Chapter 674
"Don't go over there; it seems unusual."
But those few people glared at Luo En and ignored him; the third brother even sneered at Luo En's words—he had already arrived near that place.
27, Bloodthirsty Kage
Moments later, everyone heard a terrified scream; the third brother stumbled back, shouting loudly.
"There's blood there—a huge pool of it; it doesn't look like it came from just one person."
All those people stared at the third brother in shock.
"Did you see it clearly? Is that really blood?"
The third brother nodded.
"Yes, I saw it clearly—it's definitely blood, and a huge pool; it must have taken many people to produce that much, but I didn't see any corpses."
Those people immediately drew their long knives and walked toward that direction.
Luo En said.
"If there's danger, untie me first—if anyone kills me, you won't get your money."
The few men exchanged glances, then left the third brother behind.
"Keep a close watch on them; don't let them escape."
The other few rushed toward that location.
The third brother looked very young and had little experience; he nervously watched Luo En and the girl.
"Don't try any tricks, or you'll regret it."
Luo En smiled faintly.
"Of course, we have no tricks to play—but those few might be in danger."
Having just seen that huge pool of blood and smelled the thick stench of it, the third brother still hadn't recovered; he spoke nervously.
"Do you know what those things are? Why did they turn like this?"
Luo En shook his head.
"I can't yet determine what it is, but its terrifying nature is beyond imagination."
Then he looked at the girl.
"Could it be a curse?"
The girl shook her head.
"Impossible—if it were a curse, I would've sensed their power long ago; so far, I haven't felt anything unusual there."
As they spoke, sudden screams erupted ahead, followed by an even stronger stench of blood drifting over.
The third brother's face turned pale instantly.
Luo En immediately grew serious and shouted.
"Untie me quickly—I need to go see what's happening."
The third brother hesitated; after all, his companions had repeatedly warned him to keep Luo En under watch—if he let Luo En and the others escape, he'd surely be punished by his brothers.
Just then, more screams rang out nearby, and a figure stumbled toward them—but just as he neared, a strange force split him cleanly in two.
In an instant, his body was flung outward, and a flood of blood poured onto the ground, leaving a vast pool.
Seeing this scene, he felt suffocated; when he recognized the man lying on the ground as his own companion, his face turned as white as paper, and he cried out in terror.
"Who is that?"
Luo En shouted.
"Untie me now—if you wait another moment, we'll all be dead."
The third brother hastily untied Luo En; Luo En then cut the ropes binding the girl, and the two of them sprinted toward that direction.
The third brother followed behind them, staring in horror at what lay ahead—he didn't want to see it, but the scene soon flooded his vision.
The ground was littered with corpses in every direction, and vast pools of blood had turned the area into a bloody stream; the thick stench of blood assaulted his nose, making him want to vomit.
Nothing could compare to the visual horror before him; in that instant, the third brother's legs gave out, and he collapsed to his knees.
"What's going on here? What happened to them?"
The third brother muttered to himself, unable to think clearly.
Luo En shouted.
"Leave this place—don't linger here."
Then he grabbed the third brother and sprinted rapidly in another direction—but just then, the stench of blood suddenly coalesced, and the blood on the ground surged together, forming a human shape.
Luo En suddenly sensed a powerful presence behind him; he knew the enemy had finally revealed itself—but he couldn't turn around.
Because he felt a strange, ominous aura creeping up from behind—if he turned, he'd likely be severely wounded.
The third brother cried out in terror.
"What is that thing?"
Luo En said.
"I once heard a legend: in places with massive bloodstains, a creature called a Blood Demon forms—it isn't truly a living being, but pure energy."
"But the Blood Demon craves blood; wherever blood exists, it may appear—what we just saw might be it."
The girl said.
"I'd heard the name of such a demon before, but I never paid attention—I never imagined I'd actually face one."
Blood is the Blood Demon's food—and also its weapon.
Moments later, Luo En and the girl smelled an even stronger stench of blood; the scent spread around them, and Luo En soon felt the aura nearly drilling into his heart—this odor could corrupt a person's mind.
Luo En felt a surge of murderous intent rising within him.
The girl sensed the aura emanating from Luo En and shouted.
"Quickly calm your mind and steady your breath—don't let this force infect you."
Luo En tried to sink his emotions into stillness, but he could feel that force raging into his body, eventually seeping into his heart— in that moment, Luo En felt an intense, unnatural fondness for slaughter.
And when the scent of blood reached his nostrils, he actually felt it exuding a fragrant aroma.
"No, I feel something's wrong with my state."
Luo En whispered.
His face turned ghastly; though he still pressed forward, he had no choice but to stop.
The girl's expression shifted slightly as she spoke.
"Don't stop—keep moving forward."
But Luo En could no longer take a step; he felt blood surging endlessly through his chest, and now he sensed his condition was deeply wrong.
Lao San stared at Luo En—his face was flushed crimson, and his eyes glowed red; clearly, he had already been infected by that force, and he began muttering incoherently.
Luo En couldn't understand what he was saying, but he felt the killing intent radiating from him— in that brief delay, the blood-red Kage had already appeared before them.
28, Blood Demon Domain
The Blood Demon caught up to them; Luo En felt the terrifying aura emanating from the Blood Demon—not merely the scent of blood, but also the taste of death.
Luo En sensed the Blood Demon had been deliberately placed here; the true killer was not the Blood Demon, but someone else, for that person's body radiated the strongest stench of blood.
Yet that energy was not obvious; the energy Luo En sensed differed greatly from the Blood Demon's.
Luo En quietly shared his suspicion with the girl; she frowned tightly.
"Then what exactly is going on? Who's behind these tricks?"
Luo En said.
"They definitely want to kill us— but I don't know why they'd do this."
The Blood Demon was drawing nearer; Luo En now held energy in his hands, and as the Blood Demon approached, he unleashed it.
The Blood Demon seemed infected by that energy and recoiled swiftly—but the energy he had released had already tainted Luo En's heart.
In that instant, Luo En felt overwhelming agitation; the energy he had unleashed now carried a trace of frenzied power.
The girl quickly sensed the energy radiating from Luo En; she knew he must not be influenced by their power. She tried to warn him, but by now, the Root of his control had already shattered.
The Blood Demon was soon struck by Luo En's attack, flying backward and crashing hard against the wall— the solid wall cracked open into a deep crater.
Luo En appeared instantly before the Blood Demon; the Blood Demon thrashed wildly, trying to strike him, but Luo En's single impact drove him straight into the earth.
The Blood Demon struggled to crawl out, but Luo En crushed him underfoot— in this fleeting moment, the force Luo En unleashed far exceeded his own capacity.
Lao San and the girl stood frozen, unable to believe Luo En could unleash such an attack; Lao San, uneasy, spoke to the girl.
"Is he always like this?"
