Chapter 689: Death by Shame: Ying Chanxi, Again
The next morning, after Li Luo woke up, he got out of bed, washed his face and brushed his teeth, then took a basin to the bedside to wash Ying Chanxi's face and brush her teeth.
He went to the kitchen, glanced at the white porridge he had set to cook overnight, confirmed it was done, then fried a few eggs and bacon, packed the porridge, and took it to Ying Chanxi.
While Ying Chanxi ate breakfast, Li Luo made another portion and delivered it to Xu Youyu's room.
Xu Youyu was still fast asleep; after Li Luo woke her, she groaned and wriggled around in bed.
"If you're going to sleep in, eat breakfast first, then go back to sleep."
"Fine, fine… you're so annoying…"
"How can you be worse than Chanxi, who's sick?"
"How can they be the same?" Xu Youyu rolled her eyes at him. "Don't you remember who bore the brunt of the artillery last night?"
"You clearly enjoyed it too, yet you act like I'm bullying you." Li Luo pinched her cheek. "You can't just enjoy yourself without being grateful."
"Enjoyment is enjoyment, but I still suffered plenty." Xu Youyu rubbed her lower back and complained, "I feel like your sessions are getting longer and longer—you're exhausting me."
"People have to improve." Li Luo smiled, then teased with hidden meaning, "Too bad some people show zero signs of improvement."
"Don't give me that sarcastic tone." Xu Youyu chuckled. "If you push me too far, I won't give you anything—see whether you eat bamboo shoots first or Chanxi first."
"No problem." Li Luo set the bowls and chopsticks on the chair, moved to the edge of the bed. "Someone's all talk—actually, she's hungrier than I am."
To be fair.
If Xu Youyu weren't so weak in stamina, always lasting only a short time.
Otherwise, Li Luo thought, Xu Youyu might be the most terrifying succubus.
After all, she had endless tricks, always keeping things fresh and stimulating—it was terrifying.
"Underestimate me, just wait." Xu Youyu huffed, too lazy to argue further, wriggled to the edge of the bed, and began eating breakfast.
"It's Sunday—are you that bored?"
"Not bad. Why?"
"If you're going to sleep in all morning, just get up at noon and bring Chanxi lunch." Li Luo said. "And wash the breakfast dishes."
"Oh, got it." Xu Youyu nodded. "Then go to military training—don't be late."
Li Luo left Xu Youyu's bedroom, returned to the main room, told Ying Chanxi about lunch, changed into his military training uniform, and prepared to leave.
"Wait." Ying Chanxi, still eating, hastily put down her bowl and chopsticks and whispered to Li Luo.
"What's wrong?" Li Luo, just about to leave, turned back and walked to the bedside. "Is there something else?"
"Hmm…" Ying Chanxi hesitated, then reached out, pulled Li Luo closer, and kissed him. "There. Done."
Watching Ying Chanxi grow more proactive, Li Luo felt deeply satisfied. He bent down and kissed her back, kissing her until she gasped for breath before finally letting her go.
"Now am I really leaving?" Li Luo pinched her cheek and whispered.
"Mm." Ying Chanxi blushed and nodded lightly, but still clung to his sleeve, asking softly, "Will you come back tonight?"
"I'll bring you dinner." Li Luo ruffled her hair. "Plus, tonight's department recruitment—no training. I'll stay home with you all night."
"Okay, I'll wait for you." Ying Chanxi's face lit up; she was already eager for nightfall.
"Then I'm off." Li Luo stood up, waved to Ying Chanxi, and left the room.
After saying goodbye to Xu Youyu, Li Luo put on his shoes, went downstairs, drove, and quickly arrived at Qianjiang University to continue military training.
…
At eight in the morning, after an hour of military training following breakfast, the brief break finally arrived.
Li Luo and his three roommates wandered under the shade of trees and plopped down on the soft grass.
Cheng Xin drank some water, then looked at Li Luo and Wen Zexuan, sighing deeply.
"Why are you sighing?" Li Luo asked.
"I'm just thinking how big the gap between people can be." Cheng Xin said enviously. "Last night you didn't come back to the dorm, and Brother Wen didn't either."
"Huh?" Li Luo froze, then turned to look at Wen Zexuan, who gave him a smug smile.
"What? You get to spend the night with our class assistant, but I can't go out and have some fun?" Wen Zexuan chuckled.
"That fast?" Li Luo raised an eyebrow. "It's only been a week."
"A week isn't fast." Wen Zexuan waved his hand. "Normally it takes two or three days—military training just delayed it."
"That's not normal…" Cheng Xin muttered under his breath. "Normal is getting to know each other first—at least a month or two."
"You wait until you're familiar, until there's emotional foundation, before confirming the relationship?"
"It can't be that fast."
"You just don't understand." Wen Zexuan spoke with solemn wisdom. "I'm only here for romance, not marriage—so I only care about short-term pleasure."
"Girls are easy to fool—it's all about knowing the right methods."
"A girl who's truly willing to sleep with you has already decided her feelings the moment she sees you."
"All later communication and interaction just reinforce that initial decision."
"If she doesn't feel it at first glance, no amount of effort to get close will matter."
"If she's kind, she'll just reject you outright."
"If she's cruel, she'll string you along until you're dead."
After hearing Wen Zexuan, Cheng Xin looked at Li Luo again, deeply agreeing with his earlier view: "So yeah, stick to models."
"Not all girls are like that." Li Luo smiled. "It's just that the ones who aren't are harder to find."
"It's not because there are fewer of them—it's simply because you never meet them."
"Like Cheng Xin—he's not bad at all, objectively speaking."
"But with your personality, can you really expect to meet a girl with similar dating views and slowly build feelings?"
"Who's more likely to end up together: two shut-ins, or two people who party every night?"
"In short, you just don't have enough effective social interactions—too few, too infrequent."
Of course, like Li Luo in his past life, encountering three such wonderful girls in one lifetime was far too lucky.
Most people might never meet even one in their entire lives.
"By the way, your sister came by once before—why hasn't she come since?" Cheng Xin, after hearing Li Luo's words, couldn't help but harbor a thought, and couldn't resist asking Bai Haoran.
Bai Haoran: "... Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. My sister isn't interested in men younger than her."
Bai Haoran's sister is a third-year student in the College of Literature, effectively their direct senior.
She wanted to come every day to bring her brother drinks, but Bai Haoran is a moody little brother who never asked her to come in the first place.
After bringing him one meal, he forbade her from coming again.
"Don't always go after people you already know," Wen Zexuan sighed, shaking his head. "Go meet new girls—that's where the real world lies."
"Forget it," Cheng Xin sighed, shaking his head. "I'll focus on my studies."
After a week of college life, Cheng Xin had slowly accepted reality.
People like Li Luo and Wen Zexuan—truly fulfilled individuals—are simply beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Hearing them talk made it sound easy, but only when you try yourself do you realize how hard it is to find a partner.
"Alright, that's all I'll say—whether you grasp it is up to you," Wen Zexuan chuckled, clapping Cheng Xin on the shoulder, then stood up. "I'm off to guard team training. See you at lunch."
Wen Zexuan is tall and well-built, with an outstanding appearance; a few days ago, when the drill instructor selected members for the national flag guard unit, Wen Zexuan was easily chosen.
The instructor had also wanted to recruit Li Luo, but Li Luo declined, saying his political work group was too busy.
With Wen Zexuan's departure, Li Luo also stood up, brushed off his pants, and waved to the two. "I'm leaving too. You two do your best."
After saying that, Li Luo informed the instructor and left the formation, heading toward the administrative building to attend to his political work group duties.
In the morning, he wrote copy; since Xu Youyu was still sleeping in, not present, Li Luo didn't slack off.
After finishing his tasks in ten minutes, he greeted Jian Chun, then drove off to the Music College.
"Your college held recruitment yesterday—what department did you join?"
During a break from choir practice, Li Luo took Yan Zhusheng to a corner of the hallway; they sat on the steps, hugging and chatting idly.
"Jin Yan went to the Arts Department, so I joined with her," Yan Zhusheng said, leaning against Li Luo.
"Good," Li Luo nodded. "Interact with more people regularly. With Jin Yan around, it shouldn't be a problem."
"I'm not a child," Yan Zhusheng blinked at him. "Does it really matter so much if no one's with me?"
"The way you say that—how could it not be a problem?"
"Then I'll change?"
"No," Li Luo shook his head. "You won't change—I like you exactly like this."
"Oh." Yan Zhusheng smiled, lifted her face in his arms, and pecked him on the lips. "Then why don't others like this, but you do?"
"It means I understand you?" Li Luo wrapped his arm around Yan Zhusheng's slender waist, his hand slipping beneath her shirt to caress her soft, smooth skin.
The two lingered in the hallway, affectionate and intimate; the morning passed quickly.
Li Luo took Yan Zhusheng out for dinner, then returned to Ningshan Campus in the afternoon to continue military training.
Around three-thirty, he returned to the political work group to receive Xu Youyu's supervision.
"Where did you go at lunch?"
"To Zhusheng's place."
"Oh?" Xu Youyu chuckled. "So when you told me to prepare lunch for Chanxi, you were really just making an excuse to meet Zhusheng?"
"It's no trouble—I just saved you a trip."
"What about dinner?"
"I'll bring it to her."
"Will you sleep at home tonight?"
"Mm."
"Then..." Xu Youyu leaned close to Li Luo's ear, grinning mischievously. "I got my military uniform today."
"Who was it this morning saying, 'Underestimate me? Just wait'?"
"What? I was half-asleep and woke up annoyed by you—I just blurted it out," Xu Youyu denied it, then smirked. "Scared?"
"I don't know how you can say that," Li Luo chuckled. "Don't always boast, then beg for mercy later—it's embarrassing."
"You're meddling too much," Xu Youyu snorted. "Tonight I'm the drill instructor—you'll see my power!"
"Aren't I supposed to be the drill instructor?"
"This time it's my turn. Next time, you can have it."
"Fine."
"But tonight I'm writing first. Wait until Chanxi falls asleep before you come over."
After evening military training ended, Li Luo and Xu Youyu went together to the school cafeteria for dinner.
Then Li Luo packed another meal and bid Xu Youyu farewell at the entrance.
"I'm heading home."
"Go on, go on," Xu Youyu grinned. "Get back quick—Chanxi's waiting for you in bed."
Hearing this, Li Luo didn't think much of it—just waved goodbye.
Xu Youyu turned toward the recruitment fair; Li Luo drove back to Bihai Lanting to deliver dinner to Ying Chanxi.
As he drove into the gated community, Li Luo spotted a familiar figure and stopped, rolling down his window to call out: "Xinyan!"
"Huh? Li Luo, you're here?" Qiao Xinyan hurried over upon seeing his car. "We came to see Chanxi."
"Oh, I see," Li Luo nodded, glancing at Lin Zhixia and Jiang Lai behind Qiao Xinyan. "Get in—I'll take you there."
"OK," Qiao Xinyan nodded, gesturing for Lin Zhixia and Jiang Lai to get in.
"Is this car yours?" Jiang Lai asked curiously after getting in, watching Li Luo's confident driving.
"Mm." Li Luo replied, then added, "It was given to me by Xi Xi's father."
"Huh?" Not just Jiang Lai, but Lin Zhixia beside her also froze, completely unprepared for this answer.
"Your two families… really are close," Jiang Lai couldn't help remarking. "Does this mean you've known each other since childhood, and your families already accept it?"
"Cough… I guess so." Li Luo said this as he pulled into a parking spot below the building.
Qiao Xinyan, standing nearby, heard this and her expression grew complicated.
As Ying Chanxi's closest friend, she was among the few who understood best the strange dynamic between Li Luo and the others.
But even she found it hard to fathom how Xi Xi had come to accept this arrangement.
"Let's go." Li Luo got out of the car, picked up the prepared meals, and led the three of them upstairs. "Xi Xi will be thrilled if she knows you came to see her."
Saying this, Li Luo took them all in the elevator and soon arrived at door 1502.
"By the way, did you tell her you were coming?" Li Luo asked suddenly after stepping inside.
"We were planning to call her right at the door," Qiao Xinyan said, pointing at Li Luo. "Didn't expect to run into you first."
"I see." Li Luo thought for a moment, then handed the food boxes to Qiao Xinyan. "Then surprise her—I'll go use the restroom first."
"Sure." Qiao Xinyan smiled, took the boxes, and led Lin Zhixia and Jiang Lai toward the bedroom.
But as they opened the door and were about to greet Ying Chanxi inside, they saw her pulling back the covers to reveal a black-and-white maid outfit.
The next second, upon recognizing who had entered, Ying Chanxi let out a startled scream and yanked the blanket back over herself.
"Xinyan! Why are you here?!"
