Chapter 169: X-Ray Eyes
In the classroom of Class 7-1.
Like Class 8, they had pushed all desks and chairs against the walls to form a circle, while a row of desks and chairs was spaced out in the center of the room.
Lu Wei sat at the central seat, glanced at the queue behind him, tilted his chin slightly, and raised his hand to signal the next person.
The game in Class 7 was simple and classic: Paper Cup Guess the Ball.
The classmate in charge of the game would prepare three paper cups and one small plastic ball.
In front of the participant, they would place the small plastic ball under one of the paper cups, then invert all three cups and rapidly swap their positions within fifteen seconds.
Finally, the participant had to guess which cup contained the small plastic ball.
If they guessed correctly three times in a row, they passed; if they failed, they had to rejoin the queue.
Five classmates from Class 7 were responsible for the game, and Lu Wei was one of them at this moment.
But because this guy's hand speed was truly too fast, several people before had already failed under his hands, causing those behind to hesitate.
They'd rather wait until the other four tables finished than risk playing at Lu Wei's.
Otherwise, failing meant rejoining the queue—and that would delay their stamp-collecting progress.
According to the Student Union's lottery rules, the first student in each grade to complete their stamp collection would receive ten lottery draws.
The top ten would get eight.
The top fifty would get six.
The top hundred would get four.
The top two hundred would get two.
Beyond that, only one lottery draw remained.
All sixteen classes' games were simple; even counting queue time, each class took at most ten minutes.
With three and a half full hours in the morning, even those helping in their classes had more than enough time left.
But the higher the rank, the more lottery draws one could get, so everyone naturally raced to finish as fast as possible.
"That guy in the middle seems tough," Ying Chanxi whispered as it was her and Li Luo's turn, "Should we wait for another table?"
Li Luo glanced at Lu Wei, radiating that aura of strength, and twitched his lips: "Yeah, whatever."
Unfortunately, they still stood out in the crowd.
Lu Wei spotted Li Luo immediately and called out loudly: "Li Luo! Come on, come on! As monitor of Class 8, you're not scared of a little game like this, are you? You hiding from me?"
Li Luo: "..."
Instantly feeling the gazes of classmates around him, Li Luo's eyelid twitched—he was speechless at Lu Wei's move.
He sighed, leaned close to Ying Chanxi's ear, and whispered: "You go first. When I rest my hand on your right shoulder, it's the right cup; left shoulder means left cup; tap your back means the center one."
"Oh, oh oh..." Ying Chanxi's ear tickled by his breath, blushed slightly under the public attention as he whispered to her.
Thus, under Lu Wei's "enthusiastic invitation," Li Luo and Ying Chanxi walked up to his table.
Ying Chanxi sat down first.
Lu Wei glanced at Ying Chanxi, and his aura instantly dimmed.
After all, she was far prettier than Gao Yuqin, and Lu Wei himself loved mingling in all circles—he knew Ying Chanxi fairly well.
She was the school's top scholar.
Seeing Ying Chanxi, Lu Wei instantly became obedient.
But since Ying Chanxi had come with Li Luo, Lu Wei wouldn't go easy.
He gave a light laugh, his fingers expertly pinching the small plastic ball and placing it under one cup.
The next second, he flipped all three cups onto the table with precision.
Who'd have thought—this guy was big and burly, yet his fingers were incredibly nimble; unlike the other Class 7 classmates beside him, the cups seemed alive in his hands, darting back and forth at lightning speed.
Originally, Ying Chanxi planned to pass using her own skill.
But Lu Wei's hand speed was too fast—in just fifteen seconds, the three cups switched positions at least dozens of times.
Especially since he loved interrupting mid-swap and suddenly shifting to the other side, instantly shattering focus.
One moment's inattention, and the cup hiding the plastic ball vanished from sight.
Once you lost track of the ball's location, the game became pure blind guessing.
"Done." Lu Wei confidently pushed the three cups toward Ying Chanxi and gestured, "Your turn."
Others didn't know, but Lu Wei knew his own skill well.
Back in elementary school, obsessed with magic, he'd specifically asked his parents to enroll him in a magic interest class.
This simple game was still easy for him.
He could even use these cups and balls to perform magic tricks.
But since it was just a game, he wouldn't be too cruel—he relied solely on hand speed to confuse people.
For those unprepared, that alone was enough.
Ying Chanxi now stared at the three cups, genuinely uncertain.
She'd lost track of the center cup once; she felt it was the right one, but maybe not.
Then, when Li Luo gently placed his hand on her left shoulder, Ying Chanxi turned to look at him—he gave a slight nod—and she trusted him, reaching out to lift the left cup.
Sure enough.
The small plastic ball lay quietly inside.
"Holy shit, I didn't even see it!" someone in the queue blurted out, "Was that just a guess?"
Lu Wei was also surprised, but he assumed Ying Chanxi had just guessed randomly.
After all, even a random pick had a one-in-three chance of being right.
But this game required three correct guesses in a row—Lu Wei wasn't worried.
So he once again unleashed his technique, blurring Ying Chanxi's eyes with sheer speed.
But the next two times.
Ying Chanxi felt Li Luo's hands on her right shoulder and back, and effortlessly won the game.
"Thank you." After getting the stamp from a classmate in Class Seven, Ying Chanxi grinned and moved aside, letting Li Luo sit down. "Your turn."
Watching Li Luo sit across from him, Lu Wei had previously been slightly bothered by Ying Chanxi's win, but now he had forgotten it entirely, fixating entirely on Li Luo.
"Go ahead."
Li Luo glanced at him, sensing this guy's inexplicable surge of competitive drive, and felt utterly unimpressed—he just wanted to finish quickly, get the stamp, and leave. "Hurry up."
"Hmph, just wait."
Lu Wei snorted, placed the plastic ball into the paper cup, then began moving with astonishing speed—the cup beneath his hands fluttered like a butterfly, even faster than before.
Already leaving afterimages.
But when he stopped and asked Li Luo to guess the cup, Li Luo casually reached out, flipped open the right cup, and there the ball lay still.
The onlookers gasped—they truly hadn't seen a thing.
This Lu Wei guy was too fast; what should've been a simple little game had turned into an extreme challenge.
Yet Li Luo cracked it effortlessly.
This annoyed Lu Wei.
He placed the plastic ball back into the cup—this time, he had an idea, adding slight extra motions while maintaining his previous speed.
Li Luo still looked distracted, but as Lu Wei finished the switch, Li Luo's Memory Palace surged into frantic recall.
Then Li Luo's lips twitched—he saw in his memory a frame: Lu Wei, with lightning speed, gently nudged the plastic ball from the right cup into another cup slightly tilted upward, unseen and undetected.
This was pure magic technique.
Purely meant to trick Li Luo—otherwise, if any other classmate had played, Lu Wei would never have made it this hard.
Had Li Luo not possessed the Memory Palace, he'd have been fooled.
But now he was confident—he opened the middle cup, and the plastic ball lay quietly inside.
Lu Wei's expression instantly changed.
He glanced at Li Luo, who said nothing, unsure whether the guy had figured it out or not.
Could he really have just guessed?
Lu Wei refused to believe it—he gritted his teeth and seized the cups again.
Li Luo focused intently on the three cups in Lu Wei's hands, his Memory Palace spinning in sync.
Finally, he looked at Lu Wei, who had stopped, and said, "You really want to do this?"
"What do you mean, 'do this'?" Lu Wei's expression was calm, feigning innocence.
Li Luo sighed. "Then I'll guess?"
"Guess."
Seeing Lu Wei still wouldn't give up, Li Luo shook his head in resignation, then suddenly stood up, lunged forward, and grabbed Lu Wei's wrist.
The next instant, a plastic ball slipped from his palm, plopped to the floor, and rolled far away.
Then Li Luo said, "None of the three cups contain a ball."
Lu Wei stared at him, face flushed red and white.
The classmates nearby were puzzled, eyeing Lu Wei with suspicion.
Meanwhile, Ying Chanxi had already reached out curiously and opened all three cups on the table.
Indeed—not a single ball inside!
"That's a bit too much, isn't it?" The classmate behind them stared blankly. "You turned it into a magic trick? Are you kidding?"
"N-No! I never did this before—only just now!"
"Alright, alright." Li Luo stood up, got his stamp from a Class Seven classmate, then waved dismissively. "Let's go. You guys keep playing."
With that, he led Ying Chanxi out of the Class Seven classroom.
"How did you figure it out?"
In the hallway, Ying Chanxi asked Li Luo, curious.
"I have X-ray vision. You believe me?"
"Eww~ disgusting."
"What? Why's that disgusting?" Li Luo was baffled. "Why are you covering your chest?"
"You said you have X-ray vision!"
"If I really did, your hand wouldn't block it," Li Luo said. "Besides, you're not even—"
"Shut up!"
