Chapter 679: Sister

~13 min read 2,452 words

At six a. m. the next morning, Li Luo woke as usual, washed up, then went downstairs to find Ying Chanxi.

Since today was the opening ceremony, all new students from the Music College had to come to the Ningshan campus, so Yan Zhusheng was still waiting early at the entrance of Qingxi.

Seeing Yan Zhusheng standing gracefully by the roadside, Li Luo walked over and was immediately hugged tightly by her.

"I missed you so much," Yan Zhusheng nuzzled against him, like a little kitten.

"It's only been one day," Li Luo chuckled, patting her head.

"It's been over twenty hours."

"That precise?"

"At around eight or nine yesterday morning, I was still in the car texting you…"

"Stop. Cut it." Li Luo immediately covered her mouth, "Don't say things like that in public from now on. Let's go find Xi Xi."

The two walked together to the Zhulu Pavilion entrance, met up with Ying Chanxi, and began jogging slowly around Qianjiang University's main campus.

"Once military training starts tomorrow, we'll pause our morning runs," Li Luo said as he jogged, "Save your energy for military training."

"Okay," Yan Zhusheng nodded obediently.

"By the way," Ying Chanxi suddenly remembered something and asked Yan Zhusheng, "Where's your military training held?"

"On our own campus," Yan Zhusheng pursed her lips, clearly still resentful about the branch campus.

"What a shame," Ying Chanxi struggled to suppress a smile, "Not even on the same campus."

"We're not even on the same field," Li Luo glanced at her. "The Zhulu College freshmen are training alone on the western field; all others are on the eastern field."

"At least we're on the same campus," Ying Chanxi pouted. "The western and eastern fields aren't that far apart."

"It'd take ten minutes to walk there."

"How long to walk across the river bridge?"

"That's not even comparable."

Listening to Li Luo and Ying Chanxi bicker, Yan Zhusheng ran on the other side, silently sulking.

After finishing one lap, the three went to the school cafeteria for breakfast.

After finding a window seat, Li Luo pulled out his phone and saw that Jian Chun had already posted the class committee list on the group chat that morning.

The names matched what he'd mentioned last night, except one girl who had originally competed for class president but was assigned as publicity officer had refused Jian Chun's arrangement, so she was replaced by another girl; all other committee positions remained unchanged.

Li Luo scrolled through the group member list on QQ, found Liang Yuling, sent a friend request, then privately messaged her.

【Li Luo】: Awake?

Liang Yuling had woken early and immediately accepted Li Luo's friend request.

【Liang Yuling】: Teacher Chongran! I'm awake!

【Li Luo】: Just call me Li Luo on campus… no need to be so formal.

【Liang Yuling】: Got it, got it.

【Li Luo】: Did you see the class group announcement?

【Liang Yuling】: Huh? Let me check.

【Liang Yuling】: Wait, what?! I'm vice president?

【Li Luo】: Yeah, I'm president.

【Li Luo】: If you're free, please create a new group and add the counselor, class assistant, and all other committee members.

【Liang Yuling】: Understood!

Hmm, very energetic.

Li Luo checked the chat history and felt his choice was indeed correct.

For positions like class committee in university, any normal person could handle them.

The key was attitude.

Liang Yuling recognized him at a glance, meaning she'd clearly researched Chongran deeply—probably a fan.

That made her much easier to direct; Li Luo was happy to be a hands-off boss, just giving orders.

He could've chosen the girl who refused the publicity officer role and wanted to run for president as vice president.

But he figured even if she reluctantly accepted, he wouldn't be able to fully control her.

Better to pick someone who'd unquestioningly obey.

"Who are you chatting with?" Ying Chanxi noticed him staring at QQ and grew alert, leaning over to look, "Who's this Liang Yuling?"

"Classmate," Li Luo said simply.

"Why are you messaging her?" Ying Chanxi narrowed her eyes, sternly asking.

"You don't know," Li Luo sighed. "Didn't we have a class meeting yesterday? Guess who our class assistant is?"

"Who?"

"You Yu-jie."

"Huh?" Ying Chanxi froze, then frowned. "What does that have to do with you messaging her? Don't change the subject."

"Then guess who our counselor is?" Li Luo chuckled.

"I don't know," Ying Chanxi huffed. "I said don't change the subject."

"My aunt by marriage."

"Your aunt by marriage?" Ying Chanxi stared, then slowly understood. "You mean… that… that… Jian Senior?"

"Now you should call her Teacher Jian," Li Luo laughed. "She asked me to be class president and gave me the authority to pick committee members. This is the vice president I picked yesterday—I'm just giving her orders now."

"Oh, I see," Ying Chanxi relaxed slightly. "So you're class president again in college?"

"Yeah. Didn't you run for class president?"

"No," Ying Chanxi shook her head. "I plan to join the Zhulu College Student Union later—no point wasting time running for class president."

"Not bad." Li Luo nodded. "What about Zhusheng?"

"Me?" Yan Zhusheng blinked in surprise. "I don't want to be class monitor, and I don't want to join the student union."

"It's university—you should experience more."

"I'll come find you after class," Yan Zhusheng said. "You just show me around."

Ying Chanxi: "… Your campus is so far from here. Coming over right after every class is such a hassle."

"I can learn to drive," Yan Zhusheng said seriously. "It'll be fast by car."

"Your car can't enter the school anyway—you'd have to park outside, and just walking out of campus takes forever," Ying Chanxi countered.

"You don't know?" Yan Zhusheng tilted her head toward Ying Chanxi. "Mom knows the Dean of the Music College. Getting me a pass shouldn't be a problem."

Ying Chanxi: "…"

"You're so stingy," Yan Zhusheng added. "When you're busy with the student union, Li Luo can hang out with me. When you're free, I'll give him back to you."

"I never said you couldn't come," Ying Chanxi insisted. "I'm just analyzing how much time you'd waste coming over every day."

"Besides, you're Li Luo's girlfriend right now."

"If you keep coming over every day to find Li Luo, someone who knows your senior might see you."

"So what?" Yan Zhusheng blinked, then wrapped her arms around Li Luo's arm. "I'm his cousin. Right, cousin?"

Li Luo suppressed a smile.

Ying Chanxi widened her eyes, then immediately grabbed Li Luo's other arm: "Then I'm Li Luo's cousin too!"

"No way," Yan Zhusheng shook her head. "Didn't you promise your senior you'd hand over the role after National Day? If you say you're Li Luo's cousin now, what'll you do then?"

"Th-this…" Ying Chanxi was thoroughly confused. Her mind spun dizzily—how had she ended up the biggest loser here?

…

After breakfast, Ying Chanxi hurried off.

Although she wasn't their class monitor, she had been chosen as the freshman representative for the opening ceremony and needed to give a speech on stage.

So she had to arrive early at the gymnasium for a final rehearsal and to confirm the schedule.

Yan Zhusheng stayed beside Li Luo, waiting until her roommate arrived by campus bus before parting ways with him.

During this time, Liang Yuling, as Li Luo instructed, had added all class officers, class assistants, and the counselor to the small group.

Li Luo glanced and saw she had even voluntarily transferred group ownership to him—he couldn't help but smile faintly, thinking this little fangirl was quite conscientious.

He opened group management and granted administrator status to the counselor and the vice monitor.

Then he renamed the group "Humanities Class One Affairs Committee."

【Jian Chun】: Meet at the East Playground at eight, line up, and follow the school leaders' instructions—just follow the people ahead into the venue.

【Li Luo】: Chi Lingfeng and Wu Xuanyi, please check each dorm room before leaving—make sure everyone's awake and tell them personally about the eight o'clock assembly. Don't rely on group messages. @Chi Lingfeng @Wu Xuanyi

【Li Luo】: Liang Yuling, count attendance. Chi Lingfeng, lead the group inside. @Liang Yuling @Chi Lingfeng

【Chi Lingfeng】: Received.

【Wu Xuanyi】: Received.

【Liang Yuling】: Got it!

Li Luo directed the group chat while leading Yan Zhusheng toward Lin Xiu's milk tea shop.

The first shop to the left after exiting the west gate was Lin Xiu's milk tea shop.

As Li Luo and Yan Zhusheng entered, they saw Lin Xiu lounging lazily in a rocking chair inside, while Jian Chun stood behind him massaging his shoulders.

"Did we come at a bad time?" Li Luo raised an eyebrow and smiled.

"Why are you here?" Lin Xiu stood up from the rocking chair, cleared his throat, and asked. "Isn't today the opening ceremony?"

"It's still early," Li Luo checked the time. "It's only seven-something. I just came to buy some milk tea."

"Still the same old pair, huh? Where are Xixi and Youyu?" Lin Xiu began preparing drinks, and Jian Chun stepped forward to help—she looked nothing like a counselor.

"Youyu's still sleeping in," Li Luo said. "Xixi's already busy." He added, "Don't bother making mine—just give me three regular small milk teas."

"And…" Li Luo turned to Yan Zhusheng. "Ask your roommate what she wants."

"Oh." Yan Zhusheng nodded, pulled out her phone, and messaged her roommates. Soon, they replied: "Jinyan wants grass jelly, Zhaoyin wants red beans, Su Wei says she's dieting and won't drink milk tea."

"Then three more," Li Luo said.

"Got it." Lin Xiu chuckled and started making the drinks, chatting with Li Luo as he worked. "How's university so far?"

"Busy," Li Luo sighed. "I thought I'd enjoy university life, but you two dragged me into doing all the grunt work."

Jian Chun blushed slightly at the term "you two," but didn't correct him—only smiled faintly. "You're doing it well, organizing everything so neatly."

"I wasn't class monitor for three years of high school for nothing," Li Luo chuckled.

A few minutes later, six milk teas were ready. Li Luo handed three to Yan Zhusheng, kept the other three in his hand, then scanned the payment code.

"Hey hey hey! What are you scanning for?" Lin Xiu frowned.

"I'm only paying for three," Li Luo lifted the three milk teas in his hand. "These are for my class officers—I'm treating them."

He pointed to the three in Yan Zhusheng's hands: "These are for Zhusheng and her roommates—you're treating them."

"Tsk." Lin Xiu laughed. "You're accounting very clearly. Fine."

"We're off then," Li Luo waved and left with Yan Zhusheng.

Watching Li Luo's retreating back, Lin Xiu said proudly to Jian Chun: "See? I told you he's capable—he's saved you a lot of trouble."

"True," Jian Chun smiled. "It's just a pity—if all four Humanities classes could have him as class monitor."

"You're being greedy," Lin Xiu said, half-laughing. "How's being a counselor? Are the other teachers in the office easy to get along with? You can come by more often and take some milk tea to give them."

"Don't worry, everyone's nice," Jian Chun hugged his arm and smiled. "I'll stay with you a bit longer, but I'll need to head to the playground soon."

…

The entrance to Qianjiang University's East Playground.

Li Luo brought Yan Zhusheng here and quickly found Yan Zhusheng's roommates who had arrived on the school bus.

Cheng Jinyan spotted the two of them and immediately ran over to greet them, his round face looking extremely cute.

"Here, yours." Yan Zhusheng took a milk tea from the bag and handed it to Cheng Jinyan.

"Thank you, Zhusheng~"

At that moment, two more people walked up from behind.

One girl had elaborate makeup, long brown wavy hair, and wore a cool V-neck strap top with ultra-short hot pants.

The other wore relatively normal jeans and a regular short-sleeved shirt, with no makeup on her face.

Just from their clothing and appearance, Li Luo recognized the first as Su Wei and assumed the second must be Shen Zhaoyin.

"Zhao Yin, here's your milk tea." Yan Zhusheng handed the other milk tea to Shen Zhaoyin, who wore jeans.

Shen Zhaoyin softly thanked her.

Li Luo greeted the group, told Yan Zhusheng he was leaving, and went to find his own class.

Yan Zhusheng followed her roommates toward the gathering point for the Music College freshmen class.

After finding the meeting point for Humanities Class One, Li Luo handed all three milk teas at once to Liang Yuling.

Liang Yuling blinked in surprise, then asked, "Class monitor, what's this for?"

"A reward for you," Li Luo said. "One for you, the other two for Chi Lingfeng and Wu Xuanyi."

"Oh oh, I get it!" Liang Yuling nodded quickly.

"How many people have arrived here?"

"Twenty-two classmates have already shown up," Liang Yuling replied immediately.

"Hmm." Li Luo nodded in understanding and, with nothing else to do, began chatting with her, "By the way, how did you get to know me?"

"I've been following you for a long time, Teacher Chongran!"

"Cough… Call me by my name at school."

"Oh oh." Liang Yuling nodded quickly, then eagerly pulled out a photo and a book from her backpack. "Look look, I even attended your summer book signing! But the collector's edition was too expensive, so I only bought the regular signed version."

Li Luo glanced curiously and confirmed it was true—there was even a group photo.

He recalled the recording of the signing event in his Memory Palace and quickly identified Liang Yuling's figure, then his expression cleared in realization.

No wonder she recognized him the moment he stepped onto the class stage—he'd met her in person before.

"Thanks for your support."

"No no, it's nothing. I absolutely love your songs and your 'Little Joys'—I've watched the drama three times!" Liang Yuling giggled like a devoted fangirl.

Thank goodness… she didn't like his online novels.

Li Luo felt relieved inside.

Otherwise, his idol image would have crumbled in the little fangirl's eyes.

As Liang Yuling chattered beside him, Li Luo nodded occasionally and pulled out his phone to reply to messages from Yan Zhusheng and Ying Chanxi.

Not long after, Xu Youyu appeared behind him.

Seeing Xu Youyu approach, Liang Yuling politely greeted her and stepped aside.

"Someone seems to be enjoying themselves," Xu Youyu murmured with a smile, pressing close to Li Luo's ear, her tone carrying a faint edge of menace.

"Cough… Youyu, don't say things like that."

"Hmph." Xu Youyu pinched his waist flesh quietly, whispering with a hint of threat, "If there's a fourth, next time a mosquito sucks my blood, I'll make you bleed too."
