Chapter 18: Awe of Goblin City

~7 min read 1,397 words

Naimi Xisi flies in the sky, while on the ground are his two hundred Gnoll Legion and a few Dragon Vein Relatives.

"A troublesome autumn."

Naimi Xisi, as he traveled, found that on the road to Goblin City many small tribes had already vanished, and he sensed that war might also break out here.

In these three years, the three Gnolls Naimi Xisi originally left behind have not died, persisting in the duty of returning to the High Tower once a month to open the passage; he occasionally also sends Gnolls to the ground to scout.

That Green Dragon's army entered the forest in full force in the first year; a massive army of thousands of Monsters tore to pieces any creature that faced them, and the small village near the Mage High Tower was the first target of the Monster army along the way.

The specifics have become unclear, but when the Gnolls returned, the scene in their minds was only a wasteland.

It is said that farther away, the Green Dragon led the Monster army to capture a city, and a bishop of the Shangtiya Church gave his life to stop it, grievously wounding Ao Qi Wei Li Si.

But that bishop later died; without the Elder Green Dragon to block them, it rested only a few days before launching another assault, looting nearly a million gold coins, and destroying almost one‑third of the city.

Victorious, Deep Poison Ao Qi Wei Li Si returned with her army to the mountains, adorning her lair with the massive wealth taken from the plunder.

Adventurers from far and wide, renowned across the lands, streamed continuously toward the Yinbu Tu Kingdom; the vast majority were drawn by the king's dragon‑slaying bounty, and occasionally one or two lost adventurers would break into the High Tower and discover the passage to the underground.

But the adventurers who came down would be instantly torn apart by the Monster army guarding the passage.

The situation on the ground has become a mess; the Green Dragon's relatives and the adventurers' main battlefield lie within the forest, and in these three years Naimi Xisi has never gone up, fearing to be caught in an unforeseen disaster.

He did not expect that the underground is now also unsettled.

No, it should be said that this is the norm of the Underdark.

"It's finally arriving."

Naimi Xisi saw faint building traces in the distance and sighed in relief; to bring his army, he had to reduce his flight speed these past days, spending a great deal of time catching up, otherwise his usual speed would have let him arrive in a single day.

The invisible Naimi Xisi was not noticed by the guards of Bricolekt City, but the army of a full two hundred Gnolls frightened them into raising the alarm.

"Enemy attack!! Wild dogs are coming!!" the goblin guards on the stone wall screamed, frantically pulling the alarm bell, the harsh clanging echoing through the little city.

No wonder they're so tense; none of the races that come to Bricolekt City for trade would bring such a massive army, and moreover Gnolls, as a primitive blood‑thirsty tribe without any civilized social structure, are not tradeable at all.

In the city's center, Volensa, the tribal chief inside his tent, opened his eyes, twitching his huge fan‑shaped ears characteristic of Bear Goblins, his vague, muddled gaze sharpening.

"Who are those black‑skinned elf brats? Damn, how did they arrive so quickly?"

The Goblin City leader sprang to his feet, flexing his robust muscles as he charged toward the outer wall; with a powerful leap he cleared seven or eight meters, his extreme speed even generating a gust of wind, and in just two minutes he reached the city gate.

Naimi Xisi squinted; Volensa's speed exceeded his expectations—this is the boost from the Wanderer profession, ultimate speed, and also the melee opponent most despised by Spellcasters.

Wanderers are practitioners loyal to the Shadow Path; they excel at concealment, and the most advanced can even slip into shadows, and their greatest trait is extreme speed. It is said that Legendary‑level assassins (the Wanderer's advanced class) can burst at several times the speed of sound! Volensa's gaze darkened as he scanned the Gnoll army, trying to spot any Dark Elf, but found none, which gave him a slight relief, yet the massive Minotaur and Ogre in the ranks caught his attention.

"Those are… Dragon Vein Creatures?!" Volensa's complexion turned sour; the Minotaur and Ogre bore unknown silver markings, exuding a faint True Dragon aura, a typical trait of Dragon Vein Creatures. This made him worry whether a True Dragon might be behind those two Dragon Vein Creatures.

"Indeed they are Dragon Vein Creatures, and there is also a True Dragon there," a blue‑skinned female goblin stepped beside Volensa, glancing at Naimi Xisi's position in mid‑air with a wary look.

She is Gelikete, a rare Blue Goblin and the second‑in‑command of this Goblin City, a Sixth-level Psychic Sorcerer! Behind her stands a male Blue Goblin radiating Psychic Ability waves; this male is taller than ordinary goblins, and his blue skin is darker than Gelikete's, almost black.

From a stance perspective, the other is merely something like a disciple of the former.

"Finally they appear, Psychic, show your strength."

Target creature: male Bear Goblin is an Eighth-level Warrior and part‑time Fourth-level Wanderer; target creature: female Blue Goblin is a Sixth-level Psychic Sorcerer; target creature: male Blue Goblin is a Sixth-level Psychic Sorcerer.

Naimi Xisi raised an eyebrow; Volensa's strength was higher than he had heard, likely far stronger than Danoli. Moreover, that unnamed male Blue Goblin possessed the same power as Gelikete.

Juan Ce Long considered for a moment, dispelled his invisibility, and revealed his form.

Volensa's pupils contracted; Naimi Xisi's size had already reached the juvenile Dragon stage, which is not easy to handle. Level does not mean everything; a Sixth-level Warrior goblin facing a juvenile True Dragon would likely be a two‑claw matter, even he must proceed with caution.

Gelikete bent down and, on behalf of Volensa, said, "Welcome, mighty True Dragon. May I ask what brings you here?"

The Psychic Sorcerer's demeanor was humble yet tinged with arrogance; unlike Volensa, Psychic Sorcerers are innately self‑centric, a common flaw of Idealism.

Naimi Xisi looked at her and lazily said, "Don't worry, I have no interest in killing you; I'm only here to ask you something."

That is a fact; if he originally still harbored the idea of conquering Goblin City, after perceiving that war was about to break out, Naimi Xisi decided it was best to look after himself.

Gelikete was somewhat surprised; she hadn't expected the dragon to come toward her, and Volensa beside her glared, as if asking what she had done to summon such a massive Buddha back.

The Psychic Sorcerer gave a wry smile and said, "I do not know what the True Dragon Excellency wishes to know; I will do my utmost to fulfill it."

Juan Ce Long shifted his body in the air, approaching the wall; the massive Dragon Might descended upon the goblins, Volensa's skin prickling with gooseflesh, his muscles tensing, ready at any moment to face the dragon's assault.

But Naimi Xisi simply raised a claw, pointing at the Psychic Sorcerer and said, "I wish to learn how to become a Psychic Sorcerer."

Gelikete froze for a moment, and Volensa was also stunned, thinking, "You cause such a grand scene just to learn?" Naimi Xisi cared little about that; as a drake who had survived five years in a ruined tower, he was always prepared for the worst.

Reason exists only within strength; this is the truth he firmly believes.

Gelikete breathed a sigh of relief; if that's the case she didn't mind. Unlike mages who cherish their own broom, Psychic Sorcerers are delighted to see the birth of fellow practitioners; they even hope everyone in the world can become masters of Psychic Ability, wandering the Star Realm.

"Of course, True Dragon Excellency, I am happy to answer the ancient method to the Mind Path for you. In fact, Bricolekt City welcomes you and your dependents to stay in the city for a while."

Gelikete replied, but she did not notice behind her that her most trusted apprentice, who was also her lover—Delike Laite—showed a flash of panic in his eyes.
