Chapter 173: Pitiful
After seeing the frostbite on Xiaokang and Er Dan today, An Yinan had already made preparations in her heart.
Once she had written down the formula, she went to find Yun Shu.
"Deliver this letter to your chief at the fastest possible speed," An Yinan said solemnly.
"Yes." After carefully putting the letter away, Yun Shu quickly left the Northeast Military Region.
In the letter, An Yinan proposed donating the medical formula for free; this Frostbite Ointment could generate economic profit, but only after the needs of the major military regions and the public were met.
Furthermore, she specifically proposed that the formula must be registered for a patent under her own name.
The state would only have the right to use the formula, not the exclusive rights.
It wasn't that An Yinan was afraid of others, but rather she feared that someone in the middle might want to stir up trouble, ultimately causing her formula to benefit others while the soldiers who needed it most were left without the qualifications to use it.
This was not what she wanted to see, so she did not give the formula directly to the Northeast Military Region, but instead started from her eldest uncle, hoping to deter some petty people.
If water is too clear, there are no fish.
But the water cannot be too murky either, for then there are even fewer fish.
An Yinan wrote this matter out clearly and handed it to her eldest uncle; he would naturally understand her meaning.
After sending the letter, she entered her space and concocted some Frostbite Ointment herself; using the Little Silver Medicine Furnace, the finished product came out golden-yellow with a faint oily texture, felt very moisturizing when applied to the hands, and gave off a herbal fragrance, much better than what she had concocted in her past life.
She refined two batches in total, and when packed into the porcelain bottles she had previously ordered, they actually filled more than twenty bottles.
She kept ten bottles of the Frostbite Ointment aside and packed the other ten separately.
"What are you busy with?" Chen Xun had already finished his afternoon training and brought back food from the canteen.
As soon as he opened the door, he saw his wife's busy figure and couldn't help but ask.
An Yinan looked up, her soft hair slightly obscuring her eyes; she tucked her hair behind her ears and said with a smile, "You're back?"
Chen Xun placed the lunchbox on the stove to keep warm, took off his coat filled with the chill of the outdoors, and came to An Yinan's side wearing only his loungewear.
"Mm, training is finished," Chen Xun replied.
An Yinan nudged him, "I'll show you something good."
As she spoke, she took out a porcelain bottle and opened it in front of Chen Xun, "Guess what this is?"
Chen Xun looked at the golden-yellow ointment, which carried a faint herbal scent, and shook his head helplessly, though he couldn't bear to dampen his wife's enthusiasm, "Clam Oil?"
The only hand and face creams he knew of were Clam Oil and Snow Cream, but both of those were white; he had never seen this golden-yellow kind before.
"Wrong, wrong," An Yinan shook her head.
"This is something newly concocted, called Frostbite Ointment," An Yinan lifted her little face, looking as if she were asking for a reward.
Frostbite Ointment!
Chen Xun looked at his girl, at that proud little posture, the confidence radiating unconsciously, and the inherent self-pride in her bones, "You are amazing."
Words he thought he would never be able to say in this lifetime had slipped out so easily.
It wasn't that he was deliberately trying to praise her; it was simply his true heart.
"Thank you," Chen Xun ruffled An Yinan's soft hair, his face overflowing with a doting smile.
An Yinan thought of her own childish behavior and also smiled embarrassedly.
"This ointment should be very effective; I had Yun Shu send the formula to my eldest uncle's side," An Yinan solemnly placed the ten bottles of Frostbite Ointment into Chen Xun's hands.
"Go help me give them away; the last time I got into a fight with that person, that team saw it but didn't come up to stop it directly—give one bottle to each of them," An Yinan set aside eight bottles.
Then she pointed to the two bottles behind, "These two are for Xiaokang and Er Dan; they helped me carry a lot of packages this morning—look at all these things all over the floor."
Chen Xun looked at the lively girl and raised an eyebrow, "None for me?"
An Yinan looked at him, then pouted and shook her head, "None."
She then added, "What to do? Battalion Commander Chen is so pitiful."
Chen Xun sighed and played along, "Yes, pitiful."
An Yinan stood up and crooked her finger, "Lower your head."
The tall man hurriedly bent down, looking at the young girl with curiosity.
The girl stood on her tiptoes and kissed him on the lips, adding a "MUA~" sound for good measure.
"Still pitiful?" The girl's charming voice and her mischievous expression made Chen Xun's heart flutter.
Chen Xun shook his head, "To die for one's beloved is as sweet as nectar."
"Hmph, go deliver them quickly, and come back to eat when you're done," An Yinan wrinkled her nose and looked at him with a smile.
"Alright, leave these things here, I'll tidy them up when I get back," Chen Xun pointed to the items all over the floor, and only after confirming An Yinan nodded did he put on his military coat, leave the Xiao Yuan, and head to the military district dormitory.
In the military district, there was a large area of dormitories; before An Yinan arrived, he only occasionally returned to the Xiao Yuan to stay, spending most of his time in the dormitory.
Today, his arrival at the dormitory surprised a group of new and veteran soldiers.
"Battalion Commander, why have you returned to the dormitory?"
"Don't tell me you were kicked out by your wife?" the veteran soldier said, and everyone burst into laughter.
Chen Xun couldn't be bothered to deal with these boys and quickly asked, "A few days ago, which team saw my wife being wronged?"
What's this, is he here to settle scores?
The crowd suddenly went quiet, and a Team Leader silently raised his hand.
"It was our team, Battalion Commander, please let us explain..." the Team Leader said nervously; Company Commander Liu had been beaten half to death, and their small frames couldn't withstand the Battalion Commander's temper.
Chen Xun handed over the eight bottles of Frostbite Ointment, "My wife asked me to bring these; one bottle for each of you. Those who have frostbite on their hands or feet, apply it tonight."
The others' gloating expressions stopped immediately, and they looked at the items in the Battalion Commander's hands in disbelief.
The Team Leader took them with trembling hands; there were exactly eight bottles, the exact number of people in the team at the time.
"Thank you, Battalion Commander, thank you, sister-in-law," the Team Leader immediately gave a military salute.
"Alright, trust me, use it today," Chen Xun, fearing these boys would waste his wife's good intentions, specifically gave them a reminder.
"Yes." The Team Leader accepted the order.
Chen Xun went to the new recruits' dormitory again, then found Xiaokang and Er Dan.
"My wife asked me to give this to you, Frostbite Ointment. You must use it today; this is an order." He couldn't be bothered to explain...
"Yes." Xiaokang and Er Dan accepted the order, looking bewildered.
It wasn't until Battalion Commander Chen left that the two of them saw the Frostbite Ointment in their hands, then looked at the blue and purple frostbite on their own hands.
"Sister-in-law is really kind. Next time, I'll help Sister-in-law carry things again." Er Dan was very honest; he was good to whoever was good to him.
The quick-witted Xiaokang nodded, not refuting him, and felt even more moved in his heart.
