Chapter 154: Robbery? (Bonus 2)
"Sister, let me tell you, if this snow keeps up like this, what are we going to do about the spring planting next year?"
The heavy snow was too cold; if the spring planting could not be sown in time, then next year's harvest would have no guarantee.
Every farmer relied on the harvest to survive.
"This Heaven, it wants the lives of the common people."
An Yinan comforted her, "Perhaps it will melt in a couple of days. The state will definitely find a way; we common folk just need to listen to those above."
"Hah, those above, how could those above possibly care about us?"
The two chatted aimlessly, and An Yinan ordered ten more steamed buns as a cover; the three of them slowly trudged through the snow back to the Guest House.
But after returning to the room, An Yinan's eyes suddenly darkened.
Her door had been tampered with.
At the same time, Yun Shu and Yun Mo flanked An Yinan in the center; Yun Mo opened the door directly and then quickly entered the room.
Yun Shu stood behind An Yinan, watching the movement in the hallway at all times.
"Enter," Yun Mo said.
The three of them quickly entered the room, and seeing the signs of it being ransacked, all three pondered for a moment.
"Leader, check to see what is missing," Yun Shu said.
An Yinan actually didn't have much in the room; she was in the habit of keeping things in her space, and the suitcase she was carrying basically only contained some changes of clothes.
"Nothing is missing; you two go back to your rooms and check," An Yinan shook her head.
Yun Shu, however, said, "He go back first, I will stand guard."
The two exchanged a glance, and Yun Mo quickly returned to his room.
"Nothing missing."
Afterward, Yun Shu left, and Yun Mo stood guard for An Yinan.
Yun Shu returned very quickly and shook her head.
Their belongings were even fewer; even their changes of clothes were only a little bit, and important documents were kept on their persons, impossible to leave at their place of residence.
An Yinan sat on the bed, relaxed, looking at the tightly locked window and the door that had not been damaged.
Either they were old hands, or they were people taking advantage of the chaos to make a profit, or perhaps they were looking for something or someone?
Regardless of which it was, they had to be mentally prepared. An Yinan thought about her journey from Beijing and didn't seem to have discovered anyone following them, not to mention she had Yun Mo and Yun Shu by her side.
So, was taking advantage of the chaos to rob more accurate?
"Alright, it's fine, go back and rest; be vigilant tonight," An Yinan smiled.
Yun Shu looked deeply at An Yinan and asked, "Orders?"
An Yinan nodded, "Orders!"
"Yes." Yun Shu immediately saluted and left.
Out of concern, she wanted to stay with An Yinan.
But An Yinan was her superior now; as a soldier, obeying orders was a sacred duty.
After Yun Mo and Yun Shu left, An Yinan tidied up the room a little, opened the suitcase to look, and finding no clues, she entered her space to continue translating.
When some people are meant to appear, you don't need to wait for them specifically.
And some people who want to court death will naturally come to your door.
That night, a group of people entered through the main gate; the person on night watch turned a blind eye, as if they hadn't seen anything.
Just as they entered the second-floor hallway, Yun Mo and Yun Shu heard footsteps, their bodies tensed and standing behind the door.
An Yinan was not in her space at this moment; she was waiting, waiting for the people who were coming.
The footsteps gradually drew near, and a scream pierced the night sky.
"Who are you? Why are you entering my room?" It was a man's voice.
The surrounding doors opened one after another; there were also some timid people standing by their doors, trembling. But that group actually had over twenty people, holding iron bars or sharp knives, and two people even had guns.
This group was clearly made up of old hands.
"Less nonsense, hand over the valuables, otherwise I'll take your life." The leader was dressed in black, his face covered with a cloth mask, and he held a gun, pointing it straight at the man who had just screamed.
And the people behind him quickly kicked open the various doors in the hallway, displaying a posture of having nothing to fear.
"Who exactly are you people? Is there no law left?" Although the man was afraid, his face pale and cold sweat dripping down, he still asked stubbornly.
The leader went up and kicked him; the man flew backward, the intense pain causing him to curl up like a shrimp, his face flushed red, and one could even see traces of blood at the corner of his mouth.
An Yinan's eyes turned black; this gang was likely not just here for a simple robbery?
Daring to use force!
"All valuables, hand them over, don't make me say it a second time." The leader scanned the circle.
The silence seemed to tell everyone that this was the consequence of resisting.
A few timid people hurriedly took out the money and coupons they had on them.
Those underlings went up one by one to check. A woman clutched her wrist, and the underling sneered, "Don't want your hand anymore?"
The woman finally loosened her hand, and the underling stepped forward and quickly removed the watch from her wrist.
When they searched An Yinan, Yun Shu quietly moved closer, but An Yinan shook her head at her.
An Yinan had specifically left a few small bills and Grain Coupons on her person, but not a single cent of large money.
"This woman is damn poor, how does she dare to stay at a Guest House?" The underling looked at An Yinan's fair wrists and the small bills she had just handed over, saying with a look of disdain.
"She looks valuable, though." As soon as the words fell, he was kicked by the boss, "Hurry up and search."
The underlings were clearly very afraid of their boss and quickly searched again. However, just as they walked up to a woman, the woman was holding a child in her arms; beside the two of them, there was only an old woman. These three were small, old, and the remaining one was just a weak woman.
The woman handed over all the valuables she had on her, but the gang directly snatched the child from her arms.
Having lost the familiar embrace, the child immediately began to cry loudly.
"I have already given you the money, I beg you to let my child go and return them to me." Hearing the crying, the woman hurriedly stepped forward to snatch the child back.
And that old woman stepped forward even more, struggling for them as if her life depended on it.
The lackey gave a tug and threw the old woman away directly.
The old woman's head struck the wall, and she fainted on the spot.
"Yun Niang..." the young woman shouted aloud, tears streaming down her face, yet she was helpless; she still kept her arms spread wide, wanting to snatch the child back.
"Boss, both of these are not bad; look at how fair and clean the child is, they will surely sell for a good price." The lackey did not hide anything now; once they finished this job, they were going to leave this godforsaken place.
That masked boss nodded.
The lackey suddenly remembered An Yinan and was just about to reach out when Yun Shu swatted his hand away, "Watch your hands."
"Yo, this one is a top-tier piece; selling them off should fetch at least five hundred." The lackey was practically drooling.
A strange light flashed in the boss's eyes, and the way he looked at An Yinan was very uncomfortable.
An Yinan calculated the time since Yun Mo had left; it had been fifteen minutes.
