Chapter 690: Can You Stay With Your Little Maid?
Li Luo, who was in the bathroom, felt slightly surprised upon hearing Ying Chanxi's startled cry from the master bedroom.
He had intended to let Qiao Xinyan and her two roommates bring in the food, as a small surprise for Ying Chanxi.
But Ying Chanxi's voice sounded less like a surprise and more like a fright?
Still, Li Luo didn't dwell on it; he finished using the bathroom slowly, washed his hands, wiped them dry with two tissues, then stepped out of the restroom.
Yet the moment he stepped out and headed toward the master bedroom, he saw Qiao Xinyan and the other two emerge looking awkward.
"Huh? Won't you stay a bit longer?" Li Luo asked, puzzled. "You could chat with Chanxi a while—I've got some small puddings and fruit in the fridge; want me to get you some?"
Lin Zhixia waved her hands rapidly: "No no, I still want to visit the department's recruitment booth tonight, try a few more interviews. As long as we know Chanxi's fine, we're good."
"Yeah." Jiang Lai gave Li Luo a strange look and nodded lightly. "We'll head back now—let Chanxi rest properly; she'll recover faster with more rest."
Qiao Xinyan, catching Jiang Lai's implied meaning, coughed twice: "Anyway, we're leaving now—don't disturb your two-person world."
Seeing their resolve, Li Luo didn't press further; he walked them to the door, still puzzled.
Watching the three hurry away, Li Luo fell into thought. After closing the door, he headed toward his own bedroom.
At his bedroom door, he pushed it open and saw the lunch box he'd given Qiao Xinyan, now quietly placed on the nightstand.
Ying Chanxi, however, was completely buried under the covers, untouched food beside her—no idea what was going on.
"What's wrong?" Li Luo asked, frowning as he walked to the bed. "Qiao Xinyan and the others just left—what did you talk about?"
"N-nothing…" Ying Chanxi mumbled nervously under the covers. "Could you please leave? I'll call you when I finish eating."
Hearing that, Li Luo grew even more suspicious—he wasn't about to walk away.
He stepped to the bed and reached to pull back the covers.
Unexpectedly, Ying Chanxi's grip was surprisingly strong—she held the covers tight, refusing to let him lift them.
Now Li Luo finally realized what was going on.
He chuckled wryly, reached out, pried open her right hand, and yanked the covers away.
The next second, he froze.
Ying Chanxi lay in bed, arms crossed over her chest, face flushed red as she avoided his gaze.
And she was wearing a full maid outfit?!
Li Luo stared, momentarily unable to look away.
The black-and-white maid dress fit her slender waist perfectly, the skirt ending midway down her thighs—elegant yet subtly sensual.
A white lace apron wrapped over the black skirt, with shoulder and waist straps crisscrossing and tightening at the chest, making Ying Chanxi's figure appear unexpectedly full and lifted.
Especially where the white lace covered her chest, a small heart-shaped opening revealed itself, and with each breath, it formed a faint, graceful curve.
Beneath the skirt were plain white silk stockings, unadorned, hugging her legs, yet revealing a sliver of Bai Xi's thigh skin between fabric and hem—utterly alluring.
Under Li Luo's direct, lingering gaze, Ying Chanxi grew even more flustered, covering her face with both hands and refusing to look at him.
Li Luo, realizing the truth, couldn't help asking: "You wore this… did Qiao Xinyan and the others see all of it?"
"D-don't say it!" Ying Chanxi, mortified, cut him off—she couldn't bear to relive that humiliating moment.
She had been filled with joy and anticipation, tinged with shyness, waiting quietly by the door after hearing it open, eager to surprise him.
But when the door swung open, she'd rushed to pull back the covers—only to see Qiao Xinyan and the others standing there!
If it had been just Qiao Xinyan, fine—but Jiang Lai and Lin Zhixia were there too.
Her embarrassing moment had been witnessed by her two new college roommates—Ying Chanxi had wanted to dig a hole and vanish forever.
It was too humiliating!
Li Luo, now understanding, recalled the strange expressions on their faces as they exited the hallway earlier.
He hadn't thought much of it then—but now, recalling it, he couldn't help twitching his lips.
"You wore this in front of them—and now I'm getting blamed too," Li Luo sighed with a laugh. "They'll think we're into wild stuff behind closed doors."
"Shut up! Don't say another word!" Ying Chanxi wriggled helplessly, unable to escape her shame.
With her ankle sprained, she couldn't even flee—she could only endure Li Luo's teasing.
"I haven't finished asking," Li Luo said, seeing how shy she was, and gently pulled the covers back over her. "You were resting peacefully during the day—why bother changing into a maid outfit?"
"I didn't bring it myself…" Ying Chanxi pouted, sounding wounded. "It's all Xuejie's fault—she came to bring me lunch at noon and talked me into it."
Li Luo: "... That's totally her style."
He'd been wondering how Ying Chanxi, injured and bedridden, could have mustered the energy to get up, find the maid outfit in her room, scramble into it, and return to his bed.
But now he knew—it was Xu Youyu who'd persuaded her.
That explained everything.
No wonder Xu Youyu had hinted earlier, after dinner, that Ying Chanxi was waiting in bed for him.
Li Luo truly admired her.
"Still, you're unlucky—this maid outfit seems cursed," Li Luo couldn't help chuckling. "First my mom saw it, now Qiao Xinyan and the others."
"Stop it!" Ying Chanxi pouted. "It's all your fault—you didn't even warn me they were coming!"
"I didn't think you'd wear this!" Li Luo looked innocent. "You're a patient, not a maid—lying in bed's uncomfortable enough, right? You wanna serve me?"
"I didn't!" Ying Chanxi, furious, punched his stomach with her right fist to vent.
"Huh, your military-style punch has improved," Li Luo rubbed his stomach, grinning. "At least a bit stronger than before."
"You talk too much—you're annoying!" Ying Chanxi sat up straight under the covers, now resigned and irritable. "I'm hungry—bring me the food!"
"Alright alright—how do you want to eat? Should I feed you?"
"No need—Xuejie brought the foldable bed table," Ying Chanxi pointed to a table leaning against the wall. "Bring it over, and we can eat on the bed."
"Got it." Li Luo brought the table, placed it before Ying Chanxi, then unfolded the takeout boxes one by one.
Two meat dishes, one vegetable—all her favorites.
"Eat up, little maid," Li Luo teased, gently tapping her snow-white chin, grinning. "You've got your master serving you—you're really lucky."
Ying Chanxi's cheeks flushed slightly, she huffed and punched him again: "What kind of master are you? I'm not your servant at all."
The two played around for a while; Li Luo went to the kitchen, fetched a pair of clean chopsticks, and handed them to Ying Chanxi before returning to his desk.
He began typing; Ying Chanxi began eating.
Occasionally, Li Luo still couldn't help turning his head to glance at Ying Chanxi in her maid outfit.
Though most of her beauty was hidden beneath the blanket, she still had to expose her upper body while eating.
Just glancing at her twice was plenty refreshing and invigorating.
Around six-thirty in the evening, Ying Chanxi finished her dinner slowly; Li Luo stood up to tidy her up, then folded away the table.
Ying Chanxi lay back down, picked up her phone and opened it to take a look.
Seeing that Qiao Xinyan and the others hadn't sent her any messages, Ying Chanxi breathed a slight sigh of relief.
To be honest, even if her sprained ankle healed instantly, she still wouldn't dare return to military training.
Just imagining her three roommates seeing her in the maid outfit made her cheeks burn fiercely.
Better to stay home quietly, wait until military training ended and everyone gradually forgot about this, then return to school.
As she thought about this, Ying Chanxi idly opened Tencent Video and started watching "Little Joy" again.
This was probably her third time watching it.
She'd watched it once when it first aired during summer break; when Li Luo had burst into a writing spree over the admission letter incident, she'd rewatched it out of boredom.
After accidentally twisting her foot yesterday, she'd opened "Little Joy" again and started watching anew.
To be fair, she no longer watched "Little Joy" purely for the plot—she now enjoyed reading the comments and bullet screens.
She especially loved browsing the freshly posted comments.
When she saw someone criticizing, she'd grit her teeth and type furiously to rebut.
When she saw someone praising, she'd happily give them a like.
As she scrolled through the video, Li Luo slipped into his normal typing rhythm.
Aside from occasionally standing up to pour her water or bring in some fruit, he devoted all his time to typing and quickly finished ten thousand characters.
At ten o'clock, the two heard Xu Youyu's key turning in the door.
"Youyu's back," Li Luo said.
"Mm, I heard," Ying Chanxi nodded lightly, then, as if remembering something, quickly whispered, "If senior asks anything, don't say a word—I'll handle it."
Li Luo didn't understand what she meant.
But soon, someone knocked on the door.
Ying Chanxi called out; Xu Youyu peeked inside with a curious expression, glancing twice.
Seeing Ying Chanxi still wearing the maid outfit, she immediately wore a smug, knowing smile.
"Hehe, how's it going, Xixi?"
"I-I'm just fine," Ying Chanxi blushed. "Senior, aren't you supposed to be writing? Don't bother with me."
"So my suggestion must've been pretty good, then?" Xu Youyu nodded happily, asked no more, and chuckled as she backed out. "I won't disturb you—I'm off to write. Bye~"
Watching Xu Youyu leave, Ying Chanxi finally relaxed.
If Xu Youyu found out about her embarrassment again, Ying Chanxi would truly dig a hole and bury herself.
"It's just that Qiao Xinyan and the others saw you—what's so hard to admit?" Li Luo said, barely holding back his laughter.
"It's all your fault," Ying Chanxi shot him an irritated glare. "And you're not telling anyone!"
"Alright, alright, I won't."
Li Luo raised both hands in surrender.
"Have you finished typing?" Ying Chanxi glanced at Li Luo's computer screen and suddenly asked.
"Hmm… I could write a bit more," Li Luo said. "What do you need?"
"Umm… can you keep me company?" Ying Chanxi turned her head away, too shy to look at him. "Stop typing for now."
"I can," Li Luo grinned, stood up, walked to the bed, turned her head to face him, gently lifted her chin, and leaned down to smile. "But if a little maid wants company, what should she say?"
"You…" Ying Chanxi puffed her cheeks, her face reddening. "Fine, if you don't want to stay, whatever!"
"You're not being good," Li Luo sighed, withdrawing his hand. "Then I'll go back to typing."
"Hey! Wait!" Ying Chanxi panicked as he truly turned away, quickly grabbed his arm and pulled it back. "I-I'll say it!"
"What are you going to say?" Li Luo smirked. "Let me hear."
"Umm…" Ying Chanxi fidgeted, her cheeks flushed crimson, whispering softly, "Please… please keep me company…"
"Wrong," Li Luo leaned close to her ear and whispered gently. "Look at what you're wearing. What's your status? Who am I? How should you address me?"
Hearing this, Ying Chanxi's face turned bright red; she clenched her tiny fists against her chest, bit her teeth in annoyance: "You're being too much!"
"Where's it too much?" Li Luo pinched her snow-white chin. "You've said it before—do I need to teach you again?"
"Umm…"
Pinched by her chin, Ying Chanxi was forced to lift her face, yet dared not meet his gaze—her eyes darted left and right, like a fallen noblewoman, now forced into servitude under Li Luo.
Alas, the fallen noblewoman ultimately yielded to reality, swallowing her shame, transforming into a dutiful little maid, and softly parted her lips to say:
"M-m-master~"
"Can you keep me company?"
