Chapter 532: A Kiss in Broad Daylight

~12 min read 2,250 words

August 29, morning.

Xu Youyu was woken by a ringing alarm, frowned, and reached for her phone on the nightstand.

It was only 5:30 a. m.!

Whose alarm is this?

Fortunately, the alarm stopped after a few seconds, so Xu Youyu decided not to bother further, closed her eyes, and went back to sleep.

But after sleeping for who knew how long, the alarm rang again in the dorm.

Xu Youyu checked the time again—it was already 6:00 a. m.

The bed next to hers made noise as someone got up; Xu Youyu squinted and saw Zhao Letian had already risen.

Xie Xiuying, across the room, had also been woken and was now getting up to wash up.

Xu Youyu turned her head and noticed Jiang Feiya had already been up, sitting at her desk doing something.

A small desk lamp was on, she wore a hair tie, and was intently applying makeup in front of a small mirror.

Zhao Letian got up, saw Xu Youyu was awake, and couldn't help complaining: "Xiaoya, you're putting on makeup for military training? Won't it smear?"

"I bought waterproof, sweatproof makeup," Jiang Feiya said, skillfully applying base, "and I brought touch-up supplies—I'll just reapply during breaks."

Xu Youyu admired Jiang Feiya's initiative, then flopped back down to sleep.

She missed the spacious bed at Bihai Lanting.

There, she usually slept until past seven, waited for Li Luo to bring breakfast and feed her, then went back to sleep until noon without issue.

Living in the dorm was just too inconvenient.

But her three roommates were all decent, no troublemakers.

Jiang Feiya was vain and liked keeping fish, but otherwise fine.

Zhao Letian was straightforward, no hidden agendas, spoke her mind plainly, carefree, and easy to get along with—a good person.

Xie Xiuying, coming from the countryside, was shy, a bit insecure, and probably had little living allowance—she needed extra attention.

Ahh… I still want to live at home, occasionally sleep with Li Luo, do those embarrassing things…

Thinking of this, Xu Youyu drifted back into drowsy sleep.

Until someone shook her awake; half-asleep, she opened her eyes as Zhao Letian below reminded her: "We meet at the field at eight. Get ready—we'll grab breakfast together, then head out."

Qianjiang University's campus is huge, and the dorm area is separated from the main campus by Ningshan Avenue—just walking from the dorms to the south gate takes six or seven minutes.

Fortunately, there are two cafeterias inside the dorm area, so no need to rush to the school's main dining hall for breakfast.

Today being the first day of military training, Xu Youyu didn't linger in bed—she quickly got up.

Jiang Feiya was still applying makeup.

After washing up, Xie Xiuying sat at her desk diligently memorizing English vocabulary, then pulled out an old phone, put on headphones, and began listening to English news broadcasts.

Zhao Letian couldn't do makeup and didn't want to study so early—she went to the balcony, stretched her arms, and did simple warm-up exercises to loosen her body.

When Xu Youyu finished washing up and all of them had changed into their military training uniforms, Jiang Feiya had finished her makeup; the four first-year students of Room 213, fully dressed, set off for the cafeteria for breakfast.

Around 7:30 a. m., they finished breakfast, followed the crowd out the dorm area gate, entered the campus through Qianjiang University's south gate, and soon arrived at the East Field.

"Xu Youyu, Class Three is over here."

As the four were about to find their class, someone called out Xu Youyu's name.

Following the voice, they saw a boy waving at them.

"That's our class monitor, right?" Zhao Letian squinted, studied him closely, and confirmed she hadn't mistaken him.

"Mm." Xu Youyu nodded and led her roommates over.

Nearby, Jiang Feiya muttered: "Why did he only call your name? Am I not a person?"

"You're easier to recognize, Youyu," Zhao Letian winked, deliberately crossed her arms and squeezed her chest hard.

Jiang Feiya scowled, glanced at Zhao Letian's flat chest, and sneered: "Stop squeezing—you'll squeeze out what little you've got left."

Zhao Letian snorted, walked behind Jiang Feiya, grinned, and draped an arm over her shoulder, pushing her toward the monitor Lu Mowen: "Go ask the monitor to take a good look—your makeup took over an hour, let him remember you—next time he'll call your name."

"Stop! Stop pushing!"

With Zhao Letian acting as the social glue, the group quickly grew familiar.

Only Xie Xiuying stayed silent, obediently trailing along, playing the quiet observer, speaking only when absolutely necessary.

Lu Mowen, a clean-faced, Bai Xi young man, saw Xu Youyu approaching and handed her a bottle of mineral water.

Xu Youyu glanced at it, didn't take it, and smiled as she pulled out her own water bottle and shook it: "I brought water—class monitor, save this for classmates who didn't bring any."

"Fair enough," Lu Mowen said cheerfully, retrieved the water, his gaze lingered briefly on Xu Youyu, then politely withdrew.

"Class monitor, I didn't bring water," Jiang Feiya suddenly spoke up.

Lu Mowen paused, then looked at Jiang Feiya's face, smiled, and nodded: "Then take this one."

"Thank you, class monitor," Jiang Feiya accepted the water, said no more, and turned her gaze elsewhere.

Soon after, a figure in military training uniform ran over, panting to a stop before Jiang Feiya.

"Xiaoya," Song Yu beamed at her, "I ran halfway across the field just to find you."

"What's up?" Jiang Feiya looked puzzled. "Your college's training is on the West Field, isn't it?"

"I brought you milk tea," Song Yu said proudly, pulling a milk tea from behind his back and handing it to Jiang Feiya.

"Thanks," Jiang Feiya nodded happily, accepted the drink, and as Song Yu turned to leave for the West Field, she called out: "Wait."

"Huh? What is it?" Song Yu turned back to see Jiang Feiya holding out a bottle of mineral water.

"Here, extra water—take it."

Song Yu stared at the bottle, warmth flooded his chest; his hands trembled slightly as he took it, joy swelling in his chest, speechless.

"Alright, alright, training's about to start—go quick, don't be late," Jiang Feiya waved him off.

Song Yu nodded vigorously, clutched the bottle of mineral water tightly to his chest as if holding a priceless treasure, and hurried off the field.

I wonder if that guy will even bother to drink this bottle of water... Xu Youyu, standing beside him, twitched the corner of his eye, watching his roommate's masterful dog-training technique.

If that boy knew how that bottle of water had come to be, I wonder what he'd think inside.

At this moment, Lu Mowen still didn't know that the water he had given away had been reused by Jiang Feiya, this middleman.

Besides gathering the students of Class Three, most of his attention was usually fixed on Xu Youyu.

To be honest, during yesterday's class meeting, Lu Mowen had already noticed this girl.

Xu Youyu was simply too eye-catching.

In the first-year freshman class of the College of Literature, each class had about twenty to thirty students—not many.

Our class had twenty-seven people: five boys and twenty-two girls.

Among these more than twenty girls, Xu Youyu was undoubtedly the most striking.

When Lu Mowen walked into the classroom last night, he noticed Xu Youyu almost at once—her presence was impossible to ignore.

Unfortunately, Xu Youyu seemed indifferent to boys.

Last night, when he went up to run for class monitor, Xu Youyu kept playing on her phone down below.

Today, he deliberately brought extra bottles of water to try to get closer, but she politely refused.

Still, Lu Mowen wasn't in a hurry—after all, there were four years of university; he could take his time.

Of the five boys in our class, the other four were all less good-looking than him—in this regard, his advantage was enormous.

Especially now that he'd been elected class monitor, he could easily find excuses to get closer to Xu Youyu.

Thinking of this, Lu Mowen couldn't help but feel eager.

He felt lucky—among his classmates was such a beautiful girl.

Yesterday, dressed in casual clothes, Xu Youyu had already drawn considerable attention.

Today, after everyone switched to military training uniforms, Xu Youyu didn't fade into the background—in fact, standing among the crowd, she stood out even more.

Her fair, alluring face was far more fresh and natural than the girl beside her, who had meticulously applied makeup.

Yesterday, she'd apparently signed up for the Political Work Group... Girls are weak, and with her figure, physical training must've been extremely inconvenient—wanting to join the Political Work Group to slack off was perfectly normal.

As Lu Mowen weighed these thoughts, he decided he could use this angle to approach Xu Youyu.

Once he made up his mind, his smile grew even brighter.

After the morning military training ended, Xu Youyu was already worn out.

Fortunately, after gathering at eight a. m., they first had a one-hour opening ceremony, and only began formal training around ten.

Even so, Xu Youyu was already exhausted.

At lunchtime, she complained to Li Luo on QQ, relieved she hadn't started writing her novel early—otherwise, she felt she'd truly go mad.

When afternoon training resumed, this weakling of a girl finally felt the agony of military training—her back ached, her waist throbbed, her legs cramped.

Lu Mowen watched closely and realized Xu Youyu truly lacked stamina and physical endurance—he'd already prepared his words of comfort.

Around three in the afternoon, the instructor announced a break, and Lu Mowen immediately rose and hurried toward the nearby convenience store, planning to buy something for Xu Youyu.

But when he returned, he found two large foam boxes already beside Class Three's formation.

Their classmates were happily munching on ice pops, holding milk teas, occasionally glancing toward the distant lawn.

There, Xu Youyu sat on the grass, beside her a boy sitting with her; the two laughed and chatted, looking perfectly matched.

In his hand, Lu Mowen clutched the cold drink he'd just bought. Seeing this scene, his heart sank to the bottom. He quietly walked over to a classmate and whispered, "What's going on?"

"Class monitor?" The classmate, seeing him approach, pointed to the nearby foam boxes. "There's ice pops and milk tea here—everyone in our class gets some."

"Who brought them?" Lu Mowen had a guess, but still asked.

"There." The classmate nodded toward Xu Youyu's direction. "Looks like Xu Youyu's boyfriend—he brought them."

The moment he heard the word "boyfriend," Lu Mowen's expression shattered.

"She has a boyfriend?!"

"I'm not sure," the classmate said, shrugging and pointing at Xu Youyu. "But look at how they're acting—what else could he be?"

Lu Mowen followed his finger and fell silent immediately.

At that moment, Xu Youyu leaned half against Li Luo's shoulder, holding an ice pop, sipping it slowly, her eyes happily half-closed.

Beside her, Li Luo held a milk tea; whenever Xu Youyu wanted a sip, he handed it to her, letting her take a small drink.

Sometimes Li Luo got thirsty himself and took a sip—but Xu Youyu immediately slapped his hand away, glaring and warning: "Don't drink too much!"

"I'll just bring you more when you're done."

"No way! Give it to me, give it to me!" Xu Youyu leaned over to grab the straw; Li Luo playfully pulled it away and held it high.

The two played around; Xu Youyu, utterly worn out, groaned: "I'm about to die from military training, and you're here draining my energy."

"Where's it hurt?"

"Everywhere!"

"Are your legs tired?" Li Luo set down the milk tea, turned Xu Youyu sideways, lifted her legs onto his thighs, and began massaging them.

Xu Youyu luxuriated in it: "Not bad."

"Your classmates are watching."

"Let them watch."

"Who's that boy?" Li Luo subtly gestured toward Lu Mowen's direction.

Xu Youyu glanced over and chuckled softly: "Our class monitor."

"He likes you," Li Luo said.

"What? Jealous?" Xu Youyu grinned. "He tried to give me water this morning."

"Hm?" Li Luo straightened his back.

"But I didn't take it."

"Mm." Li Luo relaxed his body and continued massaging Xu Youyu's legs.

"You look kind of cute when you're jealous," Xu Youyu said, clearly pleased with his reaction. He reached out, pinched Li Luo's cheek, and grinned, "Now everyone has seen it—they won't dare harbor any improper thoughts anymore."

"Not necessarily," Li Luo snorted. "Even in soccer, there's always a goalkeeper."

Not to mention he was guarding three goals at once... Li Luo muttered silently to himself.

"Where did you pick up such nonsense?" Xu Youyu rolled his eyes. Seeing the instructor about to call them to formation, he turned his gaze, cupped Li Luo's face, and gave him a loud mua~ kiss before standing up, patting his rear, and running off to join the others.

In that moment.

The sound of shattered hearts scattered across the ground among the boys who witnessed it.

It wasn't just Lu Mowen—all four other boys in Class Three, and even some boys from the neighboring formation, anyone who had ever seen Xu Youyu's face found it hard not to harbor some feelings.

But when Xu Youyu kissed that boy in broad daylight, countless boys' daydreams shattered instantly.

Standing at the edge of the lawn, Li Luo touched his lips, noticed the gazes cast his way, and his eyes gleamed with delight—he found the taste truly wonderful.

Come back tomorrow.
