Chapter 310: How Could I Possibly Be Jealous of Him?

~9 min read 1,697 words

Zhu Yuan's feelings were very complicated.

If it weren't for her brother helping Sheng Hongyao, so many things wouldn't have happened between her and Sheng Yu.

But looking at it from another angle, if not for this incident, Sheng Yu would never have understood the importance of honesty; he would still be as he was before, acting arbitrarily, doing only what he deemed right, all under the guise of what was best for her and for the stability of their relationship, without considering her feelings.

Then, one day in the future, this problem would still have erupted.

It's just that with her brother involved in this matter, the nature of it changed.

"Brother, how did you find this place?" Zhu Yuan was not entirely at ease.

First Sheng Yu found her, then her brother found her; was this place no longer safe?

Sheng Yu said there was still one Yu Weixiong left to deal with, and the others were just small fry that could be uprooted later.

If this place wasn't safe anymore, did she have to leave?

To be honest, she liked this place very much; after living here for a few months, she was used to it, and if she had to leave, she would really be a bit reluctant.

"Your phone's location tracking," Zhu Jingyao admitted frankly, "The process was a bit troublesome."

Zhu Yuan nodded; her brother could do everything to the best of his ability, and no matter what he studied, there was nothing he couldn't master.

"At first I could only track it to Licheng, then the day before yesterday to the outskirts of Licheng. Although I hadn't pinpointed your exact location yet, I wanted to find you sooner, and this area isn't easy to search, until I..."

As Zhu Jingyao spoke, his gaze swept toward the two sides of the courtyard gate, at that pair of couplets framed by Pei Ling.

Zhu Yuan vaguely sensed something was wrong, but by the time she reacted, it was already too late.

"Alright, you don't have to..."

"Such ugly handwriting, I recognized it at a glance."

When Zhu Yuan was very young, he often corrected her pen-holding posture and taught her how to control the pen, but she never had the patience and refused to calm down to write; whenever she acted like a spoiled child, his heart would soften.

So much so that she wrote with a chicken-scratch hand.

"I told you to stop talking!"

Let the earth explode!

Seeing Zhu Yuan's face, which had flushed red in a moment of embarrassment and anger, Zhu Jingyao felt his anxious heart relax a lot.

It was indeed as Sheng Yu said; what he feared most was that they would end up not even being able to be siblings.

He knew the girl he had held in the palm of his hand since childhood too well, and he knew exactly what her personality was like; his persistence would only make them drift further apart.

So he chose to let go, so that at least they could maintain a sibling relationship.

No longer persistent.

They were family, a fact no one could change.

What's more, for a man like Sheng Yu who fought and snatched, and who had such a sharp mind, he, Zhu Jingyao, had lived for nearly thirty years and was admitting defeat for the first time.

Zhu Jingyao opened the car door and looked back at Zhu Yuan; she stood under the streetlamp, her features as exquisite as a painting.

"Go back inside."

A trace of reluctance suddenly arose in Zhu Yuan's heart, as if she had returned to the past in an instant; that was the first time she was going to be separated from her brother for a long time because he was going to Kyoto to attend university. She couldn't bear to part with her brother, crying secretly in her room, her eyes red, following pitifully behind the adults.

Her brother turned around, walked through the crowd to her, ruffled her hair, and said the same thing: Go back inside.

"Brother..." Zhu Yuan's footsteps moved slightly, and she raised her hand to wave at Zhu Jingyao.

But she would not let her brother stay.

The people in the courtyard heard the sound of the car starting from afar.

Pei Ling sneered lightly, "You're quite magnanimous."

"I can't exactly grab my brother-in-law and beat him up." Sheng Yu was very mature and calm, looking like he had made the decision after careful consideration.

Pei Ling didn't believe a word of it.

Just as he sneered, a fishy, salty taste suddenly surged in his throat, and he suppressed the strange sensation with an expressionless face.

The courtyard gate opened, and Zhu Yuan came in from outside with red eyes.

Both of their bodies moved at the same time.

Pei Ling's breathing was slightly disordered; he clenched his fingers and stood where he was, his nails digging into his flesh.

Sheng Yu had already taken long strides to Zhu Yuan's side and took her hand, "Sheng Yu Ge is still here."

Zhu Yuan glared at him helplessly and amusedly.

"You haven't called me that?" Sheng Yu raised his eyebrows slightly.

Zhu Yuan hurriedly covered his mouth.

Sheng Yu took the opportunity to pull her into his arms and lowered his head to kiss her eyes, "Be good, don't let your emotions fluctuate too much. You just spent a lot of energy yelling at everyone, so you need to rest well."

What a "yelling at everyone."

Zhu Yuan realized too late that everyone in the courtyard had heard, and by the time she reacted, it was already too late.

But fortunately, after she came in, Pei Ling and Pei Li and the others went back inside.

She simply sat down at the stone table generously and ate the watermelon Sheng Yu had cut into small pieces for her.

Stabbing them with a toothpick, one small piece per bite was just right; it was practically tailor-made for the size of her mouth.

When she realized how precisely Sheng Yu had grasped the dimensions, Zhu Yuan's cheeks felt slightly hot.

How could he not know the size of her mouth? She slept with him last night, was kissed again and again before sleep, kissed again when she got up in the night and lay back in bed, kissed when she woke up in the morning, and kissed again after brushing her teeth.

"Why are you blushing from eating watermelon?" Sheng Yu poured himself another cup of tea.

"Don't you read up on pregnancy knowledge? Don't you know pregnant women are afraid of heat?"

She ate a few mouthfuls and stopped; watermelon had high sugar content, and she would soon have to take a glucose tolerance test for her pregnancy, so she couldn't consume too much and affect the results.

In the evening, after Sheng Yu finished showering, the doctor changed the Medicine on his waist and abdominal wounds.

After the doctor left, Zhu Yuan entered the room and found that Sheng Yu still hadn't put his clothes on.

Sheng Yu stared straight at her.

She walked over, picked up the short-sleeved shirt from the sofa, and handed it to him, "Do you need me to help you put it on?"

"May I?"

Hearing this affected, coy tone, Zhu Yuan curled her lips, "Sit still."

Sheng Yu's eyes and brows held a smile as he sat still, fully cooperating.

The moment Zhu Yuan pulled the collar of the short-sleeved shirt over his head, Sheng Yu pulled her into a full embrace, leaving the shirt stuck around his neck like a white scarf.

Sheng Yu didn't mind in the slightest, looking up at her, "Why are you so willing to spoil me?"

"As a reward for you not being jealous for no reason today." Zhu Yuan hugged him back, looking at him, liking him more the more she looked, and lowered her head to kiss his forehead firmly, "You must be like this from now on, don't go around being jealous."

"He is your brother, how could I be jealous of him? Besides, everything is in the past."

Hearing this, a wave of guilt washed over Zhu Yuan; she couldn't help but hug him tighter, lowering her head to kiss him again and again, "Why are you so well-behaved?"

Sheng Yu gritted his back teeth, but could only endure it; it wasn't easy to get a kiss from her.

He pulled Zhu Yuan down into his arms; Zhu Yuan felt the heat from his chest and remembered he hadn't finished putting on his shirt, so she turned to help him dress.

As it turned out, Sheng Yu grabbed her hand and guided it to his chest.

There was a scar left behind by a gunshot there.

It was back when Pei Ling, Sheng Hongyao, and Shen Yijing besieged the Hot Spring Villa, and Sheng Hongyao's secretary had taken advantage of the chaos to shoot him.

Whenever Zhu Yuan thought about how he was the most innocent person in that incident, having suffered such a severe injury yet never taking it out on her brother, she couldn't stop her heart from aching.

"Does it still hurt?" she asked in a soft voice.

Sheng Yu felt his heart soften, putting on a look of having let it go, and said with a smile, "It's already in the past, it doesn't hurt."

Zhu Yuan's heartache was practically overflowing from her eyes as she lowered her head and gently kissed the scar on his chest.

A sensation softer than a feather spread across his chest, and Sheng Yu felt his whole body go numb as if struck by electricity.

He gripped Zhu Yuan's arms, lifted her up, and his gaze was like a torch, "With a touch like that, it actually does hurt a little."

Sheng Yu acted as if he were truly in pain, pursing his lips; Zhu Yuan stared at him, then suddenly cupped his face and leaned in to kiss his lips.

"How about now, does it still hurt?"

Sheng Yu chased after her lips and said hoarsely, "Still a little bit; how about you kiss me again?"
