Chapter 378: Hua Wensheng Arrives!
At dusk on the third day, An Yinan slowly opened her eyes; the pain all over her body made her frown uncomfortably.
"Big Aunt," An Yinan said softly.
Although she had been unconscious these past few days, she could hear everything the people beside her said.
Big Aunt's worry, Big Aunt's impatience, Big Aunt's complaints—she hadn't missed a single bit of it.
It was as if only by talking more could she make herself wake up faster.
"Nan Nan!" Liu Xicai, who was pouring water, heard the weak voice; she immediately turned her head and saw those expressive eyes.
"You wait, I'll go call the Doctor." Just as she was about to leave, she turned back, still uneasy, "Don't move, Big Aunt will be right back."
An Yinan was wrapped in gauze, bundled up like a rice dumpling; she didn't even know how she could move.
Liu Xicai ran very fast, and the Doctor arrived very quickly as well.
An Yinan even wondered, bundled up like this, how could they examine her?
But the Doctor had plenty of experience, so there was no need for her to worry blindly.
Half an hour later, the news that An Yinan had woken up finally spread out.
And that old Dean finally let out a sigh of relief; the last time he had received so much attention from the big shots was because of testing that Hemostatic Medicine.
"Pay attention to rest, your body is recovering very quickly." The Doctor looked at the chart with some disbelief; the data on it made him doubt reality.
Comparing the data from three days ago to now, it was hard to believe it belonged to the same person.
Liu Xicai hurriedly expressed her thanks and carefully asked about precautions and what could be eaten.
An Yinan listened quietly, watching Big Aunt busy herself for her; she felt moved, but also felt unfilial, always letting her elders worry about her.
"What are you thinking about?" Seeing Nan Nan's expression, she knew this child was overthinking again.
An Yinan wanted to shake her head, only to find she couldn't move at all, "Nothing, it's just that I always make my elders worry."
Liu Xicai smiled, "I've said it so many times, family doesn't stand on ceremony."
She paused after speaking, looked at An Yinan, and said seriously, "You are not in the Military, you don't have to do the things your Big Uncle asks you to do."
"You don't have to obey his orders; you aren't his soldier."
Liu Xicai said earnestly; her own son and daughter had already joined the Military to serve the country—did she have to let all her children get dragged into it?
She knew she shouldn't think this way; she was also someone who accepted patriotism.
But when Nan Nan was lying there, when she knew the child was hurt, she couldn't help but think this way.
People are selfish; Yun Fei could be selfless, but she could not.
"Big Aunt, you seem to have misunderstood Big Uncle," An Yinan said.
She really hadn't received any mission from Big Uncle, let alone had any relationship with the Military Department.
If one had to say there was a relationship with the Military Department, it was just translating documents for the Project Department, which had nothing to do with her own safety.
Liu Xicai shook her head, "Impossible, it definitely has something to do with your Big Uncle."
An Yinan wanted to widen her eyes, but her eyes were swollen.
"Huh? That shouldn't be!"
Regarding the matter of Liu Mingxia, she had gotten involved on her own initiative; it had nothing to do with anyone else.
Too much time had passed, and she had been careless, which led to today's accident.
"Nan Nan, even if your Big Uncle might not have a direct connection to this matter, there must be an indirect one." Liu Xicai had her suspicions.
Yun Fei's guilt that day couldn't have been unrelated to him.
As for what it was?
She couldn't guess.
After all, they had been living together for nearly thirty years; no one understood him better than she did.
An Yinan was a bit confused; could it really be like that?
In the afternoon, a group of people came to the hospital, with Hua Wensheng arriving in a rush first.
"Girl, how are you?" Hua Wensheng even forgot his manners and pushed open the door to the ward directly.
It gave Liu Xicai a start; she didn't understand when the Bureau Chief and Nan Nan had become so familiar.
An Yinan was still wrapped like a rice dumpling and couldn't do anything now; she could only blink her eyes and open her mouth to speak—oh, and she could breathe the air!
"Big Aunt, please step out for a moment; I have something to discuss with Hua Lao," An Yinan said to Liu Xicai.
Although it was very impolite for her as a junior to do this, she couldn't move, so what else could she do?
"Fine, I'll go fetch a thermos of hot water; you two talk first." Liu Xicai left space for the two of them.
Ever since it was confirmed that An Yinan had passed the danger period.
That gentle and good-tempered Liu Xicai had returned; one couldn't see any of the aggressiveness from before.
"Old man, you didn't even bring a gift when visiting a patient?" An Yinan teased.
Hua Wensheng wasn't prepared to answer, but the young man behind him said, "Hua Lao was just in a meeting; when he heard the news about you, he rushed over as soon as the meeting ended."
Looking at the young man explaining earnestly, An Yinan just smiled.
"You go out first, too," Hua Wensheng instructed.
Then he added, "Guard the door."
The young man left immediately.
Hua Wensheng looked at An Yinan, wrapped up like a rice dumpling and covered in injuries; he couldn't imagine her pain and suffering.
"Hey, what kind of expression is that?" If An Yinan weren't unable to move, she would have jumped up right now.
"This matter was handled improperly by me; if I had dealt with the Liu family sooner, or let you deal with the Liu family sooner, perhaps there wouldn't have been so many issues." Hua Wensheng finally said these words in front of An Yinan.
His emotions were still heavy when he heard An Yinan say, "Old man, you aren't blaming yourself, are you? That doesn't sound like you!"
An Yinan teased, trying to help Hua Wensheng relax his mindset.
The old man had no children, and she knew in her heart that he had always treated her as his own granddaughter.
This incident must have frightened him as well.
If he hadn't intervened in this matter, perhaps he wouldn't be blaming himself so much.
"I'm talking to you about something serious!" Hua Wensheng said irritably.
An Yinan was lying there, unable to move or make any facial expressions.
"Then let's talk about something serious!"
"The skills of those four people didn't look like they came from the military, but they were extremely methodical; they always looked familiar to me, as if I had seen them somewhere before, but I can't recall." After An Yinan regained consciousness, she slowly recalled the events of that time, and the more she thought about it, the more familiar it felt.
Yet this sense of familiarity was somewhat strange; her memory had always been quite good, and if she had seen them, she would certainly remember.
Now, she had racked her brain, but still had no results.
"Those four people are still being detained, but Liu Mingxia has been released." When Hua Wensheng spoke, he specifically watched An Yinan's expression; after all, she was the victim in this matter, and he didn't know how angry this girl would be that the mastermind was released without her consent.
However, An Yinan had no expression, and even if she did, others couldn't tell.
"What moves has the Liu family made?" An Yinan asked.
"The Liu family has pulled many strings to try and fish those four people out, and through this incident, we have also dug up many of the domestic forces the Liu family maintains," Hua Wensheng said.
There were several covert lines involving people they hadn't expected; if not for this incident, they would likely have remained hidden for a long time.
"It seems my suffering this injury was worth it," An Yinan thought.
If it had only been tracking and investigating.
The lines on the Liu family's side would probably have been difficult to uncover; if the higher-ups had made a move, those lines would certainly have been severed immediately, making it even harder for them to dig them out again.
Now, however, is a good opportunity.
