Chapter 820: They

~6 min read 1,117 words

Around four in the afternoon, Xu Youyu received a call, then turned to Li Luo and said, "My parents are arriving—can their car get in?"

"Let them drive right in; Butler Liu already told the gate guard," Li Luo replied, standing up. "I'll come down with you to meet your mom and dad."

"Oh." Xu Youyu immediately nodded, then waved to Yan Zhusheng. "Zhusheng, come help me for a bit."

Saying this, Xu Youyu stood up and followed Li Luo out of the entertainment room, taking the elevator swiftly down to B1.

At this moment, Xu Rongsheng had already driven into the underground parking lot of Sky Ridge Elegant Residence.

Cui Suling, in the passenger seat, gazed at the spacious parking spots and the lavishly decorated entrance doors lining B1, unable to help exclaiming, "I never thought—never thought we'd ever have a day like this."

"What's wrong with it?" Xu Rongsheng glanced at her. "Disappointed our home's too small?"

"Don't say that," Cui Suling rolled her eyes. "I'm just happy for our daughter—she found a great boyfriend; her future's set."

"You have to remember," Xu Rongsheng said seriously, "Youyu has her own ability—she can live well writing novels. Her feelings for Li Luo are mutual, which is good, but she's not climbing on him. Don't say anything foolish later."

"Alright, alright," Cui Suling waved her hand. "You talk too much. Why not think about how to tell Li Luo to keep some distance from Zhusheng and Chanxi?"

"Didn't I say this before?" Xu Rongsheng sighed. "They're still in college, all of them young—let things unfold naturally."

"That was then, this is now," Cui Suling clicked her tongue. "Your daughter's already been completely taken—what's wrong with a little advice?"

At these words, Xu Rongsheng's face showed a flicker of surprise. He turned and asked, "When did you find out?"

"Huh?" Cui Suling, taken aback by his reaction, also looked startled. "You knew too? I thought you didn't."

Xu Rongsheng: "..."

"I found out during summer vacation," Cui Suling whispered. "Remember that road trip we took together in the Motorhome? Before that, they'd already... done it. What about you? When did you find out?"

"Summer vacation..." Xu Rongsheng fell silent again, then sighed. "I only found out recently—I saw Li Luo's car and went up to say hello."

"I noticed Youyu's face was unusually red."

"She claimed it was from running at night, showed me her morning jogging log—but over twenty minutes had passed since she finished running."

"Then I figured it out."

"In the car?!" Cui Suling gasped, her face flushing. She spat playfully. "Those kids—how could they be so... daring?"

"You haven't answered yet," Xu Rongsheng clearly didn't want to dwell on this, changing the subject. "You knew during summer—why didn't you tell me?"

"I saw they took proper precautions, and it already happened—so what?" Cui Suling said. "I've always liked Li Luo. Besides, you didn't tell me either after you found out."

"That's different," Xu Rongsheng said helplessly. "I didn't have solid proof—maybe they were just a young couple being affectionate in the car?"

"Hmph," Cui Suling smirked. "We both know now, so let it be. I didn't tell you because I was afraid you'd feel heartbroken as a dad."

"What kind of talk is that?" Xu Rongsheng shook his head. "Romance between young people is natural. No matter who Youyu dates, she'll reach this point eventually."

"Now that it's Li Luo, and we both think highly of him, it's clearly the best arrangement."

"He's accomplished, has a good character, his parents are wonderful people, and they get along well with us."

"Even though they're in different grades, Youyu's only half a year older than Li Luo."

"Two people of similar age, with shared interests—it's perfect."

From her tone, Cui Suling could tell Xu Rongsheng truly approved of Li Luo.

She herself approved too—but their approval came from completely different angles.

Cui Suling viewed marriage pragmatically: Li Luo was young, talented, and could earn money—he was perfect as a son-in-law.

Xu Rongsheng, however, saw it differently: he knew his daughter could support herself, so he valued emotional resonance between her and her partner.

"When Old Ying and Wanqing are here later, watch what you say," Xu Rongsheng said as he pulled into a parking spot at the B1 entrance of Villa A08, turning to Cui Suling.

"I know," Cui Suling sighed. "Do you think they also hope their daughter ends up with Li Luo? Chanxi and Zhusheng both seem to like him a lot."

"Don't meddle," Xu Rongsheng shook his head helplessly. "Can we split Li Luo into three?"

"I'm just worried," Cui Suling snapped. "This move isn't just Li Luo and Youyu coming over—Chanxi and Zhusheng moved too."

"What exactly is Li Luo aiming for? Does he want all three girls?"

"Can't you think for yourself? All you say is 'let things unfold naturally'—I think you don't care about Youyu at all."

"Enough, enough," Xu Rongsheng rubbed his temples, exasperated. "What can you do now? Your daughter isn't stupid—if anything's happening, she'll handle it."

"She's a lazy fish—what can she handle..." Cui Suling muttered under her breath.

"Youyu only looks lazy—you really underestimate her?" Xu Rongsheng glanced at his wife. "Her values were shaped by me, but in some ways, she's just like you—in this regard, she's very proactive."

"Otherwise, how did she land Li Luo right after his high school graduation?"

"Just like you were in college."

"What are you saying?" Cui Suling glared. "What do you mean 'just like you'?"

"Ahem..." Xu Rongsheng cleared his throat. "I meant you both are proactive and brave in love—commendable."

"Hmph... I can tell you're secretly pleased," Cui Suling sneered, crossing her arms and huffing.

At this moment, Li Luo and Xu Youyu, who had been waiting at the B1 entrance, noticed they weren't getting out of the car and walked over.

Xu Rongsheng unfastened his seatbelt, opened the door, and said to Cui Suling, "Just watch what you say—let's get out."

They stepped out of the car and met Li Luo and Xu Youyu.

Li Luo greeted them politely; Xu Youyu beamed and linked arms with Cui Suling.

"Come on, come on—I'll show you around," Xu Youyu said eagerly.

"Where are the others?" Xu Rongsheng asked.

"They're on the fourth floor," Li Luo replied as they walked. "Playing mahjong. You can join later, Aunt Cui—dinner's at six, still early."

"Your mom and the others are there too?" Cui Suling smiled. "I haven't played in days—I'm itching to."

As they spoke, the four of them entered the house.

Under Xu Youyu's guidance, Xu Rongsheng and Cui Suling toured the B1 gym, bar counter, and billiards entertainment area.
