Chapter 987: Worry
Charlotte Reed let out a sigh of relief when she heard Ethan Seymour say this, "As long as you’re not blaming us."
"You know, James takes after you, shouldering all the responsibilities himself," Ethan said, holding Charlotte’s hand tenderly, "Don’t worry about all those unnecessary things."
"I’m telling you, you really need to pay attention to this matter with Hayley Cole. Try to talk to James whenever you can."
Ethan was even more concerned about this issue.
"Me, talk to James?" Charlotte felt a bit unsure, "Wouldn’t it be better for you to say something?"
"Haven’t I already talked to him? But James just won’t agree," Ethan said helplessly. If his words were effective, why would he bother putting in all this effort?
"That’s because James still hasn’t let go of Ophelia Wilson. Pushing him to suddenly find another woman is not good... Besides, Hayley Cole isn’t as great as you say. She didn’t help James this time, and instead... created such a mess."
Charlotte explained at this point, "It’s not that I care about Hayley Cole’s background or anything. I just feel she’s unreliable. Instead of helping James, she might become a burden."
"How could she not help James?" Ethan laughed and said, "Being Chairman Cole’s son-in-law is the biggest advantage."
"Just having that status, when it comes to approvals, some minor clauses, if not against the law, might ease the process or even speed it up a bit. That’s a huge advantage for the company and can help seize business opportunities!"
As a businessman, Ethan certainly understood the benefits that Hayley Cole’s identity could bring.
"But it’s about whether James is willing," Charlotte said, troubled, "We can’t force him."
"You, as his mom, how could you not see that James actually has feelings for Hayley Cole? Otherwise, would he let just anyone move in so casually?" Ethan said, thinking he had everything figured out, "It’s just that James is still caught up in past feelings and can’t see his own heart clearly."
"As parents, we need to give him a push. It’s for James’s own good," Ethan said, looking seriously at Charlotte, "You wouldn’t want our son to stay stuck on that woman, Ophelia Wilson, would you?"
Charlotte thought seriously about it before nodding, "Yes, but we must not rush; we should take it slowly."
"Of course, we shouldn’t push too hard on Hayley Cole either. That would be disgraceful," Ethan cared about face and naturally didn’t want to appear desperate.
However, Ethan had no idea that Charlotte let James know about Ethan’s thoughts by using the excuse of going downstairs for a glass of water.
"Mom, keep going," James Reed said with a smile, "I can’t be a heartbreaker; I’m loyal and unwavering in love."
He couldn’t let that image fall apart. Even if he had to marry Hayley Cole, it had to look like she was pursuing him.
It had to seem like he was left with no choice but to marry her.
"Of course, I know," Charlotte exchanged a knowing glance with James and then returned to her room.
Meanwhile, back at their home, Jason Cole and Mia Cole were surprised to learn that Hayley Cole had run off. They looked at Frederick Cole in surprise, "Dad, you just let her go like that? What about Mom?"
Mia, unable to keep her thoughts to herself, asked in amazement.
She wasn’t worried about Hayley Cole, but she was concerned about her mom.
