Chapter 645
After saying that, he also tried hard to hold down the sword, and only by working together were they able to pin it in place.
Then Ron quickly gathered the sword in front of his body.
But the sword was making far too much noise.
If it stayed by his side, it would be very easy for others to discover.
Ron thought it over and decided to leave the sword at the ventilation shaft for now.
They would take the sword with them when they went out later.
So, with Taichiro's help, they made their way back to that ventilation shaft once more.
Ron stuck the sword into the ventilation shaft, then climbed back down with Taichiro.
They patrolled the surrounding area and ultimately gathered a few things.
But they didn't see the so-called database, which left Ron feeling rather puzzled.
Could the other side have mentioned it on purpose to deceive him? Yet, looking at the lord curse's eyes...
Ron believed there was no need for the other party to say such a thing.
The database must exist; he just didn't know where exactly it was.
Taichiro said.
"Could that so-called database be stored separately?
Maybe it's just a small room, or perhaps hidden underground.
In any case, finding what we're looking for might take some effort."
Ron shook his head. Since that thing was so mysterious, there probably weren't many who knew about it.
But in this small town, only a handful held important positions, so Ron decided to start with those people.
He said.
"Since everyone is looking for us now, let's take the initiative and let them have a taste of what I can do."
Saying that, they climbed back up to the ventilation shaft and escaped through it.
However, this time they weren't simply hiding; they were looking for opportunities.
Ron instantly took down several curses, dragged them to a hidden spot, and tied them all up.
When those curses came to and saw Ron and Taichiro, they all wore expressions of surprise.
"You still dare to show up? Aren't you afraid of the lord's wrath? When the time comes, they'll surely grind your bones and scatter your ashes."
Ron said.
"There are far too many people who'd like to grind my bones and scatter my ashes; we're not short on you few."
Saying that, he channeled a burst of curse power from his hand and slammed it hard into the curse.
The curse let out a scream, feeling as if his body was about to evaporate.
Ron said with a grin.
"That was only the first step, and you already can't take it."
After saying that, he threw another punch, and the curse began to beg for mercy.
"Giving up this quickly? I thought you were made of tougher stuff, but you're this soft."
Ron threw another punch, and the curse felt his body was on the verge of collapse.
That punch, imbued with curse power, could easily kill him.
The curse said.
"Whatever you want to know, I'll tell you—just please stop hitting me."
Ron looked at the curse with a grin.
"Didn't expect it to be this easy. Do you know where that database is?"
The curse shook his head, his face full of terror.
"What database? We've never even heard of such a thing."
The curses beside him also shook their heads and said.
"We've never heard of any database."
Ron threw another punch, and the curse now had only a single breath left.
If Ron threw one more punch, he would likely die on the spot.
The other curses watching were scared stiff, shaking their heads frantically.
"Really, we swear to you, we don't know anything about any database."
Ron said.
"In that case, there's no point in keeping you around."
Saying that, he threw another punch, and those curses were sent reeling by it, black mist pouring from their bodies.
They didn't even have the strength to stand up anymore.
Taichiro frowned and said to Ron.
"It looks like these small fry don't know anything about that thing at all. To find out about it, we'll have to go after their higher-ups."
But the higher-ups of the curses were all extremely powerful; they wouldn't be as easy to catch as these small fry.
Ron nodded and said.
"In that case, we'll have to start making a plan."
The bound curses all stared at Ron in terror, hoping he would spare them.
But unexpectedly, Ron unleashed his curse power in an instant and killed all of those curses.
They now focused their attention on the curses by the lord curse's side.
They had already encountered those few individuals before; although their strength wasn't particularly great, they were still far stronger than these curses.
So dealing with them wouldn't be as simple as it is now.
Taiyirang suddenly spoke.
"I think I can act as bait."
"Once I'm captured, I can get close to those around the curses, then act as the situation demands."
But Luo En shook his head.
"No, the risk is too great. No one knows how they'll treat you."
"They might kill you immediately. We must proceed steadily."
Taiyirang said, concerned.
"But we're running out of time. We don't know what they'll do to us."
"And we must win this battle—we need extraordinary measures."
Luo En frowned tightly, his fingers constantly tapping the table; his mood was deeply troubled.
On one hand, he wanted to eliminate the curses; on the other, he didn't want those around him to be put in danger.
Though this was hard to achieve, it was still Luo En's wish.
For the past few days, Luo En had been observing the curses, and he noticed they had lost interest in searching for them.
They hadn't even resumed their previous work patterns, leading Luo En to believe this might be the moment.
But Taiyirang said:
"That's impossible. Why would they suddenly lose interest? Could they be trying to lure us in on purpose?"
Luo En said:
"It's not impossible. But our options are running out."
"If we don't act soon, they might come up with a real plan to counter us."
At nightfall, Luo En captured another curse.
This curse held no high rank, but wasn't low either—roughly mid-level.
When captured, he cursed loudly, but Luo En subdued him with spiritual force.
Luo En demanded sharply:
"What plan are you devising?"
The curse glared at Luo En.
"I don't know their plan at all."
Luo En punched him, and the curse felt as if he were about to disintegrate; he gritted his teeth and said:
"Even if you kill me, I still won't know—they only ever let a few people plan."
