Chapter 676

~7 min read 1,225 words

Luo En said.

"So what is our relationship? Why did you attack me?"

The voice seemed surprised.

"Attacked you? Of course, because you intruded into my forbidden zone—this castle is what I've built over many years."

Luo En was stunned; he never imagined things would take this turn.

Now that he had the chance to look around, the environment indeed appeared meticulously maintained—he had originally assumed the bandits had tidied it up for their dealings.

But only now did he realize that, as the man had said, this might be his residence.

Luo En said.

"If it's because we intruded, you could have warned us—but why kill us without cause?"

30, Forbidden Zone

The voice was clearly growing impatient.

"This is my territory—I kill whomever I want. When did you earn the right to interfere?"

The girl gently tugged Luo En's sleeve, signaling him not to provoke the other further, but Luo En was now furious.

The man had killed without warning and used the stench of blood to provoke him, altering his inner state; Luo En had not yet shaken off his previous emotions, and now an unnamed fire blazed fiercely within him.

"I don't know who you are, or why you built this place—but killing without cause makes me furious."

The voice laughed loudly.

"Even if you're furious, what can you do? You can't even catch my shadow—what can you do to me? And soon, both of you will die here. I won't let anyone escape."

Luo En laughed bitterly with rage.

"Is that so? Then let me see how powerful you really are."

Fueled by rage, Luo En felt his inner energy surging wildly; he no longer cared about restraint—he would release it all.

In an instant, Luo En lunged forward, unleashing all his energy at once—a terrifying force swept outward in every direction.

Though he couldn't see the opponent's location, he vaguely sensed the energy's position, so he poured out his energy without reservation toward that direction.

"I'll drag you out no matter where you hide."

Luo En was now consumed by rage, his face flushed crimson; he felt an unprecedented fury, stirred by the blood's stench—he had become like a different person.

Even the girl watching beside him felt fear; she had never seen Luo En like this.

With a thunderous boom, all surrounding energy surged toward him at once, and Luo En became the shadow of that energy—guiding it all toward a single point.

At that moment, a black shadow suddenly appeared in the void, plummeting to the ground; Luo En lunged forward and slammed his hand down upon it.

The shadow struggled desperately but could not break free from Luo En's grip; he exclaimed in shock.

"How did you find me? I was hidden so well."

Luo En lifted him up, then casually threw him to the ground, sealing his energy.

The power they had just unleashed could easily seal off the energy around him—he was trapped now, with no escape.

Then Luo En stepped forward and planted his foot on the man's chest.

"Now tell me—whose territory is this?"

The man immediately felt terror; Luo En's killing intent was palpable—he had no doubt Luo En could kill him in an instant.

Though still unwilling inside, he had no choice but to yield to Luo En.

Luo En applied slight pressure—the man screamed in agony; with the energy Luo En now unleashed, he could sever the man's life force instantly.

At once, the girl rushed over and grabbed Luo En's arm.

"Don't kill him here—we still have important questions to ask him."

Only then did Luo En regain a sliver of clarity; he immediately reined in his power. In that moment, the girl had feared he had lost his mind—if he had truly gone mad, she would have struck without hesitation.

But now it seemed Luo En had not lost control—he still held his reason firmly.

The girl stepped before the man, who stared at her in terror.

"What do you want?"

The girl spoke coolly.

"You say those corpses weren't made by you—can you prove it?"

The man stared at her in confusion.

"What are you talking about? I don't understand."

The girl then lifted him up and brought him to the place where the corpses had been found.

The man looked at the corpses and shook his head.

"These weren't made by me—they have nothing to do with me. I've always stayed in that place and never left."

The girl said.

"Do you recognize the energy he released? This person resembles you—he moves like a ghost, and we can't sense his presence at all."

"He often lingers near us, making us feel his presence. He must also possess the ability to conceal his form—where did you get this ability?"

The man shook his head.

"I don't know what you're talking about. This concealment ability is innate to me."

Then he pointed at the corpses.

"I didn't do this—none of it has anything to do with me."

After saying that, he turned to leave, but Ron stepped in front of him and blocked his way.

"If you don't explain clearly, we won't let you leave."

Luo En's hand erupted with energy again—he held it before the man's face. The energy was terrifying; once touched, it would instantly inflict severe damage.

The man sensed the terrifying nature of this energy, his expression shifting slightly, and he reiterated:

"I had no idea about this at all; it has nothing to do with me."

But Luo En asked.

"Your ability to conceal your form cannot possibly be innate—who taught you? Speak honestly."

The mysterious figure had caused great trouble for Luo En and the others, so they would not overlook any detail.

The man said helplessly.

"When I was first born, a sudden energy flooded into my body, and then it took root entirely within me. At that time, I didn't know what these abilities could bring me."

"But as time passed, it seemed to constantly alter my body; afterward, whenever I willed it, I would become transparent and vanish into an incredibly strange place where no one could find me."

Luo En said.

"So it's because of this energy inside you that you can conceal your form so thoroughly."

The man nodded.

"Yes, it is precisely because of that energy that I can do this."

Luo En looked at the girl.

"Could it be that this person also has such energy inside him, which is why he can appear and disappear so mysteriously?"

The girl nodded.

"It's very possible—but how can we find him now?"

The man said.

"Since you now know I'm innocent, may I leave?"

Luo En shook his head.

"You cannot leave until the real killer is caught."

31, Beast

The man glared angrily at Luo En.

"Do you intend to imprison me here?"

Though deeply unwilling, he had no choice but to stay; Luo En asked him many questions about concealment, and he answered them all quickly.

Luo En understood: this concealment involved drawing in the energy and transforming it into an unobservable state.

The man had great mastery over concealment; as they exchanged information, Luo En suddenly said.

"I have a request—if you help me, you will gain your freedom soon."

The man stared at Luo En in surprise.

"What is it? Say it."
