Chapter 46: Hua Xiuxiu
At 4:30 p. m., Li Luo sat in his seat and took the completed physical examination forms from Hua Xiuxiu.
He flipped through them one by one, spending just over a minute, then returned the forms to Hua Xiuxiu.
"Take these forms to Teacher Kong," Li Luo said. "I'll go with Zhu Yufei to pick up the military training uniforms."
"Alright." Hua Xiuxiu didn't think twice; she followed Li Luo's instruction and took the forms upstairs to find Teacher Kong.
Li Luo then called out to Zhu Yufei: "Gather a few guys—we're going to get the uniforms."
"Got it!" Zhu Yufei replied with a grin, slinging an arm around his desk-mate Zhang Guohuang's neck, then shouted to a few other boys nearby, "Come on, let's go get the uniforms!"
Some boys had just finished their physical exams after waiting over an hour in line and were tired; they sat in their seats pretending not to hear.
At that moment, Yan Zhusheng also stood up and walked beside Li Luo.
Li Luo glanced at her in surprise: "Why are you coming?"
"I'm the PE monitor," Yan Zhusheng blinked, looking slightly confused. "Aren't we supposed to go together?"
Li Luo glanced over at Zhu Yufei's group, then smiled: "Fine, come along then."
Saying that, Li Luo walked over to Zhu Yufei, tapped his shoulder, and spoke slightly louder: "Two PE monitors are leading—follow us. Other guys, come along too."
Instantly, a group of boys stood up in unison, pretending they'd already planned to leave, and rushed out of the classroom first.
Yan Zhusheng paused, seeing most of the boys had risen, and couldn't help asking: "Should I call the girls too?"
"Let the girls rest in the classroom," Li Luo chuckled. He thought: High school boys are so easy to trick.
Of course, even if they didn't want to, if Class Monitor Li Luo really called them, everyone being classmates, they'd still come.
But it wouldn't have been nearly as effective as this.
The group marched down the stairs toward the storage shed on the playground.
Meanwhile, Hua Xiuxiu had reached the fifth-floor office, found Kong Junxiang, and handed him the forms: "Teacher Kong, we've collected all the physical examination forms for our class."
"Good," Kong Junxiang took the forms, then asked, "Have you compiled the height data for our students?"
"Huh?" Hua Xiuxiu froze, confused. "We need to compile height data?"
"Didn't Li Luo tell you?" Kong Junxiang looked puzzled. "Where is he?"
"He took a group to pick up the uniforms."
"Then how come the height data isn't compiled?" Kong Junxiang chuckled. "Otherwise, when you get to the storage shed, you won't know how many of each size to take."
"But he really didn't collect it…" Hua Xiuxiu thought back, then sighed.
Li Luo had merely counted the number of forms—Hua Xiuxiu had never seen him record any height data.
Given how fast he flipped through them, he'd barely glanced at each one.
"So careless?" Kong Junxiang sighed, pulled a blank sheet of paper from his drawer, and handed her a pen. "I'll call out the heights—you record them in groups of ten centimeters, using tally marks."
"O-okay," Hua Xiuxiu hastily took the pen and began writing on the paper.
After a few minutes of compiling, Kong Junxiang stood up: "Let's go—I'll submit the forms and check on Li Luo's progress."
Hua Xiuxiu took the paper with the compiled data and nodded, thinking: This Li Luo really isn't as suited to be class monitor as I am.
As they walked down the stairs, Hua Xiuxiu couldn't help asking: "Teacher Kong."
"Hmm?"
"After military training ends, will we hold elections for other class officers?"
"Yes, why?"
"Then… will positions like class monitor, vice monitor, and PE monitor be re-elected?"
Hearing this, Kong Junxiang turned to look at Hua Xiuxiu.
He expected her to blush and look away, but to his surprise, the girl stared right back at him, showing no trace of guilt or hesitation.
He raised an eyebrow, then smiled: "Of course—they'll all be re-elected."
"Assigning these four of you now is just for the needs of military training."
"After training ends, your classmates will have their own opinions on whether you're suitable for these roles."
Confirmed that re-elections would happen, Hua Xiuxiu's eyes lit up—her determination surged, and she resolved to perform excellently during military training.
Following Kong Junxiang to the eighth-grade classroom on the third floor, Hua Xiuxiu peeked inside and saw Li Luo and the others hadn't returned yet.
Just as she was thinking that, footsteps echoed from the stairwell.
Led by Li Luo, over a dozen boys plus Yan Zhusheng—the only girl—marched back into the classroom.
Each carried several military training uniforms, all placed neatly on the podium.
Seeing Li Luo's group had actually brought back the uniforms, Hua Xiuxiu rushed forward, frowning: "You didn't even collect our class's height data—how did you pick the uniforms? You didn't just grab randomly, did you?"
Li Luo glanced at her in surprise, then noticed Kong Junxiang behind her: "I did collect it—I looked at them."
"You just glanced?!" Hua Xiuxiu stared at him, dumbfounded, and handed him the paper with the compiled height data. "I just compiled this with Teacher Kong—check if the numbers match. If they don't, go swap them right away."
"Don't rush," Li Luo didn't take the paper, but pointed to the uniforms on the podium. "Six people are 150 to 160 cm."
Hua Xiuxiu blinked, looked down at the paper—it was indeed six.
"Eighteen people are 160 to 170 cm."
"Eleven people are 170 to 180 cm."
"Five people are over 180 cm."
"The counts should be right, right?" Li Luo asked with a smile.
"Hmm…" Hua Xiuxiu gripped the paper tightly, momentarily lost. "When did you collect this?"
"Ah… it's not your fault—I didn't explain clearly," Li Luo said, in front of Kong Junxiang, not making her uncomfortable. "I have a good memory. Don't you remember? I remember the data after one look."
"You remember after one glance?!" Hua Xiuxiu's eyes widened slightly, still disbelieving.
She could accept remembering after one glance—but tallying accurate numbers from forty people's heights? That was insane.
Is your brain made of a computer?
"You'll get used to it soon, don't react so dramatically," Li Luo said, then added, "You handle the military training uniforms—have the students come up group by group to collect them."
"Oh..." Hua Xiuxiu instinctively replied, then realized, "... Alright."
Kong Jun saw this and said nothing more, only smiled at the scene before taking his physical examination form to submit it.
Yan Zhusheng followed Li Luo back to their seat, then looked at him with sudden curiosity and asked, "Can you really remember everything at a glance?"
"Of course."
"Oh." Yan Zhusheng nodded, then glanced down at his flat chest, silently frowning, looking slightly displeased.
