Chapter 4: First Hunt (Seeking Continuation)

Shima clearly also saw the two cubs, and her previously sorrowful gaze instantly brightened.

She immediately tore a large piece of meat from the wart pig they had just hunted, intending to give her two children a hearty meal.

Turning back, she found that her lame son had already vanished without a trace, while her daughter excitedly ran over.

The half‑day‑starved Ai Sha gulped down the wart pig meat.

However, before she could take two bites, the lioness's gaze turned toward the distance and suddenly grew restless.

"Roar!"

She let out a low growl at Ai Sha, as if urging her to leave quickly.

"Howl~"

Ai Sha looked up, eyes pleading at her mother, but was met with the lioness's angry roar.

Seeming to understand something, Ai Sha glanced again at her mother, then watched her lame brother stride away, and snapped up the meat to follow.

Returning to the edge of the lion pride's territory, Chen Mo found that today's 【Raging Lion】 self‑discipline challenge was nearing completion.

Just another ten minutes of running would finish it.

His stamina still being ample, Chen Mo did not halt his stride.

Keep the discipline!

Soon, Ai Sha caught up, eyes widening as she watched her lame brother running wildly not far away.

She didn't know why her lame brother was so optimistic, but under his influence, the bewilderment and helplessness in her heart were greatly dispelled.

Ai Sha ate half of the wart pig meat, reserving the other half for her brother.

When the 【Raging Lion】 progress bar hit 100%, Chen Mo excitedly looked at the panel and selected the title equipment.

As before, a current‑like energy surged through his body, as if unlocking a genetic lock; his flesh and limbs were instantly reinforced! The disability in his hind leg was completely healed at that moment!

Chen Mo didn't first check the newly unlocked challenge, but was eager to feel the bodily changes.

His speed received another massive boost! Compared to before, it was 50% faster.

Now even a male lion would probably not be able to catch him!

Moreover, Chen Mo discovered that when he was running, he entered a peculiar state.

His blood boiled like an adrenaline surge, granting slight improvements to stamina, strength, speed, and burst.

After some thought, Chen Mo directly named it the 【Raging State】.

Unfortunately, this state wasn't lasting, lasting less than a minute at most.

But for hunting, it was enough! After briefly experiencing the changes brought by the 【Raging Lion】, Chen Mo looked back at the discipline panel.

As before, the 【Clean Lion】 and 【Gluttonous Lion】 challenges were already unlocked, and in place of the 【Raging Lion】 was a challenge called 【Observation Lion】.

【Observation Lion】 (Green)

Observe ten distinct individual creatures each day, each for no less than one hour, for a month.

"Will the 【Observation Lion】 make my observation sharper?"

Chen Mo speculated about the possible effects of this title.

It was his first time seeing a green self‑discipline challenge.

After a brief thought, Chen Mo still chose the 【Gluttonous Lion】 self‑discipline challenge.

The 【Observation Lion】 requires a full month of discipline; the cycle is too long! Moreover, given his current situation, the 【Gluttonous Lion】's effect is likely better than the 【Observation Lion】's.

The difficulty is a bit high! Eating 10 kg of meat daily is already comparable to his current weight! More importantly—once he leaves the pride, all food must be hunted by himself! Of course, even without taking this challenge, he now has to start hunting on his own.

"Let's try it first!"

After eating the meat Lion Sister had brought back and taking a brief rest, Chen Mo returned to the big tree, gesturing with his little paws at Lion Sister Aisha, meaning that Aisha should wait where she was while he went out for a trip.

He didn't care whether she understood; Chen Mo jogged back to the lush green meadow.

This was the spot where the lionesses often hunted.

The meadow's abundant grass and proximity to water attracted many herbivores.

Chen Mo prepared to commence his first hunt here! Though this was the territory of the male lion brothers.

Yet now his speed and stamina surpassed the males! Even if the male brothers spotted him, what of it? Can't beat him, can't outrun him? Chen Mo concealed himself in the thick grass; for his first hunt, he aimed to be a competent rogue.

In the distance, a herd of high‑horn antelopes grazed lazily on sweet grass.

They are a species adept at leaping and running fast, also called black‑spotted antelope.

Because of their speed and vigilance, even lionesses wouldn't make them a primary hunting target.

Chen Mo stood motionless, patiently awaiting an opening.

【48】 After about half an hour, a female black‑spotted antelope, seeking tastier grass, drifted farther from the herd, drawing nearer to Chen Mo's hiding spot.

After finishing the meat Lion Sister brought back and taking a short rest, Chen Mo returned to the big tree, gesturing with his small paw at Lion Sister Ai Sha. It meant to have Ai Sha stay put while he went out.

Chen Mo held his breath, ready to strike when it came a bit closer.

"Yo~"

The female antelope glanced toward Chen Mo's location.

It had actually noticed the cub's presence but paid it no mind; after confirming no lioness was around, it continued leisurely munching the sweet grass.

This two‑month‑old cub, whose milk teeth had just emerged, could easily outrun it by an unknown distance.

Not even a mother lion could guarantee catching it! Whoosh! When the antelope was less than five meters from Chen Mo, he lunged without hesitation.

The 【Rampaging Lion】 + 【Raging Lion】 double boost made his speed astonishingly fast!

The female antelope, hearing the movement, instinctively bolted to flee, but was already knocked to the ground by the cub.

After pinning the antelope, Chen Mo opened his jaws, lunging at its throat for a killing blow! Yet what followed was entirely different from his expectation.

His teeth were not fully developed, so he couldn't tear the antelope's throat as expected, only leaving a shallow blood mark.

Subsequently, due to insufficient strength, even though the antelope was on the ground, it quickly broke free from his "embrace", leapt high, and fled desperately.

"Ah?"

Chen Mo's heart froze for half a second, then he immediately chased after it without hesitation.

After breaking free from the young lion, the black-spotted antelope ran at full speed, and also couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

Earlier, I was careless and didn't dodge.

It should be safe now! But it guessed wrong!

Sensing the whistling wind coming from behind, the black-spotted antelope couldn't help but glance back, almost scared to death.

This young lion didn't know what stimulant it had taken; just now it took advantage of the moment the young lion was stunned, the 30-meter distance it had opened shrank to less than 10 meters in the blink of an eye! Moreover, the distance between them was rapidly closing! While running, Chen Mo entered the 【Frenzied Rush State】.

He felt his heart racing, his limbs filled with power, his speed increasing another notch! At this moment he was like a car with the accelerator floored! Lion's blood boiled, the young lion's eyes flashed with a chilling ferocity! The female black-spotted antelope hadn't even had time to wonder why this young lion exuded such terrifying aura, why it could run so fast, before it was pounced upon again and knocked to the ground! This time Chen Mo did not choose to tear and bite, but used a claw strike.

The female black-spotted antelope's abdomen was torn open cleanly and neatly.

Under the boost of the Frenzied Rush State, Chen Mo's strength greatly increased, barely reaching the level of an ordinary lioness.

"Yo!"

The female black-spotted antelope let out a final, miserable scream, accompanied by another claw strike from Chen Mo, and completely lost its life.
