Chapter 243: Finding Eleven
In the noisy police station, Officer Hans was daydreaming while listening to the quarrelling parents causing a ruckus, when he suddenly saw a man in black walk in.
The man looked extremely delicate in appearance; his silver long hair made him look nothing like a hippie, but rather refined and scholarly.
Just as he was about to stand up and ask what the other party was doing, Sheriff Jim stepped out of the office.
"Mr. Naimi Xisi? What brings you here?" Jim said, a little nervous.
Though he was big and burly, the sight of the man's grotesque sorcery that day made this fearless sheriff feel a bit uneasy, fearing he might fall victim to some insidious spell.
Naimi Xisi smiled, "My intuition tells me I'll gain something by coming to see you today."
In fact, it wasn't intuition; on a whim he constructed a ritual, cast a prophetic spell, and the spell's result led him to Hawkins Town Police Station.
The woman who had been shouting nearby saw Jim emerge and rushed forward, shouting, "Sheriff Jim! I'm telling you, you must give me an answer about my son's matter today!"
Jim glanced at her impatiently, "What petty nonsense is it that you expect me to handle?"
"Hans, record their statements; I'll check them myself later," Jim curtly ordered Hans to calm them down.
Then he turned to Naimi Xisi, "I have some information I'm about to tell you; since we're heading out to look for clues, shall we talk while we walk?"
In the office behind him, the three Qiao Yi Si also stepped out; when they saw Naimi Xisi, Qiao Na Sen's eyes lit up—he felt the monster in his photo must have its answer in this man.
Nan Xi, standing aside, was also stunned by the stranger's looks; after all, Hawkins Town is sparsely populated, and people as exquisitely handsome as Naimi Xisi are usually only seen on TV, which made the teenage girl a bit shy.
Naimi Xisi nodded in agreement to Jim's suggestion, and just as he was about to turn and leave the station, a sound at his ear suddenly caught his attention.
It was the parents' recorded statements.
"Tell the police who the bitch that broke your arm really is!" the boy's mother shouted angrily.
The boy, his arm in a cast, replied gloomily, "I told you, you don't believe me; it was a short‑haired girl, she's a monster! I never even touched her, yet my arm broke."
Naimi Xisi suddenly turned back, hurried to the boy and his parents.
"Say what you just said again."
Naimi Xisi's gaze was sharp as he stared at the boy, who felt the hairs on his back stand up and the oppressive air make it hard to breathe.
The boy's parents, seeing this man appear out of nowhere so impolite, immediately scolded, "Who are you? Can't you see we're giving statements? It's none of your business."
Naimi Xisi ignored them, fixing his stare on the boy, a violet halo flashing in his eyes.
"Tell me what happened," his tone softened, hypnotic, making the boy's mind grow hazy.
"I met Mai Ke and Da Si Ting; I wanted to bully them, but a short‑haired girl showed up. I don't know how she did it, but she snapped my arm out of thin air and even sent Mai Ke flying. Mai Ke calls her Eleven."
Naimi Xisi curled his lips, finally finding it.
Mai Ke Da Si Ting
If I'm not mistaken, those kids we met that night were called that.
Sheriff Jim, hearing this, also paled; the short‑haired girl left an impression. A few days earlier, a restaurant owner was shot dead; before dying he called him, saying a short‑haired girl had escaped after being kidnapped. Jim planned to check it out, but when he arrived the owner was already dead and the girl was gone.
At this point, Naimi Xisi turned to him and asked, "Mai Ke, Da Si Ting, do you know these two kids? I need to find them."
Qiao Yi Si, hearing this, suddenly exclaimed, "I know! Mai Ke, Da Si Ting, Lu Ka Si—they're all good friends of Wei Er; after Wei Er disappeared, they've been looking for him!"
——
Meanwhile, at Mai Ke's house entrance.
A fleet of cars bearing FBI symbols parked at Mai Ke's doorstep, swarms of men in black coming and going, hauling various items out of the house.
A white‑haired man in a suit stood before Mai Ke's parents and smiled, "This is a necessary process, no need to worry."
Mai Ke's mother, Ms. Kai Lun, looked frantic, worry etched in her brows, "Is what you say true? Is Mai Ke really in danger? Doctor Bu Lun Na."
Doctor Bu Lun Na nodded, sighed, "There's a very dangerous person hidden near Mai Ke; we've been searching, and only today confirmed they're in your home."
"For Mai Ke's safety, we hope you won't conceal anything; once you have any news about them, inform us immediately."
Seeing Doctor's sincere eyes, Ms. Kai Lun nodded heavily, her heart feeling like it was being cut.
"By the way, does your eldest daughter Nan Xi know a girl named Ba Ba La?" Doctor asked casually.
!
Ms. Kai Lun hesitated, "Yes, she's close with Ba Ba La; that child disappeared not long ago and still hasn't been found, Nan Xi is very upset."
Doctor's eyes flashed with insight; he sensed that the missing Ba Ba La was likely tied to the reverse‑world monsters. If Nan Xi knew the truth, she couldn't be left alive.
"Alright, we're also handling the missing‑person case in Hawkins Town; when Nan Xi returns, you can have her contact us, we'll record her statement and see if any clues emerge," Doctor said gently.
Kai Lun didn't think much, reasoning that it was just a statement; Nan Xi wasn't a suspect, and helping locate Ba Ba La's child was fine, so she agreed.
After speaking, Doctor suddenly felt a gaze upon him; he looked out the window and saw several kids on bicycles down the street, one of whom was Eleven!
He sprang up, stepped outside, and whispered, "Target spotted, chase them."
The men in black rushed to their vehicles; seeing this, Mai Ke and the others immediately hopped onto bikes and fled.
Da Si Ting rode while crying, "It's over, it's over, it's over! How did they all come to your house so fast? What do we do now!"
The quiet suburban street erupted in noise; a dozen cars chased them from behind, while their only transport was bicycles.
To avoid being caught, Mai Ke and the others darted through the alleys.
"Oh my god, oh my god, look at the car!"
They just left the alley and instantly saw a black car speeding toward them, while on the other side of the avenue another car blocked the intersection.
Eleven's expression grew solemn; she had to act. Though she had never handled a device of such massive mass, she had to try, or else she would be captured again and sent back to that hopeless place!
She raised her hand, pointing at the oncoming car.
The next moment, in her bewildered gaze, a flood of silver light filled everything on her retina.
