Chapter 644
"You really are something else—we actually managed to escape their pursuit."
Luo En, however, shook his head.
"No, we haven't escaped yet—they're still searching for us, but they won't reach here anytime soon."
After speaking, he looked around at the surroundings.
"I heard he has an information repository—we must get our hands on that thing."
Taiyaro frowned and said.
"But I heard that thing is heavily guarded—can the two of us really take it?"
Luo En said.
"How can you know unless you try?"
After speaking, he led Taiyaro away from the back mountain, heading in another direction.
Although they didn't know where the opponent's information repository was hidden.
But Luo En had previously scouted this area.
He knew there was a place with extremely deep defenses, where many curses lingered.
Surely such a place would hide the most valuable things—so the information repository was likely there.
When they arrived near that place, they indeed found numerous curses constantly drifting around.
Taiyaro said, somewhat worried.
"Can the two of us even break in?"
Luo En nodded, and with Taiyaro, he stepped slowly toward the gate.
Luo En said.
"I didn't know what this place concealed before, but now I've finally extracted his words."
Even now, the curses had not detected Luo En and his group—they were still searching everywhere.
The Lord Curse said, furious.
"These two are truly troublesome—once I find them this time, I'll kill them immediately to eliminate the threat."
Unaware that Luo En and his group had already quietly arrived at the location of the information repository.
Taiyaro gazed ahead, nervously saying.
"How do we get in now? That place looks heavily guarded—we're likely to be spotted."
Luo En said.
"Look, there seems to be a ventilation shaft up there—maybe we can enter through it."
"But how do we climb onto the roof? We can't even get close to it right now."
Luo En looked around and saw several towering trees not far away.
Luo En said.
"We can drop down from those trees."
Taiyaro looked at the tree and said nervously.
"But dropping from up there is extremely risky—we might not land on the roof."
Luo En patted Taiyaro on the shoulder.
"There's no other choice now—we have to try."
After speaking, they hurried to the tree.
The massive tree appeared ancient, its trunk requiring six men to encircle.
They climbed upward along the roots until reaching the treetop, from which they could see the ventilation shaft below.
Luo En said.
"Now—jump together."
Taiyaro remained tense, his twin blades already drawn.
At Luo En's command, the two immediately leapt toward the ventilation shaft.
The shaft was some distance away.
But they were no ordinary people—their leaping power was astonishing.
Moments later, they landed on the shaft; Taiyaro exhaled in relief.
"I thought this would be hard, but one jump was enough to get us across."
Luo En patted Taiyaro on the shoulder.
"Now let's go down."
They looked down through the shaft—beneath was completely invisible.
The shaft twisted and turned in several places.
When they jumped down, they landed on one of those bends, producing a loud crash.
Luo En held his breath, listening carefully—no curses seemed to have sensed the disturbance.
He relaxed, then crept forward silently.
After passing through the shaft, they finally reached the roof.
But now it seemed the entire roof was a maze of intersecting structures, making it hard to pinpoint the exact location.
Luo En said.
"We must get down now, but there's no exit here—we have to create one ourselves."
Taiyaro stared at Luo En in astonishment.
"Create an exit? How? If we make any loud noise, we'll surely attract the curses."
Luo En shook his head; he had borrowed a very sharp dagger from Taiyilang, then pointed to a curtain not far away.
They swiftly slashed a passage through the curtain and entered the room without incident.
Luo En and the others exhaled in relief, but the most critical moment had only just begun.
Their task was to locate the opponent's database and learn everything about this town.
At that moment, the Lord's Curse's voice sounded from outside.
He seemed to be asking about the situation of the curses in this area.
Luo En carefully slid down along the pipe.
He finally landed on the ground; the solid floor beneath his feet gave him a sense of reassurance.
He looked around but saw no sign of the so-called database.
Not far away, a sword appeared to be placed.
Although Luo En did not know what kind of sword it was, when he approached it, he felt a pang of heartache.
The object seemed to have formed some connection with him.
Luo En was astonished and hurried to the sword's side.
The sword glowed faintly; even without any light, it still emitted a soft radiance.
This made Luo En feel the sword must have a great origin.
Taiyilang came before Luo En and also saw the sword; he said in astonishment.
"This sword seems somewhat familiar—I remember seeing it somewhere before."
Luo En was deeply surprised and said.
"What kind of sword is this? It looks extremely sharp."
Taiyilang shook his head; although he had indeed seen this sword before, the time was too long ago and he could not recall clearly.
He could only feel that the sword was very familiar, and he said.
"Now that we're here, why not take the sword with us?"
Luo En thought for a moment, then nodded; he reached out and lifted the glass case above it.
As he reached out to grasp the sword, it suddenly trembled.
This startled Luo En—could the sword sense his presence?
He reached out again and pressed hard on the sword; the blade trembled even more violently.
Luo En felt the sword's resistance and asked in astonishment.
"What is going on with this sword? Does it have consciousness?"
Taiyilang also noticed this and said in surprise.
"Forget all that for now—just get it in hand first."
