Chapter 153: Heavy Snow Blocks the Door, Not Necessarily a Sign of a Bountiful Year (Extra Chapter 1)

~8 min read 1,447 words

An Yinan handed the medicine bottle to her grandmother, who smiled and rubbed An Yinan's little face, "My Nan Nan is the one who cares for people. Alright, Grandmother will remember."

Liu Xicai was just about to stop her, as the old lady's medicine was all managed by the Military District Hospital, and she feared the effects might clash.

Yun Fei, however, raised his hand to stop Liu Xicai, then looked at An Yinan, "Does your grandmother need to take any other medicine?"

An Yinan shook her head, "Let her take this one first; one pill every three days. Let's have her take it for a month and see."

"Alright, Xicai, remember to remind Mom to take it." Yun Fei knew the power of the hemostatic medicine pills.

Now, the major military districts already had a reserve of the hemostatic pills; according to preliminary statistics, this pill had saved the lives of so many of his soldiers.

As for An Yinan's medicine, he trusted it one hundred percent.

"Alright." Liu Xicai nodded and even made a special note of it, just in case she forgot.

Since her husband didn't object, it meant that Nan Nan did things reliably, so she stopped worrying about anything.

During her month in Beijing, An Yinan participated in a project, formulated a future translation plan, and also spent a month accompanying Beibei.

During this month, whenever she had time, she would personally pick up and drop off Beibei, letting him feel his older sister's love.

Furthermore, meeting the Yun Family members had fulfilled a wish, and she had also refined Health Pills for her grandmother.

On the day of her departure, the Yun Family gathered together once more. Following An Yinan's refusal, Beibei continued to live at Peng Yi's house. The two little ones had a very good relationship, and Peng Yi was also reluctant to part with Beibei. Moreover, the eldest aunt had to go to work every day, the eldest uncle was often not at home, and Beibei needed special transport to school, so living at Peng Yi's house was very convenient.

"Sister, when will you come again?" Beibei asked with reluctance.

An Yinan rubbed his soft hair; Beibei was already up to her chin now, and in another two years, he would be taller than her.

"It will have to be next year." An Yinan could not bring herself to lie, and her Beibei did not need meaningless deception.

Beibei nodded, "Come over earlier next year."

An Yinan smiled, "Alright."

In the end, Yun Qi sent An Yinan to the train, and Yun Mo and Yun Shu were still by An Yinan's side.

The two of them had already grown accustomed to being by her side. After this debriefing, Yun Fei had given Yun Shu and Yun Mo a choice: either continue into the Special Operations Team or continue their current mission.

In the past, the two of them had wished more than anything to return to the Special Operations Team, but they didn't know when it started, they had forgotten their own wishes and instead wanted to guard An Yinan.

The two of them were resolute and chose to stay by An Yinan's side.

Correspondingly, they were officially transferred out of the Special Operations Team's establishment.

Originally, they were supposed to change trains midway, but unexpectedly, before they even reached Heilongjiang Province, the train service was suspended; heavy snow had blocked the mountains.

Looking at the snow filling the sky, An Yinan frowned. Such snow reminded her of a report from the past.

The spring planting next year would likely have to be delayed.

"Leader, what should we do?" Yun Mo and Yun Shu looked at An Yinan.

"Let's find a Guest House to rest for now," An Yinan said.

The trains had all stopped, let alone traveling by car; she wasn't going to risk her life, it really wasn't worth it.

The three of them settled into a Guest House. Yun Mo and Yun Shu had various forms of identification on them, so there was no need to worry about wasting time.

"Hot water is on the first floor, just carry it up yourselves. No visiting other rooms. Lock your doors and windows at night; our Guest House is not responsible if things go missing." The person on night duty, having had their rest disturbed, said this with a bad attitude.

Looking at the heavy snow outside, Yun Mo directly booked the rooms for a week. Now that the mountains were blocked outside, it was hard to say when they could leave, and as more and more people gathered, rooms would become harder to find. It was better to just pay for a week's rent upfront, and they could extend it later.

Yun Shu carried three kettles up. Because An Yinan was used to sleeping alone, they opened three rooms, with Yun Mo and Yun Shu sandwiching An Yinan's room in the middle.

Being away from home, if it weren't for her space, it would actually be most convenient to stay with Yun Shu.

However, she did not want to delay the translation progress, so she could only make such a fastidious arrangement.

After returning to her room, An Yinan first went into her space to take a bath, and only opened the door when she heard a knock.

"Leader, you can't buy food outside right now. This is a pancake from the train; soak it in hot water and eat a little," Yun Shu said.

An Yinan looked at the hard pancake, then looked at Yun Shu, "I'm not hungry, you two just split it and eat it."

Yun Shu saw that An Yinan really didn't want to eat, so he nodded.

Returning to the space, she heated up two meat buns to fill her stomach first.

The secret of the space was something she couldn't help; even if she were heartless, she had to do this.

Sitting in front of the desk, she began her daily translation plan, and once she sat down, it was another all-nighter.

The heavy snow continued, and the snow on the ground grew deeper and deeper, already covering the base of her thighs. People of small stature could not move an inch, let alone those small children, who were already confined to their homes and unable to go out.

"Leader, the people in the City have started organizing snow clearing, and people from the Provincial Capital have also come down. The railway is being cleared rapidly, but it is estimated to take at least two more days," Yun Shu said coldly.

The current situation was not good. Although it snowed every year in the north, this was truly the first time there had been such heavy snow.

"I'll go out and take a look." An Yinan wrapped herself up well and then walked out the door of the Guest House. The people in the city were still doing okay for now; every time a layer of snow fell, they would organize people to clear it. By the walls and under the trees, large amounts of snow were piled up, already almost as high as the roofs.

An Yinan walked around the city and then found the State-run Restaurant.

"Today we only have vegetable wontons and buns." The person issuing the tickets was an older sister.

The restaurant was cold and deserted, with almost no one inside; she figured there wouldn't be many customers in the morning.

"Could you please help me get three bowls of wontons and twenty buns? Any filling is fine," An Yinan said with a smile. Seeing people with a smile made things very easy to handle.

That older sister efficiently issued the ticket and collected the money, then pointed to a table and said, "Wait here for a while, I'll have the kitchen cook the wontons."

An Yinan's main strategy was to be obedient; wherever she was told to sit, she would sit, and she would absolutely not change her position!

Then, after waiting silently for twenty minutes, the three bowls of wontons were finally brought out. Eating the hot wontons with a body that had been cold immediately made her feel warm.

"Sister, does it often snow this heavily here?" An Yinan asked curiously.

That older sister was also bored, and since there was no one else around, she started chatting with An Yinan, "How could it? In the forty-some years I've been alive, it has never snowed this heavily. I'm afraid this is a sign of disaster."

An Yinan was silent for a moment. Snow blocking the door is not necessarily a sign of a bountiful harvest.

It could also be a snow disaster!
