Chapter 678

The giant beast beside the man suddenly roared, spewing fire once more; Luo En darted swiftly through the flames, and moments later he appeared right before the man.

The man seemed to have anticipated this move of Luo En's; he remained calm, gazing at Luo En with indifference.

Luo En struck suddenly, his fist piercing straight through the man's chest.

Yet in that instant, Luo En felt something was wrong—he hadn't struck solid flesh, but as if he'd punched empty air.

Indeed, the man's form vanished abruptly; Luo En realized he had merely struck a lingering afterimage.

"If it were me, I wouldn't act so recklessly."

The voice suddenly appeared beside Luo En's ear; he sensed the man was everywhere, and he struck again, attacking the direction of the sound.

But again he missed—the man wasn't there at all.

"If the first time was your carelessness, now it's clear your strength is vastly inferior to mine."

The man laughed heartily, treating Luo En with utter contempt.

Having missed twice, Luo En felt the man was ghostlike, nearly impossible to catch—but he wasn't panicked; instead, he calmed his mind and carefully sensed the man's position.

No matter how powerful the man was, he must still move along normal trajectories; Luo En decided to predict his movements, though achieving this was far from easy.

When Luo En's mind fell into stillness, the man seemed surprised—he hadn't expected Luo En to emit no fierce energy, but to stand there silently.

"Stop pretending. Do you really think this state of yours can defeat me?"

The man chuckled.

Then he flickered forward, appearing before Luo En, ready to strike.

But at that moment Luo En suddenly opened his eyes; the man was stunned by Luo En's gaze—in that instant, he felt as if facing a stranger, and before his hand even touched Luo En, it was seized.

The man was shocked—he never imagined Luo En's reaction could be so swift; he had expected this move to instantly cripple Luo En, yet now he himself was subdued.

Suddenly, a terrifying surge of energy erupted from Luo En, pouring entirely onto the man.

The man hadn't anticipated Luo En's sudden strike would unleash such power; his face turned pale as he struggled to break free, but he felt a tremendous suction in Luo En's grip—he used all his strength yet couldn't escape.

"If you lose your ghostlike speed, what do you have left?"

Luo En said calmly; the energy had already severely wounded the man.

Luo En released his grip; the man was blasted away by immense force, crashing heavily to the ground, dazed and unable to recover.

Luo En walked up to the man, placing one foot on his chest; now the man felt his strength had been suddenly stripped away.

"Damn it, how did you do that?"

The man was utterly astonished.

Luo En said.

"Your speed is indeed swift, and your stealth impresses me greatly. But at the crucial moment, you overlooked one thing.

You're too arrogant—you assumed no one could track your speed, yet I didn't care about your speed; I cared about your movement trajectory.

So the moment you moved, I knew exactly where your next strike would land, and I waited there in advance.

And indeed, you acted exactly as I predicted—you stopped precisely there, which was the trap I had envisioned."

The man stared at Luo En in astonishment, his eyes filled with admiration.

"I never imagined you were so different from what I expected."

Luo En bound the man with a special rope.

"Now tell me, how many people have you killed?"

The man sighed and raised his hand helplessly.

"I've killed countless people—I can't even count them myself. But being caught by you this time was purely accidental."

He smiled at Luo En and the girl, showing no regret despite being subdued.

"If you think this is enough to kill me, you're terribly naive."

Luo En frowned tightly.

"Still stubborn even as death approaches."

As he spoke, he gathered energy in his hand.

The man saw Luo En's energy, yet remained utterly unmoved.
