Chapter 13: Taking Sister Lin to See an Old Chinese Doctor!
Everyone returned to their own homes.
It began to rain on the way.
Because visibility was affected, a figure darted out from the right, and the driver, in a panic, slammed on the brakes.
Du Xi was caught off guard, and her whole body collided with Tang Ye.
Tang Ye felt Du Xi's cheek press against his right cheek.
A faint fragrance drifted from the tips of Du Xi's hair into his nose.
"Master, please drive slower, there's no rush."
Tang Ye hurriedly steadied Du Xi's arm, and after the two separated slightly, he spoke softly to the driver.
"Hey, sorry, a drunkard, really having no regard for his life!" the driver complained with a sigh.
Du Xi felt her heart suddenly tighten just now, a tingling, numb sensation, and she subconsciously stole a glance at Tang Ye.
Tang Ye looked straight ahead, as if nothing had happened, only becoming quieter.
The atmosphere, which had been pleasant and chatty, instantly became reserved.
Sun Hai was carefree, rambling on and on to himself.
He did not notice that the two in the back row were deliberately keeping a wide distance between them.
The taxi stopped at the entrance of the "Yunhu Courtyard" residential complex, where a middle-aged woman was holding an umbrella, standing on tiptoe and looking around.
Du Xi saw clearly that it was her mother and said with a smile to Tang Ye and Sun Hai, "My mom is here to pick me up, you don't need to see me inside."
Tang Ye instinctively offered a compliment, "Your mother looks very young."
Du Xi pursed her lips in a faint smile and glanced quickly at Tang Ye, "When we go out shopping, others think we are sisters."
Du Xi got out of the car, and seeing that Tang Ye was also preparing to get out, she stopped him, "The rain is quite heavy, you don't need to come out."
Tang Ye had already poked one foot out of the car door, "I should greet your mother, otherwise it would seem impolite."
Du Xi introduced him to her mother, "This is Tang Ye, and the one in the car is Sun Hai; they brought me back."
"Hello, Auntie!"
Tang Ye took the initiative to greet Du Xi's mother.
Du Xi's mother's gaze landed on Tang Ye, and she quickly observed him, "It's raining quite hard, you should hurry back into the car!"
Tang Ye waved goodbye to Du Xi and her mother, "You two should head into the complex as well."
Watching the taxi leave, Du Xi's eyes remained fixed on the rear of the car.
Du Xi's mother probed, "So he is the old classmate Tang Ye you mentioned? He's quite tall and doesn't look bad either."
Du Xi was stunned for a moment, her cheeks burning, "Mom, don't you go misunderstanding things."
Du Xi's mother smiled, "Men should marry, and women should wed. You were high school classmates, you know each other's roots, and you have a foundation of feelings; if it's suitable, you can get to know each other. However, he is in Pinghu Town, and you work in the city; it would be difficult to meet usually."
"You're overthinking it! There's nothing between us!" Du Xi understood her mother's subtext and was wary of the fact that Tang Ye worked in a township, "He is a Seconded Official from the Municipal Party Committee; he will return to the city after a year."
"Xi Xi, you are relatively naive and don't know the dangers of society. You must look at people with a magnifying glass; you need to figure out his purpose in associating with you, whether he has ulterior motives, and whether he approached you because of your father."
"What are you saying! He doesn't have that intention at all."
Du Xi glared at her mother angrily, stamped her foot hard, and rushed into the rain alone.
"I was just saying it casually, why are you angry!"
Du Xi's mother felt a sense of alarm; her daughter wouldn't really have fallen for him, would she?
Her daughter had never been in a relationship since she was young, and many excellent boys she had introduced had been rejected by her for various reasons. Tang Ye's image was good, but she didn't know his family situation yet; marriage was a major life event, and she couldn't be impulsive.
Inside the taxi, Sun Hai chatted idly with Tang Ye.
Sun Hai's father was a somewhat well-known developer in Hanzhou, but Sun Hai did not get along with his father. Back in high school, Sun Hai didn't like to study, and teachers often called his parents; Sun Hai didn't get beaten little when he went home, and he was often covered in bruises.
"Tang Monk, I want to find a way to get rich, can you help me brainstorm?"
Sun Hai had mentioned this to Tang Ye several times while eating, but Tang Ye thought he was joking and didn't respond.
One doesn't fear a rich second generation living a life of debauchery, but one fears a rich second generation wanting to start a business.
"Isn't it good enough to just be a rich second generation in peace?"
"I've had a falling out with my dad, and I want to achieve some success to make him look at me with new eyes. Although Pinghu is a small place, there must be business opportunities. If you encounter any, you can point me in a direction. I don't have much capital and can't take on big jobs, so I have to start slowly."
Seeing Sun Hai opening up to him, Tang Ye smiled and said, "I'll keep your words in mind."
Although the time since they reconnected wasn't very long, and so many years had passed in between, Tang Ye already had an understanding of Sun Hai's character.
His mind turned quickly, his emotional intelligence was high, and he was well-versed in the ways of the world.
Perhaps he could carve out a path for himself amidst the surging tides!
The next day, at 9:30 in the morning.
Tang Ye waited for Cheng Lin at the entrance of the City People's Hospital.
Compared to her usual formal attire, Cheng Lin's outfit today was slightly more casual, but it was clear she had put effort into matching it. Her jet-black hair draped over her shoulders, a light blue hair clip pulled back her bangs, revealing a smooth and full forehead. Her lips were painted with a near-nude lipstick, and her delicate features, combined with her intellectual and charming temperament, were not inferior even when compared to female stars in movies and television dramas.
Tang Ye exaggeratedly looked her up and down and sighed, "Sister Lin, long time no see, you've become even more beautiful."
Cheng Lin patted Tang Ye on the shoulder, "You dare to tease me; your courage is getting bigger and bigger."
Tang Ye rubbed his shoulder and said with a grin, "I'm telling the truth, look around, everyone is staring at you!"
There were indeed people around staring at her; Cheng Lin's earlobes turned red. She quickly lowered her head and tugged at the corner of Tang Ye's shirt, "Let's hurry into the hospital, don't keep the doctor waiting too long."
Tang Ye led Cheng Lin into the hospital, and from time to time, people would greet him.
Dr. Cao from the Emergency Department pulled Tang Ye aside for a few words, "Where have you been lately? I haven't seen you for a long time."
"Hey, I went to the countryside."
"Went to Pinghu? It must be quite hard!"
"Not as hard as you. Did you pull another all-nighter yesterday? Your eye bags are so dark they could squeeze out ink!"
"There was a patient who was feeding a cow when it suddenly went wild, and he was gored in the stomach by its horns; after a night of emergency treatment, he was finally saved."
"Tsk tsk, remarkable!"
Tang Ye thought to himself, the world is full of wonders, that patient was quite unlucky!
After Tang Ye left, Doctor Cao sighed to himself that the woman by Tang Ye's side was truly beautiful and had such a refined temperament.
Tang Ye grew up in the hospital compound and was very familiar with the medical staff.
Tang Ye was deeply liked by the old comrades at the Old Cadre Bureau, partly because he had these special resources; whenever the old comrades came for medical treatment, Tang Ye would basically handle the registration and queuing all by himself.
Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic.
Sitting in the consultation seat was an elderly gentleman who was not tall but was in high spirits.
He had white hair and a youthful face, possessing the air of an immortal.
He had Cheng Lin sit down and placed his hand on her wrist to check her pulse.
"Grandpa Hu, looking at your expression, it shouldn't be a big problem."
Doctor Hu withdrew the pulse pillow, "Oh? Have you checked her pulse? Tell me what you think?"
Tang Ye hurriedly shook his head and said with a smile, "I didn't check her pulse! I know your habits; if you raise your eyebrow once, it's definitely fine! If you raise it twice, then it's bad!"
Doctor Hu gave Tang Ye an annoyed look and wrote out a prescription in one breath, "Yin deficiency, go back and take the medicine for a month to regulate it, and you'll be fine."
Cheng Lin glanced at the flamboyant, cursive handwriting.
Even though they were all Chinese characters, she couldn't recognize a single one.
Tang Ye turned into a "Chinese-to-Chinese" translator, "Platycladus leaf, prepared rehmannia, raw rehmannia, achyranthes..."
The light of moisture welled up in Cheng Lin's beautiful eyes!
Little Tang certainly has some skills, otherwise he wouldn't be able to read the prescription.
"Thank you."
Doctor Hu caught a glimpse of Tang Ye secretly placing two boxes of tea in the corner and said with a smile, "Please look after this child Tang Ye more in the future; although his father is a Western medicine doctor, he is especially compatible with me. He often came here to help out during summer breaks; acupuncture, massage, he knows them all."
A faint smile on Cheng Lin's palm-sized pretty face faded, and she looked toward Tang Ye.
The implication was, you kid have hidden your talents quite deep...
Tang Ye felt embarrassed by Cheng Lin's gaze and self-deprecatingly said, "It's just a hobby; at most, I can only treat small animals, acting as a... veterinarian."
Doctor Hu said unhappily, "You've studied with me for so many years, and now you're belittling yourself; I'm not happy about that. You might not care about your face, but I care about my reputation!"
Tang Ye glanced at the door and said with a smile, "There are still patients behind us, so we won't waste any more time."
The word "scram" was on the tip of his tongue, but Doctor Hu glanced at Cheng Lin and switched to a gentle tone, "Hmm, go on then!"
Tang Ye accompanied Cheng Lin to collect the medicine at the traditional Chinese medicine window, passing through the emergency hall.
A group of people were blocking the entrance to the emergency treatment room.
Doctor Cao was surrounded in the middle.
Tang Ye tucked the hem of his shirt into his waist and frowned, "Sister Lin, I'll go see what's happening."
Cheng Lin watched Tang Ye's back and couldn't help but cover her forehead and shake her head.
This brat!
His habit of "meddling in other people's business" has flared up again...
