Chapter 189: Jealousy Makes Me Ugly (Second update, please subscribe)

While lunging at the opponent, Aixi opened its large mouth, Gold Element energy clinging to its sword-like fangs, making them even sharper, and instantly bit down on the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's waist.

Wah—

The Three-Tailed Snow Fox struggled, letting out a painful shriek; two fist-sized puncture wounds appeared on its waist, and fresh blood gushed out, staining the ground crimson in the blink of an eye.

Aixi did not hold on; it released the Three-Tailed Snow Fox immediately after biting. If it hadn't deliberately avoided the vital points, it might have crushed the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's neck or pierced its skull, potentially killing the Three-Tailed Snow Fox on the spot.

This was still a sparring match, and it was stipulated that one could not kill the opponent's Demon Pet, otherwise, one would surely face severe punishment; this was mainly to avoid fratricide.

Yuanling Academy has already declined; if the students were to kill each other and exclude those with different views, how could they maintain the reputation of the Four Great Academies?

Besides, Vice Principal Xu and the four Fifth-rank Instructors were all present; with their strength and discernment, they were capable of stopping Aixi before it could kill the Three-Tailed Snow Fox.

And don't forget the existence of the referees; to be a referee, one must be at least Third Rank or above. Apart from maintaining the match, they also have the duty to protect the safety of the Demon Pets on the field.

A look of determination and pain appeared in the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's eyes; even with Aixi glaring at it from right in front, it still struggled desperately, wanting to stand up again.

Like its master, it possessed a tenacious quality.

"Enough, we have already lost; we can just win it back next time!" Zhao Shuyi immediately jumped off the stone pedestal, suppressing the negative emotions in her heart, and ignoring the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's dripping blood, she pulled it into her arms and hurriedly applied medicine to the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's wounds.

The Three-Tailed Snow Fox stopped struggling and let its master apply the medicine, but its chest kept twitching; like a child, it felt very self-reproachful, and tears kept falling from its eyes.

"The Three-Tailed Snow Fox has lost its combat capability. Given that all three of contestant Zhao Shuyi's Demon Pets have been defeated, contestant Li Zhangsheng is the winner of this match!"

Seeing this situation, the referee announced the match result indifferently.

After an intense battle, Li Zhangsheng finally succeeded in defeating Zhao Shuyi, taking the crown of Elite Class Monitor.

"Well done, Aixi!" Li Zhangsheng jumped off the stone pedestal and rubbed Aixi's head vigorously.

Roar—

After the battle ended, Aixi let out an excited roar.

"Why is it still bleeding!"

At this moment, Zhao Shuyi's panicked voice rang out. Her medicine actually had quite good efficacy, but it could not immediately stop the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's puncture wounds; at most, it could only slow the bleeding. Yet, the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's mood was very low, which greatly exacerbated the effect of the medicine, causing it to continue bleeding incessantly.

The Three-Tailed Snow Fox had already suffered heavy injuries; if the optimal treatment time were missed, it would likely be weak for a period of time. But what Zhao Shuyi feared most was the appearance of sequelae; she had to treat the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's wounds as soon as possible.

"Sunlight Meow, Healing Prayer!" Unexpectedly to everyone, Li Zhangsheng pointed at the Three-Tailed Snow Fox and signaled to the Sunlight Meow in his arms.

Meow—

The Sunlight Meow looked at its master in confusion; with its simple mind, it naturally could not understand its master's complex thoughts. However, it still immediately obeyed the order, its whole body shining brightly, and flickering symbols surrounded the Three-Tailed Snow Fox, finally merging into its body and disappearing.

With the help of Healing Prayer, the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's puncture wounds were wrapped in a layer of transparent light film, and at the same time, with the help of Light-type energy, its wounds were slowly healing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

However, having lost so much blood, the Three-Tailed Snow Fox was still very weak.

"This is Life Water; it has excellent healing effects for recovering from injuries and can also help your Three-Tailed Snow Fox get through the weakness period faster. Take it; this way, its wounds can recover as soon as possible!"

Li Zhangsheng felt a pang of heartache as he took out a small bottle of Life Water, though he maintained a calm and indifferent appearance on the surface as he handed it to Zhao Shuyi.

Li Zhangsheng was not having a sudden fit of kindness; he did this mainly to win people over. Didn't he see the admiring expressions of the onlookers among the freshmen? Didn't he see the gratified looks of Vice Principal Xu and the four Instructors?

This was also a way to improve his reputation, commonly known as "cultivating prestige." Besides, he was about to become the Elite Class Monitor; if he could win the hearts of the Elite Class Members, he could save himself a lot of trouble.

In the end, the two sides were not mortal enemies; they could only be considered competitors, and they were still classmates. It was best to ease things over; not only could it avoid breeding hatred, but he could also take the opportunity to show his demeanor, returning evil with kindness, and improve his reputation in Yuanling Academy.

With so many hidden benefits, how could Li Zhangsheng not seize the opportunity?

"Sigh, I'm afraid there is no one better than me in this world!" While handing over the Life Water, Li Zhangsheng couldn't help but boast to himself.

Zhao Shuyi raised her head, her sparkling eyes full of surprise, confusion, and hesitation. Her heart was also quite conflicted; should she accept it or not?

But once she thought about how the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's wound healing had been aided by the Sunlight Meow, what did it matter if she owed a little more of a favor? Besides, she also hoped to let the Three-Tailed Snow Fox get through the weakness period as soon as possible.

"Thank you!" Zhao Shuyi's expression softened significantly. Looking at Li Zhangsheng's warm face, her heart, which had been as hard as iron, seemed to have a tendency to melt. She was startled by her own thoughts and hurriedly stopped them. A bit more gratitude grew in her heart, and she thanked him in a voice so low it was almost inaudible.

The young girl still couldn't let go of her pride.

After drinking the Life Water, the Three-Tailed Snow Fox's complexion improved significantly. The Life Water contained sparse Life Force, and its healing efficacy naturally far exceeded the medicine on the market.

Watching Li Zhangsheng's departing back, Zhao Shuyi's heart was undoubtedly complex; this was completely different from what she had expected!

Before the duel, Zhao Shuyi was full of confidence, only to be forcefully defeated by Li Zhangsheng.

The more anticipation before the battle, the more disappointment after the battle!

Yet Li Zhangsheng's actions left her with nothing to say.

"Learned another trick!" In the spectator stands, Zhang Yi sighed in his heart. The reason he had cast an abstention vote in the end was mainly because Li Zhangsheng was too outstanding, which inevitably aroused his jealousy.

But thinking about it afterward, Zhang Yi felt ridiculous about his previous actions.

Jealousy makes me ugly, jealousy makes me lose my reason, jealousy makes me undergo cytokinesis!

In the spectator stands, almost everyone spontaneously applauded, not only because Li Zhangsheng had won, but also because they felt heartfelt admiration for Li Zhangsheng's actions.

Calm, intelligent, kind, decisive, powerful!

Possessing these qualities, Li Zhangsheng was simply the best candidate for class monitor.

It could be said that this battle refreshed many people's impression of Li Zhangsheng and established his status as the number one freshman.
