Chapter 69: The Luosha Boudoir
After dining with Professor Li, Lu Chen successfully borrowed 30 million pounds as a reserve fund for the company.
However, Professor Li also indicated that it would take about 3 days for the money to arrive.
This made Lu Chen feel much more at ease.
At the very least, he would not be short of money in the short term.
Of course, Lu Chen could actually relieve the pressure instantly by withdrawing the money from Li Xuanhua's side.
But doing so would truly play right into the hands of Crown.
Early in the morning, Lu Chen began his day's work.
He had truly slept well last night, sweeping away the exhaustion of the past half-month.
After interacting with Tingting for a while, Lu Chen watched Tingting get into the car to school.
Coffee, newspaper, Cigar.
Lu Chen's life returned to tranquility.
Lu Chen took a puff of his Cigar, a hint of boredom on his face.
Come to think of it, life in the first half of the month felt like returning to his past life as a beast of burden.
He couldn't stop for even a moment, but now, Lu Chen was so idle it made him feel uneasy.
Flipping through the newspaper casually, his pupils didn't seem to be focused.
"Boss, something happened!"
Chen Mo didn't offer a greeting, walking quickly, almost jogging, to Lu Chen's side.
There was a hint of impatience in his tone, though his face didn't look all that urgent.
Lu Chen waved his hand at Chen Mo, and he forcibly held back the words that were about to spill out.
After several seconds passed, he finally organized his language.
"Nothing major happened, it's just that all our recruitment posters have been torn down, and the newspapers aren't printing our recruitment notices either."
Lu Chen paused for a moment and glanced at Chen Mo.
He silently took a puff of his Cigar and slowly exhaled the smoke.
"Has everything been investigated clearly? Which newspapers didn't publish our recruitment notice?"
"My subordinates are already checking on that; they'll send it over in a bit."
Chen Mo scratched his head, a hint of embarrassment appearing on his face.
"Sit."
Lu Chen tossed a pack of 555s to Chen Mo and didn't say anything else, instead waiting patiently with Chen Mo.
After Chen Mo sat restlessly and smoked several cigarettes, his eyes lit up; he nodded at Lu Chen, stood up, and walked directly out the door.
"Boss, the news is back. It was Second Master from the underworld who gave the word. I confirmed it with Feizai; Second Master is one of Old Zhao's men."
Chen Mo walked quickly to Lu Chen's side but did not sit down.
"Do you want me to..."
A hint of ruthlessness appeared on Chen Mo's face, and his tone carried a trace of coldness.
"Go where? Don't you want your daughter anymore?"
Lu Chen reached out and patted his shoulder.
"Alright, you don't need to worry about this matter; I happen to be meeting Miss Luosha this afternoon."
"Uh, okay."
A hint of confusion appeared on Chen Mo's face, followed by shame.
"Alright, sit down."
Lu Chen pointed to the sofa beside him.
"You, think before you act. Don't be so impulsive. The underworld isn't just about fighting and killing."
"Alright, smoke, smoke. Steward Wang, bring a pot of tea."
Lu Chen called out to Steward Wang, who was standing at the door, and pointed to the sofa on the other side.
After Steward Wang sat down, Lu Chen finally spoke.
"Isn't there some loosening on Old Zhao's side? Then let it be for now. Since they don't want to cooperate, then let's drag it out."
A hint of coldness flashed in Lu Chen's eyes, his tone calm.
"It just so happens our funds won't arrive for a few more days, no need to rush."
"Very well, Master."
Steward Wang glanced at Chen Mo before looking at Lu Chen.
After the few of them chatted for a while longer, Lu Chen rested for a bit.
As the sun set, Lu Chen changed into a new suit.
He tidied himself up solemnly in front of the mirror.
Only then did he head out.
"Let's go."
Lu Chen nodded slightly at Steward Wang and spoke softly.
The Rolls-Royce slowly drove away from the Zhuangyuan and passed through the bustling urban area of Xianggang.
It slowly came to a stop at the entrance of a Zhuangyuan.
A strange steward stood at the entrance of the Zhuangyuan waiting.
Lu Chen frowned; why wasn't it Old Hou?
He looked at Steward Wang with some confusion.
"Sir, Old Hou is not responsible for greeting guests."
Steward Wang gave a slight reminder and got out of the car with Chen Mo.
Lu Chen was stunned for a moment, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly, and after adjusting his suit, he then got out of the car.
Lu Chen nodded slightly toward the unfamiliar steward and silently followed him as he walked into the Zhuangyuan.
"Mr. Lu, I am truly sorry, I didn't manage to welcome you in person."
Old Hou walked over hurriedly from a side path, wiped his hands with a clean white handkerchief, and only then put his white gloves back on.
Lu Chen, who was walking silently, paused slightly and turned around.
"Old Hou, I didn't greet you when I saw you last time; that was truly my fault."
A flash of vigilance crossed Lu Chen's eyes, but he wore a smile on his face and reached out to shake hands with Old Hou.
"There is no such thing as fault on your part, Mr. Lu; as a steward, my job is to share the burdens of my master."
Old Hou smiled and waved at the steward who had stopped in front, then made a gesture of invitation.
However, he did not lead the way in front but walked side-by-side with Lu Chen.
"Mr. Lu, let's chat as we walk. My young lady instructed me to cooperate with your actions; have you encountered trouble?"
"What are you saying, Old Hou? As a senior, you should give us juniors more guidance."
Lu Chen nodded slightly and did not refuse Old Hou's request.
"I have indeed encountered some trouble. My people told me that a man called Second Master claimed that the Nitan is his. I am new here and don't have any connections, so I had no choice but to come find you."
"This way is the reception hall, but we won't go there today; come, I will take you to see the backyard."
Old Hou took a deep look at Lu Chen, then reached out to introduce the layout of the Zhuangyuan to Lu Chen.
He led Lu Chen toward the other side.
"Second Master will not obstruct you tomorrow. As long as you proceed with the construction and renovation as normal, no one will hinder you."
"Old Hou, you are truly impressive; with one sentence, you have freed our company from this mess that had us tearing our hair out."
Lu Chen took a deep look at Old Hou, a flash of inquiry and solemnity crossing his eyes.
However, his tone carried a hint of relief.
He clenched his palm tightly, then released it again.
"This is Miss Luosha's boudoir."
Old Hou took a deep look at Lu Chen and reached out to knock on the door.
Upon hearing a lazy "come in" from inside, Old Hou then opened the door.
He made a gesture of invitation.
"It is not convenient for me to enter the young lady's boudoir; please go ahead."
Lu Chen looked at Old Hou with some surprise.
He saw Old Hou nod slightly and speak in a low voice.
"Only three maids in the entire Zhuangyuan are allowed to enter the young lady's boudoir. As for what is inside, I do not know either; you are the first."
Lu Chen nodded slightly, took a box of Cigar from his personal space, and gently placed it into Old Hou's hand.
He took a deep breath and adjusted his suit.
Only then did he walk into the room.
Old Hou put the Cigar into his pocket and reached out to close the door, seemingly having no desire to pry at all.
"Sit wherever you like and wait for me a moment."
A cold voice, mixed with the sound of splashing water, drifted over faintly.
