Chapter 408

~11 min read 2,150 words

Everyone, hearing that awakening was about to happen, intensified the power in their hands. But the more power they exerted, the more it seemed like they were helping the hungry wolf awaken.

Luo En, sensing something was wrong, guessed: "Could it be that awakening happens every time one dies?"

His voice was quiet, but everyone around heard it.

"What do we do now! We can't keep suppressing him like this forever!" someone asked.

Banggu thought for a moment; the only solution was to imprison him first.

58, Ultimate Being, God Rank, Battle!

"Hahaha, it's too late now, arrogant scraps." The hungry wolf was gradually wrapped in a veil of blood mist.

"Hahaha, is this the power of a god? Hahaha!" From within the blood mist came the hungry wolf's near-hysterical laughter. Suddenly, two enormous, blood-dripping demon wings extended from the mist, and the mist exploded, hurling all the heroes backward.

The blood mist slowly dispersed, revealing the transformed hungry wolf, his entire body covered in a godlike shell, with two massive, pointed horns growing from his head. The hungry wolf rose slowly, his blood-red eyes brimming with savagery, scanning the heroes with a king's gaze.

The heroes gradually recovered from the shockwave, realizing that if they did not eliminate this monster here and now, the entire Earth would suffer.

The heroes exchanged glances, then in the next instant, they all charged toward the hungry wolf simultaneously.

Yet as the hungry wolf faced the heroes' suppression, he burst into loud laughter: "Hahahahaha, laughably stupid! Do you really think you can kill me?!"

The hungry wolf crouched in place and punched the ground—immediately, a massive shockwave flung half the heroes into the air, while the rest staggered backward several steps.

"Luo En! Who can stop me now?! Hahahahaha!"

The hungry wolf laughed wildly, stepping toward Luo En. His overwhelming pressure crushed the surrounding space; deep, guttural roars echoed from the fractured void, as if the other side of nothingness was hell itself.

"Luo En, look at your pitiful state—why aren't you arrogant anymore? Rules? Rules are made by the strong and obeyed by the weak."

The hungry wolf advanced step by step toward Luo En, while Luo En stood calmly opposite him.

"A frog in a well—witness how vast the world truly is." Luo En clenched his fists and spoke softly.

With that, Luo En unleashed his ultimate killing technique: "Fatal Strike—Serious Punch." In the blink of an eye, he appeared before the hungry wolf.

The hungry wolf was stunned—he had no time to dodge—and took the full force of Luo En's punch.

He flew several meters through the air before crashing heavily to the ground. The hungry wolf struggled to rise, clutching his chest, spitting out a large gout of blood, his godlike shell cracking and peeling away in fragments.

"Damn it! I won't let you go! Today, it's either you dead or me dead!" The hungry wolf roared, leaping into the air. His body swelled larger and larger until it grew as massive as a house; the red in his eyes faded, replaced by a dark crimson, thick with madness.

"Tch, just getting bigger, that's all." Luo En waved his hand mockingly. Hearing this, the hungry wolf became frenzied, unleashing a barrage of attacks on Luo En—but Luo En remained unharmed, not even a single hair out of place.

"Done yet? I still have to buy discounted steak. Don't waste my time." Luo En sighed impatiently, then threw a single punch—just one punch—and the half-god-level hungry wolf vanished into dust and debris.

Luo En clapped his hands and spoke calmly to the heroes: "All done. Time to clock out and go home to cook."

The heroes stared at each other, each thinking: "He used two punches—only two, right? We couldn't even get close, yet he obliterated the hungry wolf with just two punches? What exactly is he?"

Just as Luo En was about to leave the arena, a colossal spaceship gradually materialized in the sky, its massive shadow engulfing the entire arena. Standing atop the vessel was a figure, arms crossed, with a single eye, long purple hair, a bright red cloak contrasting sharply with deep blue armor.

"Hey, who are you, and what do you want?" Luo En scratched his head, puzzled.

After a long silence, the figure on the ship spoke slowly: "I witnessed your entire battle. To defeat such a monster—you must be the strongest opponent foretold to challenge me."

"What prophecy? What opponent? Nonsense. If you've got nothing better to do, I'm going to buy discounted steak." With that, Luo En turned and walked toward the arena exit.

Then the mysterious figure leapt from the warship—his powerful shockwave kicked up a cloud of dust. With a slight step, he instantly appeared before Luo En and struck without warning.

Luo En reacted with incredible speed, instantly retreating a considerable distance.

"Hey, who the hell are you? Where did some lunatic like you come from?" Luo En was rarely this annoyed—this man had ruined his precious time.

"Hmph. I've traveled across countless parallel universes, seeking only to become the strongest. Yet in all these universes, I've found no worthy opponent—until one day, a prophet told me: 'Twenty years from now, on this planet, a being will arise who can fight you.' And now, the prophecy holds true. Come, fated one—you have the right to know my name. I am the Cosmic Overlord. My name is… the Hungry Wolf!"

With that, he lunged at Luo En. Before Luo En could react, the Hungry Wolf was already before him, landing a punch that sent Luo En flying.

"I possess the finest bloodline of all races—my strength, speed, defense, and regeneration far surpass that monster. Don't underestimate me!" the Hungry Wolf said as he fought.

The Hungry Wolf punched Luo En straight through the ground, through the entire spaceship, and into the sky—then punched him back down onto the ship's roof. Luo En retaliated with a punch that sent the Hungry Wolf crashing into the ship's interior, injuring one of his arms.

The two clashed like twin lightning bolts, neither clearly superior to the other.

?

Soon, they reached the ship's roof. The Hungry Wolf laughed: "Impressive moves—you're truly strong. But here, I won't give any defeated opponent a second chance. No matter how powerful you are, I fear nothing. All who fight me end in defeat. Hahaha!"

As he spoke, a massive blue light ignited on the Hungry Wolf's chest. With a colossal explosion, he vanished and reappeared behind Luo En.

"Behind you!" No sooner had the words been heard than the Hungry Wolf landed a solid punch on Luo En.

"That punch landed. Let me tell you—I didn't gain this power through devouring others, or through grueling training. This is all innate talent. That alone proves my strength. My stats rank among the highest."

"Fatal wounds heal in seconds. A severed limb? I concentrate my energy—and it regenerates instantly." The Hungry Wolf boasted.

The Hungry Wolf's severed arm regrew instantly. But his own wounds multiplied, and his stamina steadily decreased.

At that moment, Luo En interrupted: "Enough blabbering. Is that all? You done?"

"Not yet! Meteor Burst!" The Hungry Wolf planted one hand on the ground, his entire body radiating terrifying energy.

The immense energy began melting the ship's hull. The Hungry Wolf's color shifted from deep blue to pale pink; his hair grew twice as long.

"Channeling my inner energy as fuel, I unleash power beyond biological limits!" the Hungry Wolf declared.

Immediately, he launched himself at Luo En with a punch—massive energy obliterated one-third of the ship's hull.

Then came a relentless barrage of punches, sending Luo En flying all the way to the Moon.

Luo En, crashing into the Moon, pinched his nose, picked up a fragment of rock, weighed it in his hand, nodded, then kicked off with both legs—like an arrow released from a bow—flying back toward Earth, the impact kicking up a storm of lunar debris.

On Earth, the Hungry Wolf panted to himself: "This form imposes a massive burden, like anaerobic exercise. I meant to save it for the end… who would have thought the battle would end early."

Luo En returned to Earth, landing before the Hungry Wolf, and said calmly: "Oh, you're back."

The Hungry Wolf widened his single eye in disbelief, then declared firmly: "But because of this man, I will give everything! Aaaahhhhhhh!!!"

With that, he charged at Luo En at supersonic speed, unleashing a storm of attacks.

Luo En waited, watched the timing precisely, then punched the Hungry Wolf far away—followed by a series of "Continuous Normal Punches," reducing the Hungry Wolf to countless fragments.

The Hungry Wolf stared at Luo En in utter disbelief.

Then his fragments reassembled, and he roared: "I will be the one to defeat you! Release all energy—obliterate you and this entire planet! Star-Cracking Roar Cannon!"

With a thunderous heartbeat, blinding, terrifying beams of light erupted from the Hungry Wolf's single eye, streaking straight toward Luo En.

Luo En moved calmly and punched out.

Terrifying fist winds surged forth, colliding with the ray; the brilliant ray split in two, turning all it passed into ash, while the unstoppable fist winds surged straight toward the Wolf.

After the aftermath, the Wolf lay on the ground, his life force burned out, like a withered tree, murmuring: "Did I lose?"

"Still conscious? You really are strong," Luo En said in a flat tone, without any mockery.

Knowing he was in the wrong, the Wolf could only say: "As the prophecy foretold, this was a battle of equals."

"Yeah, of course—we were equals!" Luo En said, then flashed the Wolf a sly smile.

Thus, the universe's supreme powerhouse was conquered by another powerhouse, and their clash ended with Luo En's victory.

Chuixue could hardly believe Luo En was so powerful; she rushed to his side and said: "Luo En, you're this strong? You defeated the universe's overlord, the Wolf! This is unbelievable!"

Banggu and Longjuan were also curious, but they held back out of pride—perfectly, they could let Chuixue ask, since they wanted to know too.

Luo En glanced at Chuixue and said slowly: "Talent."

All three froze at this answer—it was no different from no answer at all.

As they walked back, a bright light suddenly appeared in the sky.

The light was still slightly blinding against the blue sky, so all three instinctively raised their hands to shield their eyes.

Something zipped past them—but because the light had blinded them, they couldn't see what it was.

"Oh dear, I'm late! Went to the supermarket to grab discounted eggs, sorry everyone," the newcomer apologized.

The newcomer wore a hero combat suit with a white cape, dressed in a manner strikingly similar to Luo En's.

"B... Blast?!" All heroes except Luo En gasped in unison, eyes wide.

"What's Blast? What are you talking about?" Luo En asked, puzzled.

"Let me introduce myself—I'm Blast, yes, the S-Class hero ranked number one. Though I don't know my current rank anymore—probably still first," Blast said confidently.

"Ah, so you're a hero? Then handle the cleanup—you're welcome. I've got to buy discounted steak before it's gone," Luo En sighed in relief.

"Wait, this isn't over. If my calculations are right, a god is coming," Banggu said.

"Wait? A god? What god?" Everyone asked, confused.

At that moment, a voice echoed: "I travel between universes and have seen powerhouses of varying strength. Among them, some individuals break beyond biological limits, reaching a new height. Let's say the Great Snake is level 100—then the Wolf broke past that, reaching above 100."

"We call such beings pseudo-gods. If there's false, there's true. The Wolf and others rely on starships to traverse the cosmos; true gods move between universes by their own power."

"True gods are stronger than you and me, but not without countermeasures. Among true gods, there exists an even more terrifying entity—an ancient being born alongside Chaos. I call it the Ancestral God. So far, no one has ever ascended from true god to Ancestral God," Blast said slowly to the group.

Longjuan asked, half-skeptical: "Why do you know so much? Have you met a god?"

"Yes, I've met a god. Fought him for three days and three nights—no winner. I barely managed to severely wound him and force him to flee. Gods fear death more than we do—they spend half a year building up power, only to lose it all in one night," Blast joked.

As everyone laughed, a strange voice echoed in each of their hearts, piercing through flesh to strike the soul, raising every hair on end.

"Blast, you think your strength could wound me? Do you believe I, with my depth, could be wounded by you? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. You, the Wolf, the Great Snake—they're all as foolish as each other. You're nothing but pawns in my hands."
