Chapter 311: Patiently Wait for Him for a Few Days
Zhu Yuan was so entangled by him that her bones felt soft, and her consciousness began to slip out of her control.
If Sheng Yu wanted to kiss, she would kiss; if he wanted to hear her call him Yu Ge, she would call him that, losing every bit of her backbone.
But Sheng Yu was wary that this was Pei Ling's place, so at most, he just pestered Zhu Yuan for kisses; besides, the courtyard was filled inside and out with skilled martial artists, and even the slightest movement would be heard.
Not to mention that the little one in Zhu Yuan's belly was like a radar; as soon as they kissed, he would start making a fuss, but as soon as they stopped, the little one would go still.
By the end of the kissing, Sheng Yu was both angry and amused.
"The doctor said it's a boy?" Sheng Yu held Zhu Yuan in his arms.
Zhu Yuan gave a hum, turned over to look at him, and asked, "Why does your tone sound like you want to beat him up?"
Sheng Yu laughed, "Don't say it so bluntly, he'll understand."
"Then I'll cover his ears." As she spoke, Zhu Yuan placed both hands over her protruding belly, just as she did when scolding Zhu Jingyao.
Sheng Yu was amused by her cleverness and pulled her into his arms again, "Was it like this when you scolded Zhu Jingyao before?"
Zhu Yuan nodded, "I know I cursed a bit harshly, but I have to be mindful of prenatal education."
"How are you so smart."
The man affectionately flicked the tip of her nose and couldn't help but lower his head to kiss her again; the little one had just started moving when a large, warm palm covered Zhu Yuan's belly.
"You'd better be sensible."
Zhu Yuan wanted to laugh upon hearing this, and as soon as she did, Sheng Yu pinched her chin to lift her face higher and continued to kiss her, but who knew that after being threatened by Sheng Yu, the little one moved even more joyfully.
Their bodies were pressed tightly together with something wriggling in between; this feeling was not only uncomfortable for Sheng Yu, but Zhu Yuan also felt it was strange, making it impossible to focus on the kiss.
Sheng Yu gently stroked her belly and felt a protrusion, like a small fist, and he smiled.
Just as his finger reached over, the little fist immediately retracted.
The smile in Sheng Yu's eyes deepened; this little guy was simply a carbon copy of Zhu Yuan!
Releasing her chin, Sheng Yu leaned down, one hand stroking Zhu Yuan's belly, his face close, and said in a low voice, "When you come out, I'll buy you a yacht, a plane, and a small island to keep your toys."
Zhu Yuan was surprised to feel the child quiet down.
She looked at Sheng Yu in astonishment, and the man raised an eyebrow at her—what a little money-grubber.
He hooked his arm around Zhu Yuan's shoulder and continued to kiss her; this time, the little one finally settled down and didn't disturb them again.
The night was deep and quiet.
Pei Ling leaned on a lounge chair in the courtyard, a cup of finished fruit and vegetable juice on the stone table beside him; today Zhu Yuan finally gave up on kale, and it was no longer a color so green it made one's heart flutter with unease.
He had vomited blood after returning to his room earlier and felt uncomfortable in his stomach, but this cup made him feel inexplicably comfortable; he knew it was psychological, as he could no longer taste anything now.
He had hidden the fact that he vomited blood very well, and Pei Li was even more tight-lipped and would not leak a word in front of Zhu Yuan.
He didn't know how much time had passed when footsteps came from behind.
Pei Ling didn't turn his head, "With a wife, children, and a warm bed, you still have the heart to come out for a stroll?"
Sheng Yu walked over, "Please take care of her for a few more days."
"Leaving?" Pei Ling's gaze paused slightly.
"Yes."
There was still a major problem to resolve; Zhu Jingyao could find this place, and he couldn't guarantee that Yu Weixiong and the others wouldn't find it if time dragged on. Danger was everywhere, and he just wanted to settle things quickly now.
"Not going to tell her?" Pei Ling toyed with a Sun Wukong charm; she hadn't come out, so she must be asleep.
Sheng Yu looked back at the room where he had turned off the lights; Zhu Yuan was prone to sleepiness during pregnancy and had fallen asleep not long after being in his arms. She was sleeping soundly, so he had come out on tiptoe without waking her.
"Afraid she won't want to let go."
Pei Ling's face fell into the shadows, and after a long while, he let out a scoff, "You're really full of yourself."
The tall, upright figure exited through the open courtyard gate.
The sound of a car starting mixed into the insect chirps of the deep night.
The sound gradually faded into the distance.
Pei Ling leaned against the lounge chair, his gaze silently watching the starry sky above.
After a good while, he got up and walked into the house, gently pushing open that door.
The window was open; there was no need for air conditioning on a summer night here, and the breeze was cool and easy to fall asleep in.
Plus, he had people plant plenty of mosquito-repellent herbs all around, so there were basically no mosquitoes in the courtyard, and one could sleep comfortably with the window open.
Pei Ling walked to the bedside and looked at Zhu Yuan, who was lying in the middle of the bed, her body still maintaining the posture of being held in someone's arms.
After standing by the bed and watching her for a while, Pei Ling sat down on the floor, close to her side of the bed, and leaned against the wall behind him with his eyes closed.
A gentle breeze blew into the room in waves.
Sure enough, staying by her side made his heart much calmer.
Ever since he gave up on surgery, he had been living here and hadn't listened to the Qingxin Mantra for a long time; with her by his side, everything was peaceful and serene.
Pei Ling opened his eyes and turned to look at her sleeping face, his gaze lingering for a long time.
After daybreak, Zhu Yuan turned over but touched nothing; she opened her eyes and didn't see Sheng Yu in the room, subconsciously assuming he had gotten up.
Suddenly, her gaze paused, and she stared blankly at a diamond ring on the ring finger of her right hand.
Back then, when Pei Ling helped her create the illusion of a miscarriage at the hospital in Jincheng, she had left the diamond ring behind when she left, asking a nurse to pass it to Sheng Yu.
Sheng Yu had put it back on her.
Zhu Yuan clenched her right hand, feeling the touch of the ring, and the corners of her mouth couldn't stop curling upward.
Unable to suppress the urge to go find Sheng Yu, she lifted the thin quilt to get up, but after she left the room, she was told by Pei Li that Sheng Yu had left last night.
"Miss Zhu, Chairman Sheng told you to wait patiently for him for a few days."
He will be back to pick you up soon.
Pei Li didn't say this second half out loud because Pei Ling was coming down the stairs, and Pei Li didn't want Second Master to hear this and be in a bad mood; selfishly, he also didn't want Miss Zhu to leave Second Master.
Pei Ling had taken a shower in his room and changed his clothes; as he walked over, the faint fragrance of body wash floated in the air.
"You miss him that much?" Pei Ling fastened the last button.
Zhu Yuan said airily, "I'm not that clingy."
Suddenly, a rough sensation grazed the corner of her eye; it was the pad of Pei Ling's thumb.
His deep gaze swept across her face, and he said in a casual tone, "Tell me that again once your eyes aren't red anymore."
