Chapter 510: Can Braised Dishes Be Eaten?
"Grandmother, you are so kind," An Yinan said.
Grandmother smoothed her hair and said with a smile, "My Nan Nan is even kinder."
The whole family smiled when they saw them.
Today's meal was prepared by the auntie with a few people helping out; Fang Hong really didn't know how to cook, and Li Xiue had helped the auntie make some, but she had gone to the shop to balance the accounts and arrived a bit late.
"Eat first, and once you're done, hurry back to your room to rest," Yun Fei said.
Ever since he found out Nan Nan was pregnant, he had been anxious and fearful; he hadn't even been this worried when it was Yun Qin.
Especially with the old lady still over there, his heart was not at ease at all.
Now that everyone had returned safely, his heart could finally be put at rest.
"Nan Nan, I've discussed it with Grandmother; I'll go over there to take care of you."
It had already been three days since she returned, and for these past few days, An Yinan was not allowed to go downstairs except to eat; she just slept upstairs like that.
She felt like she was growing fur on her body...
"Big Aunt, there's really no need; there's still the eldest aunt and Aunt Liu over there," An Yinan said, between laughter and tears; she was just pregnant, yet it was as if she had become an endangered species.
Even Big Uncle was smiling at her every single day now; not to mention, that face of his was actually quite frightening when he smiled.
"They will certainly be attentive; they all treat you like their own child, I know."
"But I'm not at ease!" Liu Xicai said with some worry.
Nan Nan's temperament was too strong; if she felt uncomfortable, she would never say it out loud.
It was precisely because she feared this temperament of hers—fearing to cause others trouble—that she wanted to be by her side to watch over her.
"I'm fine, and besides, I'm going to school soon, so there will always be people around me; I won't be staying at the Xiao Yuan for very long, and Grandmother is all by herself at the Dayuan, so I'm not at ease either," An Yinan said.
Grandmother was getting on in years, and the auntie sometimes had other things to attend to and couldn't be by Grandmother's side at all times; if Big Aunt went to take care of her, she would be even more worried.
"Fine, I'll listen to you," Liu Xicai thought of her mother-in-law, and indeed, she wasn't at ease either.
"If anything happens, call home immediately; don't try to tough it out," Liu Xicai still urged her, feeling uneasy.
An Yinan nodded quickly.
Originally, she had planned to take a yellow taxi to school the next day.
But early in the morning, she saw An Erge.
"All packed? Is this all the stuff? I'll carry it for you," Yun Qi took the backpack from An Yinan's hand and put it on his own back.
Although her backpack wasn't that kind of girly pink, it was a light blue, which really didn't match An Erge's Zhongshan Suit at all.
"Why are you here?" An Yinan asked curiously.
"Last night, Uncle called me and said you were going back to school, asking if I had time to come pick you up; if I didn't have time, he would take you to school himself," Yun Qi said with a chuckle.
"How could I dare not to come? Besides, there really aren't any meetings in the department right now, and other things can be pushed back."
Yun Qi looked at his helpless-looking younger sister with amusement; one had to say, even Nan Nan had moments of helplessness.
"You don't need to be like this; I'm not that delicate," An Yinan said to Yun Qi after getting into the car.
Yun Qi sighed, "You girl, you still don't understand."
"It's precisely because you aren't that delicate that the elders want you to be a bit more delicate; you are always so strong, and the elders are afraid you'll run into trouble."
Yun Qi explained.
An Yinan fell silent.
Along the way, the two siblings didn't say much.
An Yinan didn't read any books either; she closed her eyes, leaned against the seat back, and thought about An Erge's words.
But her temperament was just like that.
It wasn't politeness, nor was it being headstrong; everyone had their own personality, and her personality was just like this.
"It's not that you're wrong; it's just that the elders want to cherish you, they are worried about you."
"You don't need to change."
Just as An Yinan was struggling to understand, Yun Qi spoke up.
However, after these two sentences, he didn't say anything else; he knew Nan Nan's personality, and for someone as smart as her, a hint was enough.
"Call your second brother if anything happens," after dropping An Yinan off at the Xiao Yuan, Yun Qi left only this sentence behind as he hurried back to his unit.
He came in a rush, and he left in a rush.
How could he have had nothing to do? He had specifically gone over to pick her up.
An Yinan watched the car leave, and she curled the corners of her lips.
"Nan Nan is back," the eldest aunt saw An Yinan, "You've lost weight."
She finally delivered a conclusion.
She had already learned from the girl Qiu Hua that there were many things Nan Nan couldn't eat and that she would start vomiting as soon as she smelled them, so she definitely wouldn't be able to eat at the cafeteria in the future; she and Aunt Liu had discussed it and would cook good meals for Nan Nan every day and send them to the school gate.
If she didn't eat well, how could she have any nutrition?
"It will be better after this period passes," An Yinan said, supporting the eldest aunt as they entered the courtyard.
Now, the eldest uncle and aunt's braised meat stall was already set up; the prices were reasonable, and the taste was superb.
Many people from remote places came just to taste the braised dishes.
Later, at Nan Nan's suggestion, they also made some braised vegetables; the prices for those vegetables were very cheap, especially now that many vegetables were in season.
A big bowl of braised vegetables was enough for a whole family's meal.
Many neighbors around didn't even stir-fry vegetables anymore; they just came to buy a bowl of braised vegetables—it wasn't expensive, and they could still taste the meat flavor; how convenient.
"Can you eat braised dishes?" After entering the courtyard, the eldest uncle asked nervously.
"I don't know either, but I can try," she really didn't know; she had previously been eating food from the Southern Front, and after returning to Beijing, the food at the Dayuan was on the lighter side, so she hadn't had any reaction to it.
But braised dishes, after all, carried the flavor of meat, so she couldn't say for sure whether she could adapt to it.
"Then let's try it, I'll go dish some up for you." The old man walked out quickly toward the small room of the shop, where the braised meat pot was also kept, and the braised meat was taken directly from the pot.
The old man dished up a bowl of vegetables, a variety of different kinds.
An Yinan tentatively picked up a bite, "Mm, delicious."
Her eyes lit up, and she then took a Steamed Bun, eating it with the braised vegetables until she finished the Steamed Bun.
Feeling her stomach a bit full, she finally stopped.
"I reckon this little one likes eating braised dishes too," An Yinan said with a helpless smile.
The people in the room finally relaxed; as long as she could eat the braised dishes, that was fine, for they had been afraid she wouldn't be able to eat anything, and they wouldn't have known how to cook, but now at least they had a direction.
An Yinan saw how everyone looked, "There's no need to be so nervous, it will be better after a while."
Pregnancy symptoms basically improve by the third month.
Calculating the time now, hmm, still have to endure for over a month...
Thinking about it this way, it's still quite a long time.
