Chapter 73: Questioning!
At the airport, Lu Chen's motorcade did not disembark at the terminal, but drove directly onto the tarmac.
After Chen Mo stepped out of the car, he waved his hand, and the security personnel quickly dispersed to the perimeter of Lu Chen's motorcade.
They did not even bother to hide the bulging items at their waists.
After more than ten minutes, an airplane in the distance vaguely broke through the clouds and headed toward the runway.
Only then did Lu Chen straighten his suit and step out of the car.
Until the plane stopped steadily not far from Lu Chen, one could vaguely hear the broadcast inside the plane reassuring the passengers.
On the boarding stairs, Li Xuanhua did not stand at the very front, but stood behind Liu Xiaofeng.
Liu Xiaofeng was holding a wooden box, wearing a suit as he walked at the front, his face carrying a trace of sorrow, while a deep, burning rage flashed in his eyes.
After descending the boarding stairs, Lu Chen walked forward a few steps and gently patted Liu Xiaofeng on the shoulder.
"My condolences."
He took the wooden box from Liu Xiaofeng's arms, turned, and solemnly handed it to Chen Mo.
"The relevant gangs have already disappeared; as for the mastermind, I have already had Chen Mo investigate, you follow up on the rest, Butler Wang and Xuan Hua will fully cooperate with you."
Only then did Lu Chen embrace the somewhat numb Liu Xiaofeng and give Li Xuanhua a wink.
He then led everyone back to the cars in silence, and they soon drove out of the airport.
Liu Xiaofeng and Lu Chen sat in the back seat, and Chen Mo sat in the passenger seat holding the urn.
"Xiaofeng, I will give you an explanation for this matter; the person involved has already been caught by Chen Mo."
Lu Chen tossed a cigarette to Liu Xiaofeng and lit one for himself.
"You don't need to worry about who those people are connected to; I will help you block all the pressure."
Liu Xiaofeng clutched the cigarette, and after a long while, he lit it and took several fierce drags.
Only then did he speak in a somewhat hoarse voice.
"Okay."
"Go lay your mother to rest first; I still have a meeting, and once I'm done, I will come to pay my respects."
Lu Chen patted Liu Xiaofeng's shoulder.
At a certain intersection, Liu Xiaofeng and Chen Mo got out of the car and boarded a Buick behind Lu Chen's.
The motorcade split into two or three groups and drove toward different locations.
Just on the road Lu Chen had to take, a police car stopped beside his vehicle.
An officer stepped out and knocked on Lu Chen's car window.
Lu Chen frowned and rolled down the window.
"Mr. Lu, we suspect you are involved in last night's gang shootout; please come with us."
"Officer, what is the matter?"
Lu Chen reached out to glance at his watch, a trace of impatience flashing in his eyes.
"May I ask if you have any evidence? I still have a meeting; if you have evidence, then present the relevant evidence to my lawyer, Professor Li, and then come to investigate me."
Lu Chen paused, then continued.
"If you have no evidence, then please do not disrupt me from attending the Crown board meeting; I think with Crown's capabilities, you won't have an easy time of it, Officer."
Lu Chen took a deep look at the young officer and rolled up the window directly.
He closed his eyes and ignored him further.
Butler Wang rolled down the window and took out a Business Card for Professor Li.
"Officer, this is the Business Card of my master's lawyer; please keep it, you can give it to the superior who sent you."
The vehicle slowly started moving again, and Lu Chen opened his eyes, a hint of amusement flashing in them.
Today, Huanghou Dadao was even more hurried than usual.
The endless stream of cars almost filled every traffic lane.
Pedestrians could only walk hurriedly by leaning against the storefronts.
But the entrance to Huangguan Yinhang cut off this stream.
As they parked, security guards stood in two rows, creating a passage for Lu Chen to enter Huangguan.
This was his first time using such a grand display at Huangguan.
"Welcome, Chairman Lu, long time no see."
Wei Er stood at the entrance of Huangguan and shook hands with the leisurely Lu Chen.
With a smile on his face, he reached out.
"Chairman Lu, what a grand display; I heard something happened on your side last night?"
"Director Wei Er, long time no see."
Lu Chen shook hands lightly with Wei Er, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.
"Not worth mentioning, it's just that some people don't follow the rules."
"It seems Chairman Lu has his own rules now too; that is a good thing."
Wei Er patted Lu Chen on the back and nodded slightly toward Wang Jingli in the lobby.
"Chairman Shi hasn't arrived yet, I still have to wait a while; please go ahead, Chairman Lu."
"Thank you for your hard work, Director Wei Er; we are all colleagues, and seeing you work so hard, I truly feel bad."
Lu Chen nodded slightly and stepped inside.
"Chairman Lu, please this way."
Wang Jingli walked quickly to Lu Chen's side, reached out, and guided Lu Chen through the lobby.
"Miss Luosha and Professor Li have already arrived, and the three foreign directors have also arrived; they are all chatting in the VIP lounge."
Lu Chen stood before the wooden door, straightened his suit, blinked his bloodshot eyes hard, adjusted his tie slightly, and only then pushed the door open.
"Sanbao, over here."
The moment the wooden door pushed open, everyone looked toward Lu Chen in unison.
A smile hung on Lu Chen's face as he looked toward Professor Li.
He walked forward a few steps and stood beside Professor Li.
"Uncle Li, you kept me in the dark for so long."
Lu Chen grasped Professor Li's hand and spoke softly.
Although his tone was relatively light, his hoarse voice made Lu Chen's words sound somewhat heavy.
"Whatever you want to drink, pour it yourself."
A cold voice came from the direction of the bar, pouring a cup of coffee, though it was not Luosha's cup.
"Thank you."
Lu Chen nodded slightly, walked to the bar, and took the coffee.
He took a light sip and sat down beside Professor Li.
"Xianggang was quite lively last night, Miss Luosha, do you have anything to say about that?"
Professor Li's gaze shifted between Lu Chen and Luosha before he spoke to ask the question.
"Someone didn't follow the rules, so I just cleaned house; if I disturbed everyone, Luosha offers an apology here."
Luosha shrugged, swept her gaze across the face of every director, her tone carrying a hint of indifference.
"It just so happens that the higher-ups wanted to sweep the house, so I could only cooperate."
Professor Li nodded slightly, glanced at Lu Chen, and said no more.
The other three directors also nodded slightly.
They each began to smoke their Cigar leisurely.
"Mr. Lu, you requested all board members to be present this time; is there some major matter?"
One of the foreign directors, upon seeing Lu Chen light a Cigar and take a few puffs, spoke with a strange accent.
"Recently, my company has had a lot of abnormal funds that, after being traded, all flowed to Crown."
Lu Chen raised his coffee cup toward the foreign director who had spoken and took a sip.
He took a puff of his Cigar, leaned his body back, and crossed his legs.
His hoarse voice rang out in the Guibingshi.
"But the heads of the companies I cooperate with told me they invested the funds into financial innovation projects."
Lu Chen's gaze swept across all the foreign directors.
Only then did he continue.
"May I ask everyone present, just how great is the risk of financial innovation, and is it safe for the industrial capital of Xianggang to be invested in this project?"
Just as his voice fell, the door to the Guibingshi opened.
Wei Er accompanied an old man as they slowly walked in.
But the expression on Wei Er's face did not seem very good.
"What do you say, Director Wei Er?"
