Chapter 229: Wealth is Sought Amidst Danger (Second Update, Seeking Subscriptions)

Upon hearing that they were to take on a Difficult-level Task, everyone's heart tightened; they thought of the encounter Xu Xiangzhi's team had, as it was precisely because they had accepted a Difficult-level Task that they suffered two casualties, and if not for the intervention of Instructor Lu Qian, they would have faced the crisis of total annihilation.

In their view, a Difficult-level Task involved taking a huge risk.

Wang Ding swallowed nervously, "Captain, are we really going to accept a Difficult-level Task?"

Through these past few days of getting along, Li Zhangsheng had gained a rough understanding of Wang Ding's personality: cautious and timid.

"Hmm, how about this, let's go find Chen Yunsheng first, and once we gather everyone's opinions, we will discuss whether to accept the Difficult-level Task!"

"That's all we can do!"

It took about half an hour for the group to meet Chen Yunsheng.

After two days of recuperation, Chen Yunsheng's condition had clearly improved a lot; his mental shock had recovered, and apart from his complexion appearing slightly pale, he had returned to health.

Without needing Li Zhangsheng to explain, Wang Ding was the first to tell Chen Yunsheng the news that the captain wanted to accept a Difficult-level Task.

"Wealth is sought amidst danger; besides, our strength is not weak. As long as we complete the Difficult-level Task, I believe our team will receive extra rewards from the Academy! How about this, we follow the majority rule; those who agree, raise your hands!"

This moment was also the time that best reflected the captain's authority; if the majority of the team members disagreed, it would mean that he was not a qualified captain.

After finishing speaking, Li Zhangsheng raised his hand first.

Instantly, Yuan Yongyan raised her right hand!

Li Zhangsheng smiled and nodded at her; Yuan Yongyan's heartbeat accelerated instantly, her face flushed red, and her mind was a complete blank.

In an instant, Li Tianyu also raised his right hand.

Unexpectedly, Chen Yunsheng did not lag behind others and also raised his hand to show his agreement.

Looking at the four raised hands, Wang Ding felt so aggrieved he was almost crying, but since the captain and the other team members had all raised their hands in agreement, he could not openly oppose them and had no choice but to raise his hand sullenly.

"Very good, passed unanimously! Everyone can rest assured, the task we are accepting this time is still to clear out Demonized Fairies, it's just that the difficulty is higher than before! Of course, I also have the confidence to confront an Elite-level Demonized Fairy, you can rest assured about this!"

A Difficult-level Task is either to clear out a large number of Demonized Fairies including an Elite-level one, or to kill a wanted Third-rank Royal Beast Master; while the strength between the two seems similar, the former is undoubtedly much easier to deal with, as mindless Demonized Fairies only know how to charge blindly, and their threat level is not even as high as wild Spirit Beasts under the same conditions.

Without hesitation, Li Zhangsheng accepted the Difficult-level Task of clearing out Demonized Fairies.

"This is your task information!"

Instructor Qian Yuanfei smiled and handed the task information to Li Zhangsheng; he also really wanted to see Li Zhangsheng's true strength.

Task: Clear out the Demonized Fairies of Tianlang Mountain!

Objective: Slay one Elite-level Demonized Fairy, three Upper Rank Demonized Fairies, twenty Middle Rank Demonized Fairies, and two hundred Lower Rank Demonized Fairies!

Note: There are no Demonized Fairies above Leader level in Tianlang Mountain and the surrounding area!

Reward: 300 Academic Credits!

Compared to an Ordinary-level Task, the number of Demonized Fairies that need to be cleared for a Difficult-level Task is undoubtedly higher, and it is clearly more difficult.

However, the greater the difficulty, the richer the task reward; for the same task of clearing out Demonized Fairies, the reward for a Difficult-level Task is a full 6 times that of an Ordinary-level Task.

With such a high reward, Li Zhangsheng was confident that he could earn over a hundred Academic Credits per task, because only he could slay an Elite-level Demonized Fairy.

As long as they seize the opportunities, the tasks given by the Academy to the Elite Class students can be very lucrative, allowing them to earn a large amount of Academic Credits.

"It's getting late, let's rest here for the night and set off tomorrow morning, striving to complete the task within one day?"

"Yes, Captain!"

After finishing speaking, everyone returned to their rooms to rest.

The next morning, Li Zhangsheng and the others rode their Flying Demon Pets and landed at the foot of Tianlang Mountain.

Compared to Black Wind Mountain and Heiyun Mountain, Tianlang Mountain was clearly larger, covering a radius of a hundred miles, and was also closer to the Abyss Gate.

"The old rules: while everyone stays vigilant, do not exceed 30 meters in distance from me. If you discover a Demonized Fairy that cannot be defeated, remember to notify me immediately!"

Tianlang Mountain had Elite-level Demonized Fairies; apart from Li Zhangsheng, even Yuan Yongyan was powerless to confront them, as she did not yet have an Upper Rank Demon Pet.

While speaking, Li Zhangsheng began to project his Mental Power, both to avoid accidents and to search for high-quality Demonized Fairies as much as possible.

As soon as he projected his Mental Power, he discovered dense light spots not far away, which indicated that a group likely existed there.

This Difficult-level Task required clearing out a large number of Lower and Middle Rank Demonized Fairies, and a group of Demonized Fairies was undoubtedly the best target.

However, they first had to determine if they had the strength to take down this group.

A group of Demonized Killer Bees!

Using his projected Mental Power, Li Zhangsheng 'saw' their appearance; he saw a huge beehive several meters high, with a large number of Demonized Killer Bees, each only the size of an adult's fist, drilling in and out, not knowing what they were doing.

Li Zhangsheng pointed in the direction of the beehive and said: "There is a small group of Demonized Killer Bees there, numbering about one hundred; with our strength, it is enough to take down this group! Everyone, release your Fire Element Demon Pets, and listen to my command to attack the beehive in a moment!"

Without hesitation, the four team members released their Fire Element Demon Pets one after another.

Soon, the huge beehive came into their view, and at the same time, the Killer Bees also spotted their tracks.

"Attack!"

As Li Zhangsheng's voice fell, several Fire Element Demon Pets launched long-range attacks one after another, among which the Fire Phoenix was the strongest.

Chirp~

The Fire Phoenix opened its sharp Bird Beak and took a deep breath; its belly visibly sank, and it spat out a stream of Flame Dragon Breath as thick as a water barrel from its mouth, rapidly sweeping toward the beehive.

The other Fire Element Demon Pets also spat flames from their mouths, adding to the Fire Phoenix's momentum.

Boom~

In an instant, the huge beehive was set directly ablaze, and countless burning Demonized Killer Bees fell one after another, losing their lives immediately.

Killer Bees belong to a low-level Servant Race; their bodies are very small, their physical strength is naturally not high, and besides, fire is exactly what they fear most.

Within a few breaths, a large number of Demonized Killer Bees died, but there were also many that escaped the disaster; they gathered into a cluster and charged toward Li Zhangsheng and the others aggressively.

But before they could get close, the several Fire Element Demon Pets launched a second wave of attacks, and again a large number of Demonized Killer Bees suffered the fate of being killed instantly; the remaining ones were already insignificant.

After all, they were mindless Demonized Fairies; even after most were killed, they still fought to the death without retreating.

Soon, the dust settled!

All the Demonized Killer Bees were wiped out, and Li Zhangsheng and the others did not clean up the battlefield and continued to look for the next target.

"Huh!"

Not long after, Li Zhangsheng let out a sound of surprise and doubt, an expression of excitement faintly appearing on his face; the Mental Power he had kept projected outward fed back to him that he seemed to have found a Demonized Fairy of extremely high value.
