zhu Yuan lived.
Enzo didn't leave until he had dropped her off at her door.
Zhu Yuan pushed open the door, heavy with thoughts, and suddenly saw that the lights were on in the living room.
She subconsciously thought of Sheng Yu; had he returned early from the bachelor party, and knowing she wouldn't go to him, was he now waiting for her like a rabbit waiting for a tree stump?
However, she saw a pair of dark brown knee-high boots by her feet.
A woman's shoes.
At this moment, a clattering noise came from the kitchen.
Zhu Yuan was startled and hurriedly gripped the doorknob; just as she was about to open the door and run out, a tall woman ran out of the kitchen holding a spatula.
The woman had her long hair tied into a low ponytail, her features were exquisite and elegant, a slim-fit knitted short dress outlined her hot figure to perfection, and a black leather belt cinched a slender waist that could be spanned by a single hand.
She was clearly a beauty with a sophisticated temperament, yet for some unknown reason, she looked flustered.
The moment she saw Zhu Yuan, she took a deep breath, raised her hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, and said calmly, "I made you some late-night snacks, want to eat?"
Zhu Yuan looked at the woman's face, which had thinned down, and felt a sting in her nose, "Is it edible?"
"The presentation is a bit ugly, but I tasted it and the flavor is fine; it's fit for human consumption."
Hearing this, Zhu Yuan had an ominous premonition, but she still indulged her and said, "Bring it over."
One minute later, Zhu Yuan sat at the dining table, looking at a bowl of mushy noodles in front of her.
According to Song Ci, this was a bowl of noodle soup.
There were only noodles, no soup.
She sighed, picked up her chopsticks, and took a bite of the noodles; before she could even taste them, she heard Song Ci say abruptly, "Yuan, I'm getting married, in three days."
