Chapter 36: Death Spell Circle

~6 min read 1,169 words

A booming sound rang across the battlefield as a massive black pentagram spell circle covered a quarter of the field, including the spot where Naimi Xisi had just been.

Six-ring Necromancy spell—【Death Spell Circle】! Naimi Xisi fled the circle's area of effect, and the black ethereal light that surged skyward enveloped everything within the circle.

Various mournful screams rang inside the circle, and the next moment Sgena's figure burst out from the pillar of light at the circle's edge, but a third of her body had already rotted, and black dragon blood continuously vomited from her mouth.

She croaked weakly, "You ran really… fast… ugh."

Naimi Xisi proudly nodded; when it came to fleeing, no one could outrun him!

The black ethereal light that swept the battlefield lasted ten seconds before vanishing, and the massive pentagram circle faded into the void, leaving its former area devoid of any living creature.

All beings aged, rotted, and finally turned into clumps of ash.

Naimi Xisi, still trembling, glanced at the ash drifting in the air; his scales were not as hard as Sgena's, and he probably wouldn't have had a chance to escape.

"The True Dragon's vitality is truly formidable," he sighed. A teenage black dragon had somehow survived within a Six-ring spell.

Drow Mage watched the two dragons slip past his attack, let out a cold snort, and could only helplessly watch them return to the city walls.

The battlefield was too far away; unless he had the super‑magic technique 【Spell Extension】, he could not cast spells at such a distance.

Gode looked at the two dragons with satisfaction and said, "Your mission was completed quite well."

Not only did Naimi Xisi and Sgena slay many troops, but the single strike of the 【Necromancer Spell Circle】 caused that Drow to wipe out nearly a quarter of his own forces.

At Sarufar's command, the city gates opened, and countless orcs let out thunderous roars as they streamed out like fish.

The Dark Elf army finally reached the fortress of KuraGromsh, the Mind Flayer stronghold, and the two sides officially began a brutal butchering battle.

The orcs either swung sharp axes or raised sturdy shields, forming iron walls and bronze barriers. Undead and Monsters tried to break through with their frail bodies, sparking clanging bursts of metal.

Gray Dwarves on the wall moved deftly between the battlements, precisely hurling burning stones, attempting to hinder the rapidly approaching Shadow Sword Drows behind them.

Shadow Sword Warriors leapt from the heavens, sweeping across the battlefield like wind, like a flash of lightning, quickly closing in on the orc defensive line.

Hundreds of dark‑energy arrows shot from their hands, piercing the orcs' heads, followed by a ferocious charging slash.

Drow warriors brandished their swords, the dazzling blades cutting across the battlefield like lightning, cutting down one orc warrior after another.

Naimi Xisi shook his head; the gap between the Drow Shadow Swords and the orcs was too great— even with only a few hundred Shadow Swords, the orcs would eventually be cut down one by one.

The orcs' clumsy speed couldn't keep up with the Shadow Swords, and when weapons clashed, their strength was far inferior to that of these Six-level Warriors.

At this rate, they'll lose sooner or later.

He had to keep casting spells to bombard the enemies closing on the orc line, but the area damage also struck many orcs.

After fighting Akdina, he clearly realized the importance of these low‑rank classes; whichever side wins, they pose a huge trouble for the opponent's high‑rank classes.

The Drow Mage rose into the air, his dark robe rustling in the breeze, a black pentagram hovering over his chest like a black hole devouring all light.

He pointed a single hand at Sarufar, his voice rising from low to high like a soul‑reaping specter.

"Sarufar!!" "Sarufar!!!"

"I curse you—your skin will age, your flesh will wear, your claws will dull, all of you! —to be devoured by darkness!"

The orc, arms crossed over his chest, let out a low hum while waiting; his skin grew wrinkled, teeth fell from his mouth, and strands of black markings began to spread over his body.

But Sarufar didn't panic; he smacked his lips, letting the blood that fell from his teeth drip, and grinned ferociously.

"You finally couldn't hold back, WuAngNuoSi," he murmured softly.

The Necromancer cast a curse; the black pentagram on his chest erupted with astonishing Arcane Power, the boundless mana shaking the Magic Net and infinitely amplifying the condensed curse energy.

"Darkest Moment." Sgena stared at the Necromancer's chest pentagram, greed filling her eyes.

"The Di Fo Family's most powerful Magic Item, a genuine Lesser Artifact."

Naimi Xisi lifted his draconic brows; it lived up to its name—so powerful as Sarufar's flesh, yet under the curse it became so feeble that even Naimi Xisi doubted whether the opponent could still swing a blade.

For any recipient, this pentagram gem is truly a "Darkest Moment."

"Are you alright?" Sarufar gave a confirming reply; Gode, his face solemn, said to Naimi Xisi, "The power of 【Darkest Moment】 can only be used once a day. We must hold off the Drow's assault until Sarufar recovers."

"WuAngNuoSi wields the Six-ring transformation 【Disintegration Technique】; aside from Sarufar, anyone hit will instantly turn to ash— a single‑target instant‑death spell even stronger than the 【Death Spell Circle】."

"Only by holding out until Sarufar lifts the curse can we have a chance to kill WuAngNuoSi!"

Naimi Xisi was puzzled: without killing the caster, how could the curse be lifted? Could there be a priest here?

Gode smiled and said, "As you see, I am the humble servant of the great Mana God—Ilvash."

Naimi Xisi gave a polite smile, but inside he was confused; he had never heard of this Ilvash, yet the Bloodline Inheritance of Juan Ce Long includes the names of most deities across the Multiverse.

Then Gode walked to Sarufar's side, and a surge of divine power confirmed his words.

【Curse Removal】 is a Third Circle Divine Spell; facing a terrifying curse amplified by a Lesser Artifact, Gode must continuously output power, even converting most of his Divine Spell slots into nourishment for 【Curse Removal】.

During this time, they must face WuAngNuoSi alone.

Naimi Xisi and Sgena exchanged glances, looking toward the Necromancer drifting in from afar.

He had already raised his ornate obsidian staff, aiming at the orcs on the ground; surging mana leapt onto them, turning into a wave of black ethereal light.

The terrifying Death Spell Circle reappeared in the sky; the orcs it enveloped were horrified, but it was of no help.

A towering column of dark light engulfed countless orcs; after a few seconds the column vanished, endless ash scattered in the air, so much that the atmosphere turned murky.

That was the ash of nearly eight hundred orc corpses.

Black ash drifted in the air; the area the circle had covered became a vast void, and every creature present was filled with dread.
