Chapter 689: Giant Creature

~6 min read 1,036 words

The creature lifted its head, gazing at the massive shadow; it suddenly thrust out its hand—BOOM—a deafening crash as the shadow and the creature's palm collided, halting abruptly, while a powerful airflow erupted outward in all directions.

Luo En used all his strength to resist this force, meanwhile shielding the others, but he felt a surge of qi and blood churning; it took a long while before it settled.

The man's expression gradually darkened; he had assumed his palm strike would crush the opponent, yet he never expected the opponent not only caught his palm, but during the collision, he could sense the energy bursting from the opponent—terribly potent, even slightly surpassing his own.

How is this possible? What kind of thing is this? How could it unleash such overwhelming power? Yet the man was not worried, for he was immortal; but he sensed the terrifying nature of the opponent's energy, and feared the opponent might realize his advantage and trap him.

Indeed, the creature did not kill the man, but rushed at him wildly, beginning to construct all manner of energy around him.

"Damn it, you flea, don't think you can stop me with such tricks."

The man roared in fury, unleashing energy desperately, trying to push the opponent back.

Yet the energy released from their collision had already destroyed the surrounding area, yet the creature showed not the slightest retreat.

Luo En, seeing the situation before him, nodded and said.

"Now is the moment—we strike immediately and subdue him."

As he spoke, he charged forward; Taiyaro and Nai Zi also gripped their dual blades and rushed in swiftly.

The man had not anticipated Luo En and the others charging in at this moment; he instantly understood Luo En's intent and shouted loudly.

"Don't think you can defeat me with such tactics—you're naive. I'll make you suffer my wrath."

Luo En said calmly.

"You're already dead and still boasting? We know your ability, and we know how to break it. Surely now you cannot revive."

As he spoke, Luo En plunged both blades directly into the man's armpits; these wounds were not fatal, but they could lock his energy.

The man immediately felt suffocated; he hoped Luo En would kill him, so he could revive quickly, yet he discovered his energy had been locked by Luo En—and worse, the monster smashed his legs with a single punch, shattering them.

During their earlier clash, he had sensed the monster's terrifying power, so he had been extremely cautious—precisely because of this caution that he gave Luo En and the others their opening.

This time, Luo En and the others' attacks would not deliver fatal blows, but would rob him of mobility; when he lay prostrate on the ground, Luo En swiftly moved in and pinned him down tightly.

Though he had just undergone three cycles of nirvana and his power was terrifying, now, with the strange creature blocking him, he could not resist Luo En and the others' restraint—he was slammed to the ground in an instant.

Luo En said.

"So you're nothing special after all."

The man said coolly.

"I never imagined you'd force me this far."

Luo En heard the calm beneath his voice, giving him a bad premonition—this guy was extremely cunning, with endless tricks; clearly, the opponent was not yet desperate, so Luo En exerted his full strength, fearing the man might still resist their hold.

"If you think my power ends here, you're terribly naive."

The voice carried a mocking laugh.

Luo En roared angrily.

"What other tricks do you have? Use them all—I refuse to believe you can resist all of us together!"

Though pinned to the ground, the man still laughed heartily.

"It turns out I have more tricks than you thought—and do you truly believe you've stopped me?"

Luo En was stunned; he looked down and saw he was pinning a straw doll. The man stood silently before them.

"I merely used a tiny illusion to fool you—clearly, you're easy to deceive."

Everyone now watched the man warily, while the strange creature immediately charged again—it clashed with the man once more, yet the man avoided direct confrontation, swiftly retreating and reappearing before the girl.

"If I'm not mistaken, this thing was created by you, wasn't it?"

The girl turned pale; she struck out instantly, trying to create distance, but the man clung to her like a leech—no matter how she fled, he remained right behind her.

Luo En rushed forward, using energy to evade the man.

The man regarded the girl with interest.

"I never imagined you could create life—and that this life possesses such immense power. It makes me realize you're highly valuable."

The girl said.

"I will never spare you—you'll soon feel the true terror we can unleash."

The man laughed.

"Really? Yet even now, you're still dancing to my tune—proving you're nothing special. Even all of you together aren't my match."

As he spoke, the monster charged again, yet the man vanished silently; the monster's punch smashed a massive crater into the ground, but missed entirely.

"Though this monster is indeed strong, it looks utterly stupid—no match for me. Do you really think I'd fall for the same trick twice?"

Luo En sensed the man was treating them with amusement, clearly enjoying their vigilance and fear—but Luo En also knew this was the arrogance every overconfident man made, and precisely this mistake was their chance to strike back effectively.

Luo En said calmly.

"You're indeed powerful, and we've felt your terrifying strength. Since you're already this strong, why must you kill ten thousand to forge the Ten Thousand Souls Art?"

The man laughed.

"Of course—the Ten Thousand Souls Art is the ultimate technique. Once perfected, all of this world becomes mine for the taking. That anticipation is beyond your understanding—and I don't need you to understand. You only need to wait quietly for death."

Luo En secretly signaled the girl; then he slowly moved toward the other side—they intended a pincer attack to force the opponent's hand.

But Luo En knew this strategy had slim odds, so he also secretly transmitted a message to Taiyaro and Nai Zi—they must unite, to swiftly dismantle the opponent's power.
