In 1950s Hong Kong, Lu Chen, a corporate slave from the 21st century, finds himself thrust into a turbulent era of colonial influence and unchecked greed. Armed with a mysterious portable space containing modern goods and a sharp, pragmatic mind honed by years of corporate negotiation, he arrives in the city with a batch of flawless Moissanite. In an era where the technology to distinguish these stones from real diamonds does not yet exist, Lu Chen attempts to secure his fortune by playing a dangerous game with the powerful Crown Bank.

Navigating the treacherous waters of international capital, colonial politics, and the city's burgeoning underworld, Lu Chen must transform from a penniless outsider into a titan of industry. With his portable space as his only true safety net, he begins to acquire assets—starting with a dilapidated textile factory—and sets his sights on the immense potential of Hong Kong’s future. In a world where everyone is looking to swallow him whole, Lu Chen must use his wits to survive, scheme, and build an empire from the ground up.
