Chapter 141: Securitization Revealed
"It's good that you understand, kid."
Professor Li took a puff of his Cigar and nodded lightly.
He waited a moment before continuing.
"Right, these are the documents for your other titles; they are all blank. Which name do you want to fill in? It's best not to use Lu Sanbao."
Professor Li patted his head, beckoned to the butler, and after taking the document bag, placed it on the coffee table.
"It is best if the name Lu Sanbao has nothing under it."
After thinking for a while, Lu Chen filled in the name he had used for the identity he obtained when he first arrived in Xianggang on the blank document: Lu Chen.
"A good name."
Seeing the two bold, sweeping characters, Professor Li narrowed his eyes slightly and applauded softly.
"Has your identity been processed? If not, I'll notify someone to help you get it done."
"It's done."
Lu Chen nodded slightly and took a puff of his Cigar.
After the group chatted for a while longer, they departed.
Lu Chen let out a long breath, a flash of sharp light appearing in his eyes.
I'm afraid things won't be that simple, will they?
After all, this was only the topic for the first day.
If it were only this one matter, it would actually be easier to handle.
Lu Chen sighed softly; now that he was on the ship, there was nothing he could do, so he might as well take things one step at a time.
After a simple dinner, Lu Chen drifted off into a drowsy sleep once again.
The second day's meeting on the physical industry was nothing special, just some industry data and cooperation invitations from various sectors.
Lu Chen merely signed a few supply contracts and some future pre-sale contracts.
Overall, it was a decent meeting; at least he didn't have to run the business side of things himself.
After the meeting, Lu Chen still attended the cocktail party.
Indeed, his state today was much better than yesterday.
At least after taking the seasickness medicine, his mind was much clearer than it had been yesterday.
As for the legal topics on the third day, there was actually nothing special, just some minor adjustments that did not touch upon Professor Li's core interests.
Professor Li did not come forward to object either.
And so, everything was settled smoothly.
Lu Chen chose to disembark the moment the ship docked and did not eat breakfast on board.
"Let's go, just find any tea restaurant."
Lu Chen said softly while sitting in the car.
Butler Wang nodded slightly; in a parking lot not far from Victoria Harbour, Lu Chen and Butler Wang changed their clothes inside the car.
Only then did they stroll onto the bustling Huanghou Dajie.
The entrance to Crown was already filled with a long queue.
Everyone seemed somewhat vigilant, yet they also seemed to be whispering to one another.
Lu Chen gave a slight signal to Butler Wang.
Butler Wang stepped forward and randomly asked two passersby.
But when he returned, he shook his head slightly at Lu Chen.
He hadn't found out anything.
Lu Chen nodded slightly and sat down with Butler Wang in a nearby tea restaurant.
"Boss, do you know what's going on over there? Did Crown go bankrupt?"
Lu Chen asked softly.
His tone carried a hint of playfulness as he reached out and pointed at a few items on the menu.
"That securities thing just started selling the day before yesterday, and it's been hitting the daily limit ever since!"
The tea restaurant owner looked at Lu Chen with some surprise.
Only then did he speak softly.
"It's not just Crown; all the other banks are packed too. If I didn't have this business, I'd be queuing up to buy it too. Please wait a moment, your order will be here shortly."
Lu Chen's expression was somewhat grave as he found a seat by the window.
Just after sitting down, a few small-time thugs walked in.
"Boss, here is the money I owe you, and bring me a set of morning tea! The most expensive one!"
The thug shouted triumphantly.
This shout drew the attention of the entire tea restaurant.
The thug was wearing a suit that looked completely mismatched, and his hair was styled into a shiny, slicked-back look.
It was just somewhat incongruous.
"What are you looking at? Never seen it before? Oh, right, I'm not in the gang anymore; our boss opened a finance company, so everyone please show your support in the future."
The thug patted his suit smugly and sat down at the center table.
The lackey beside him subconsciously wiped the table with his sleeve before realizing he was wearing a suit.
He sat down to the side, looking rather awkward.
The surrounding crowd suddenly chuckled.
Even Lu Chen's grave mood was almost broken by the thug, making him want to laugh.
"Are you sure you want the most expensive set? Where would you get the money?"
The tea restaurant owner walked in carrying Lu Chen's meal, placed it on Lu Chen's table, and only then walked over to the table of thugs.
"If you don't have money, don't try to act like a big shot. I'll serve you plain noodles; consider it on the house today since I'm in a good mood."
A thug pulled a stack of cash from his pocket and waved it at the owner.
"This is my salary for this month, 1,000 yuan! Don't you go looking down on people, boss!"
The thug counted out one bill and shoved it into the owner's pocket.
"Is the money I owe you paid off now? Can I afford a set or not?"
After saying this, he laughed out loud.
The gazes of the people around toward the thug were no longer quite right.
"Everyone knows about that financial innovation the day before yesterday, that... what was it called... securitization, right? Our boss bought 100,000 worth of it at once, and today it's already turned into over 120,000. He was so happy he paid us our monthly salary early!"
The thug looked around at the crowd triumphantly before shouting loudly.
"It's too late for you all to get on board now! Our boss spent 10,000 just to buy that news! It was inside information."
Lu Chen frowned, but he didn't say anything.
He just silently started eating the shrimp dumplings with Steward Wang.
The breathing of the people around seemed to stop for a few seconds.
Then there was an uproar, and the entire tea restaurant became even noisier than before.
The thug looked around triumphantly once more, then continued to shout loudly.
"Our company can accept investments from everyone; they are all formal contracts, the kind with legal validity. We aren't the small-time thugs we used to be."
Another thug stood up, pulled out a large box of Business Cards, and started handing them out one by one.
"This is our big brother's Business Card, this is the company phone number and address. If you want to get on board, come find us."
"Opportunity knocks but once; if it weren't for this financial innovation, there would be no chance at all..."
In just a few minutes, the thug reached Lu Chen.
Lu Chen smiled and nodded, accepting the Business Card.
Even Steward Wang was shoved one.
Steward Wang accepted the Business Card with a wry smile and glanced at Lu Chen.
Lu Chen just ate his meal in silence, listening to the thugs' various boasts.
It wasn't until they left the tea restaurant that Lu Chen's expression turned somewhat grim.
"Return to the Zhuangyuan. The original one. After we get back, notify them to return for a meeting."
Steward Wang nodded silently and drove straight back to the Zhuangyuan.
It was just a pity that Chen Mo was not at the Zhuangyuan.
Lu Chen returned to his familiar study, silently lit a Cigar, and waited quietly.
"Sir, President Zhao and the others have all returned."
Steward Wang knocked lightly on the door and bowed slightly.
Lu Chen nodded slightly, extinguished the Cigar, stood up, and walked toward the conference room.
