Chapter 27: Spell Battle

~7 min read 1,236 words

Akdina has not acted since the True Dragon appeared; she must reserve her Spell Slots to deal with this most troublesome fellow.

But she wishes to avoid fighting, while Naimi Xisi does not; he lifts his dragon head, a flash of yellow light flashes in his eyes, and then the remaining dozens of Coyote Wolves, in a dispersed formation, charge at Akdina all at once.

The Sorceress saw the opponent's insidious intent; he wanted to use these waste to consume her Spell Slots! Unfortunately, the Dark Elves who could stop those Coyote Wolves were trembling under the opponent's Dragon Might, so she raised the Snake Head Staff and recited a prayer unlike ordinary spells.

Third Circle Divine Spell — 【Mass Conviction】! Dark light radiated from the Snake Head Staff, illuminating all Dark Elves; an inexplicable courage rose continuously from their hearts, and the formerly powerful Dragon Might was now ineffective against them.

Akdina sneered, "Since you want to drain my Spell Slots, let's see whether an army without Minotaurs can still defeat my Shadow Sword Legion."

Then she again extended her slender jade hand, gripping the Snake Head Staff, and pointed at that pack of Coyote Wolves.

"A pack of wild dogs, worthy of the Drow Noble's glory?"

The Sorceress wielded a mysterious spell, and a pea-sized fire spark floated before her.

Fireball Technique! "Boom!!"

The fire spark grew as it flew toward the Coyote Wolves; when it struck, all thirty‑plus Coyote Wolves within a twenty‑meter radius were devoured by raging flames, and the explosion's shockwave even shredded the wolves caught in it to pieces.

The surviving Coyote Wolves kept advancing, as if they hadn't seen their slain kin, expressionless, they charged the Sorceress.

The Dark Elf warrior beside Akdina could not stay put; his figure shot out like an arrow, the wind stirred by his speed, his longsword in hand like the Grim Reaper, continuously harvesting the Coyote Wolves' lives.

But soon she was called by the Sorceress: "Wait, Zata, something's wrong."

She realized that the Coyote Wolves' behavior was unlike typical monster habits, as if they were being controlled; if the Coyote Wolves were indeed controlled, Akdina snapped her head up, looked toward her distant Shadow Sword Legion, and, as expected, now freed from Dragon Might, they had not launched an attack.

Instead they remained in place, staring at her intently.

The remaining thirty‑plus Dark Elves had their purple eyes replaced by yellow halos; expressionless, like the Coyote Wolves, the longswords they gripped no longer fought for their lady master, but instead pointed back at themselves.

"Damn, Enchantment Spell? Psychic Ability? Divine Spell?" Akdina's mind flashed with countless guesses; this strange scene truly frightened her, and in the silent moment it had somehow taken control of over thirty fifth‑rank Shadow Sword Warriors?

What absurd power is this, could this dragon actually be a rare Mind Master?

Naimi Xisi curled his mouth, "Got discovered."

But it didn't matter; his purpose was achieved, and he never expected those Coyote Wolves to harm the opponent.

He was merely using Akdina's hand to clear his Mind Power's control slots; having lost a hundred Coyote Wolves, he now possessed enough Spiritual Power to control all these formidable Shadow Sword Warriors! Truly a fifth‑rank special vocation, these thirty‑plus Shadow Sword Warriors completely drained Naimi Xisi's Spiritual Power, equivalent to the previous hundred Coyote Wolves! Now every slave army on the battlefield has been wiped clean, the Shadow Sword Squad also fell into his grasp, and Akdina possessed only that tenth‑rank warrior left.

Volensa finally leapt down from the city wall, moving with ghostly speed even faster than Zata, yet without stirring a single breeze, silently appearing before Zata.

The two warriors stared at each other, and Zata instantly sensed that this Bear Goblin was not an easy opponent; a few hairs on his nape bristled, a portent of danger.

"Akdina, Akdina, the unfavored Fourth Miss, the Matron Mother's eternal waste, tell me, what tricks have you not yet employed?" The True Dragon lowered its dragon head, mocking the Drow in a poetic tone.

Akdina's beautiful face twisted for a moment, her eyes revealing fury; the Sorceress clenched her silver teeth and said, "Fine, fine, you think you've got a sure victory? You think these waste can kill me?"

Naimi Xisi ignored it, and instead said in an even more mocking tone, "Ah, a sure victory? That only applies when facing an equal opponent."

"But you, Drow from Menzoberranzan, in my eyes your strength is even less than that male Drow beside you; perhaps that's why the Matron Mother gave up on you? Because you are a Drow who is not only foolish but also weak, a Drow who can't even surpass a male Drow?"

"You shut up!!!" Akdina screamed.

Naimi Xisi's every sentence pierced her heart as if he had read her mind; she always enjoyed Zata's surrender to her in bed, because she knew that was the only reason this powerful male Drow served her.

Yet as a female Drow, even a male Drow under her command outshines her, a fact Akdina subconsciously refuses to confront.

And the Matron Mother, that vile, ugly, foolish old...! How could she abandon her! She will prove she is stronger than everyone! If strength doesn't permit, she will use intrigue and poison to vindicate herself! The Sorceress angrily recited a spell, massive magical power gathered around her, blue‑white Arcane light shining in her eyes.

Naimi Xisi felt a hidden joy; his half‑day of crafting insults was not in vain, it was meant to provoke the Sorceress into losing her sanity.

He did not waste time, and decisively began chanting a spell in draconic.

Third Circle Evocation Spell 【Lightning.】

Naimi Xisi's chant was only halfway when the Sorceress's eyes oddly flashed with a triumphant glee; she immediately altered her gesture, unleashing a spell she had long prepared in secret.

Third Circle Abjuration Spell 【Spell Resistance】! Juan Ce Long's spell was only halfway prepared when a powerful magical force breached his Spell Model, causing a massive Magic Net tremor; if he had used his most proficient Conjuration, or a Divination spell, it would have been fine.

But the less‑skilled Evocation spell was completely shattered by that tremor, destroying the Spell Model.

The Magic Net's backlash caused Juan Ce Long's qi and blood to surge; fortunately the True Dragon's powerful physique let him recover after only a few seconds of fainting.

Akdina laughed triumphantly, how naive to think someone raised in Dark Elf society would be angered by insults; they are the most shameless creatures!

The Sorceress, taking advantage of Naimi Xisi's dizziness, raised the Ring in her hand, a red flash, and the spell contained within the Ring was activated.

Fourth Circle Evocation Spell — 【Antigravity】! Massive Force Energy instantly interwove around Naimi Xisi, forming a huge Force Net; a tremendous pressure pressed upon him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Yet she still remained suitably cautious, after all the opponent had just seemingly used a highly powerful Enchantment Spell, controlling the Shadow Sword Drow.

What puzzled her was why the Silver Dragon's innate ability 【Cloud Mist】 had never been seen used by the opponent; if he hides within the mist to prepare a spell, she would have no way of knowing which spell he is using, and thus cannot perform Spell Resistance.
