Chapter 673
"This guy is extremely dangerous; we must be cautious now—he might strike at us secretly."
At that moment, a commotion sounded from nearby; Luo En and the girl immediately rushed over, only to see Taiyilang facing off against a curse.
"What happened?"
Luo En shouted loudly, then arrived at Taiyilang's side.
Taiyilang said.
"This guy looks highly suspicious—he's been sneaking around here, and I saw him just now eavesdropping near your door, so I came out immediately to stop him, but he attacked me instead."
The curse let out an angry roar and said.
"This is completely baseless—I've been patrolling nearby the whole time; this guy suddenly sneaked up and ambushed me. If I hadn't reacted quickly, I'd already be dead."
It was clear that both the curse and Taiyilang were extremely angry, and Luo En could sense their fury wasn't faked—they truly had encountered something.
Luo En asked in surprise.
"What exactly is going on? Why are you two giving conflicting accounts?"
The girl also looked helpless and said.
"I bet this guy is behind all of this—perhaps he created all of this."
Then he brought Taiyilang and the curse to his own door; when Taiyilang and the curse saw the characters on the door, their expressions changed.
"This—this is impossible. We've been right here the whole time, so why didn't we notice anyone coming here?"
Then Taiyilang looked at the curse.
"Only he came here, and he was sneaking glances this way—I'm certain he did this."
The curse immediately denied it.
"Unfair! This is a complete frame-up—I've never left this area, never come near this door, I don't even recognize these characters, and our handwriting is completely different. If I'd done this, in such a tense moment, how could I possibly have mimicked another's handwriting?"
As he spoke, he casually drew a few characters on the ground; it was clear they were vastly different.
Luo En said.
"If the opponent is this strange, we must prepare in advance."
Then they stationed many watchers nearby and set up numerous traps; if the opponent dared step here, he would surely be injured by these traps.
After finishing all this, the girl said anxiously.
"I don't know if these measures will work at all—the opponent is too mysterious and unpredictable; these things might not stop him at all."
Luo En nodded; his senses were already extremely sharp—anyone near him would be immediately detectable, yet he had sensed nothing during the previous encounters.
That meant the opponent's ability could completely evade Luo En's sensory perception—extremely terrifying. Luo En knew he might now be facing an unprecedentedly difficult opponent.
26, Bandits
Luo En's face changed drastically; he could feel murderous intent flickering in those men's eyes—they had already treated them as captives.
The leader, a man clad in animal hides, stepped before Luo En and shouted loudly.
"Why did you come here?"
Luo En had already furrowed his brow tightly.
"That's a question I should be asking you—who are you? Why did you tie us up here?"
As he spoke, he looked around; besides the men in animal hides, no one else was present.
Luo En's heart grew cold; he didn't know their intentions, but he could sense a strange aura emanating from all around.
The man stepped toward Luo En, preparing to kick him—but Luo En suddenly spoke.
"If you want to harm us, be careful—though we're tied up here, I'll break free soon, and then you'll regret it."
The man glared at Luo En and laughed.
"You think you can fight us?"
As he spoke, he brought his foot down—but Luo En suddenly twisted his body, dodging the attack, then slammed his entire weight onto the man's foot.
The man never expected this trick; he had no time to react, and in that instant his foot was crushed by Luo En.
The man screamed in agony and roared loudly.
"You brat dared hurt me! Everyone, attack! Kill them!"
But the others didn't rush forward—they looked helplessly at the man writhing on the ground, moaning.
"We already told you not to act rashly—these guys are our newly captured loot. If you kill them, where will we get our money?"
As he spoke, he walked forward and helped the man back; the man's leg was completely broken. Luo En's explosive power in that instant had startled him—thankfully Luo En was tightly bound, or else none of them here might have stood a chance.
The man pointed at his broken leg and shouted.
"This brat broke my leg—how do we settle this? Are we just going to let them go?"
Luo En looked at the man and said.
"If you hadn't tried to attack me, I wouldn't have broken your leg. But breaking your leg is still a minor punishment—if you truly dare harm us, it won't be just a broken leg."
The man glared at Luo En and said.
"Then I'll kill you both right now—see how you can resist while tied up here."
Another man shouted loudly.
"Enough! Stop fooling around—the situation is urgent. We must dispose of them quickly. I heard the buyer is already waiting outside; don't make him wait too long, or he'll get impatient."
As he spoke, they moved forward to seize Luo En.
Luo En frowned tightly and asked.
"Where are you taking us?"
The man said.
"Someone wants to buy your lives—but luckily, my brothers and I took this job. We didn't expect to knock you out so easily; looks like this money will be easy to make."
Luo En didn't want trouble; he knew his situation was precarious, and from these men's expressions, he could tell they were professional kidnappers.
Moreover, the person hiding in the shadows had not yet appeared, and Luo En could detect no trace of them; he was deeply anxious, so he shouted out loud.
"How much did they pay you? I'll offer double—if you let us go, the money is all yours."
The man said.
"Though we want to make money, once we've promised someone something, we never go back on our word—we have professional ethics. This time, we'll just take you to the client first."
Then they shoved and hustled Luo En to a very secluded corner; the men looked around, and one of them said.
"What's going on? Why isn't he here?"
Another also looked around in surprise—they truly detected no trace of the client—and Luo En spoke now.
"I suppose they've reneged. Since they've stood you up, you should make this deal with me now—my offer won't be lower than theirs."
Luo En hoped to use this as a breakthrough to learn information about the person trying to strike him—perhaps that person was the one hiding in the shadows.
All of them turned to Luo En; they were now furious, for the man truly had not appeared, yet they would not believe Luo En—they wouldn't make a deal with him so easily.
At that moment, Luo En caught a faint scent of blood; it startled him—in this environment, the smell was too strong.
He looked around but saw no bloodstains, proving the blood must be far away—yet such a distant source could still carry here? Luo En felt something was wrong.
But Luo En showed no expression, only said calmly.
"I advise you to leave quickly—this place seems unsafe."
The man said.
"Don't listen to this brat's nonsense. Let's wait here a bit longer—the client will surely show up."
The others nodded; this deal was extremely important to them—it could bring them a large sum of money.
As time passed, Luo En felt the bloodstink growing stronger, and he sensed a strange energy slowly gathering not far away.
Luo En frowned tightly; clearly, the one coming meant harm—he said.
"We must leave immediately—this place is extremely dangerous."
But the men paid no attention to Luo En's warning; they stared at him.
"If you keep playing clever tricks, we won't treat you gently."
The girl beside them suddenly said.
"Don't you all smell a very strong stench of blood?"
At her words, the men sharply sniffed the air; one of them said.
"There really is a blood smell—what's going on? Lao San, go check it out."
The man called Lao San immediately walked over.
Luo En watched him nervously; he could feel the energy beginning to slowly release—clearly, if he walked over recklessly, he'd likely be attacked by it.
Luo En said.
