Chapter 228: Difficult-level Task (First update, seeking subscriptions)

Once Li Zhangsheng and the others had left, the cold-looking youth in the lead couldn't help but ask, "Instructor, they must also be freshmen this year. Being able to form a team to carry out tasks at this stage shows that they are Elite Class Members of this year's Yuanling Academy!"

"Hmm! Zhao Wencan, what are your thoughts?"

Zhao Wencan lifted his chin slightly and said with a hint of disdain, "Yuanling Academy has truly declined. Out of the five, only two have reached the Second Rank level, unlike us, where everyone has reached the Second Rank. I wonder how my half-sister is doing over there?"

When mentioning his sister, Zhao Wencan made no effort to hide the disgust in his eyes; there was not a shred of so-called familial affection to speak of.

"Your sister is named Zhao Shuyi, right? She is indeed a good seedling, possessing a Top-tier Spirit Three-Tailed Snow Fox. It is a pity she went to the increasingly declining Yuanling Academy; otherwise, if she were at our Royal Academy, she would certainly be able to grow to a higher level in the future!"

Instructor Sun wore an expression of looking down on Yuanling Academy. The Royal Academy had held the title of the number one academy for years, and regardless of whether they were instructors or students, their gaze toward other academies was always filled with a sense of superiority.

This was also a very normal state of affairs. For over two hundred years, the Royal Academy had almost no rivals to speak of; only the Yuanling Academy in its peak period could barely make them take a second look.

While they were discussing, Li Zhangsheng and the others were also talking about them.

"Captain, how is their strength?" The one speaking was Wang Ding; due to his strength limitations, he could not sense the level of Zhao Wencan and the others.

"They are all at the Second Rank level, and the one in the lead seems to be nearing the Third Rank!"

Wang Ding sighed, "So strong. By the way, are they senior students of the Royal Academy?"

"They are just like you, all freshmen who have just enrolled!"

The one speaking was Instructor Qian Yuanfei, who gave Wang Ding a critical blow.

Wang Ding swallowed a mouthful of saliva and said with difficulty, "The gap seems a bit large!"

"It's not just 'a bit' large! Judging from the intelligence, the Newborn Elite Class of the Royal Academy has all reached the Second Rank level. By the time the Academy Exchange Tournament begins, it is very likely that Third-Rank Students will appear!"

Instructor Qian Yuanfei dealt another critical blow.

All at the Second Rank!

Although not everyone could participate in the Exchange Tournament, the fact that all the freshmen of the Royal Academy had reached the Second Rank was more than one tier stronger than Yuanling Academy.

For them, everyone was at the Second Rank, while the proportion of Second Rank students in the Newborn Elite Class of Yuanling Academy was at most only fifty percent.

Furthermore, among the freshmen of the Royal Academy who failed to make the Elite Class, there were certainly those at the Second Rank, and the number might not be small.

"As expected of the number one academy!" What else could Wang Ding say? He could only sigh.

"In the future, don't say things that boost others' morale and dampen your own!"

Li Zhangsheng offered a reminder; he could see that Instructor Qian Yuanfei's expression was not looking good.

"Instructor, while it's still early, let's take on another task!"

Li Zhangsheng glanced at the sky and felt they could take on one more task, but he did not forget Chen Yunsheng, saying, "Yunsheng, the most important thing for you right now is to recuperate well. Once you have recovered, we will go on tasks together again!"

He could not stop the progress of the entire team because of Chen Yunsheng alone. If they wasted two days, by the time a week passed, their team would likely be at the bottom. Not only would they earn fewer Academic Credits, but the extra reward for first place would also fall into someone else's hands; this was not in their interest.

"Alright! Everyone must work hard; I am looking forward to winning while lying down!"

Chen Yunsheng did not show much dejection, at least not on the surface.

"What type of task should we take this time?"

"Clear out Demonized Fairies!" Li Zhangsheng held the task list and quickly made a decision.

Although among tasks of the same level, the reward for clearing out Demonized Fairies was not as high as killing wanted criminals, it had the advantage of being relatively safe.

Moreover, in Li Zhangsheng's view, clearing out Demonized Fairies was more in line with his interests, because during the clearing process, he could always encounter High Quality Fairy.

A High Quality Fairy, no matter how poor, was worth double-digit Soul Crystals, and excellent ones could even reach hundreds of Soul Crystals. If he encountered a Superior Quality Fairy, it would be at least five hundred Soul Crystals as a base!

These were all resources. Ever since buying the Starry Sky Auction House, Li Zhangsheng had been short on funds, so he naturally hoped to fill his pockets as soon as possible.

If he accidentally encountered a Top-tier Spirit, Li Zhangsheng would even use up the contract slot he had just cleared.

"We will still take the Ordinary difficulty task of clearing out Demonized Fairies; I assume everyone won't object!" After seeing his teammates agree, Li Zhangsheng pointed to a task and said, "Then let's take this one!"

"Alright, here is your task information!" Instructor Qian Yuanfei shrugged and handed over the task information.

Task: Clear out the Demonized Fairies of Heiyun Mountain!

Objective: Slay one Upper Rank Demonized Fairy, ten Intermediate Level Demonized Fairies, and one hundred Inferior Level Demonized Fairies!

Note: There are no Elite level or above Demonized Fairies in Heiyun Mountain and the surrounding area!

Reward: 50 Academic Credits!

Except for the location, this task was exactly the same as their first task, even the rewarded Academic Credits were the same.

Heiyun Mountain was located near Black Wind Mountain. Due to its proximity to the Abyss Gate and the influence of the Demonic Qi leaking from it, most of the wild Spirit Beast within a hundred-mile radius had been demonized, and the closer to the Abyss Gate, the greater the probability of demonization.

Two days later, near Heiyun Mountain!

Awoo~

Accompanied by the mournful cries of the Demonized Fairy, Aixi shook its head vigorously, and the Upper Rank Demonized Fairy bitten in its mouth flew up and slammed heavily onto the ground.

The Upper Rank Demonized Fairy struggled a few times, its head tilted to the side, and it breathed its last.

"The sixth task is complete!" Li Zhangsheng muttered to himself. In just four days, their squad had completed six Ordinary level tasks.

"Congratulations on completing the task, a total reward of 50 Academic Credits! Among them, Li Zhangsheng gets 25 Academic Credits, Yuan Yongyan 10, Li Tianyu 9, and Wang Ding 6!"

Last night, Li Tianyu successfully advanced, becoming the third Second Rank student in the team.

Instructor Qian Yuanfei paused and continued, "According to your current progress, it might be difficult to get the extra reward, because the Zhao Shuyi squad completed six Ordinary level tasks ahead of you!"

The Zhao Shuyi squad was the only six-person squad, which already gave them a numerical advantage. Moreover, they had been sailing smoothly along the way without any combat-related attrition, so their progress was naturally fast.

Li Zhangsheng did not express surprise and suggested to everyone, "Yunsheng must have recovered by now, and our strength is also rising steadily. Having cultivated a certain level of tacit understanding, it is time to consider taking on a Difficult-level Task!"
