Chapter 43: Distant Realm

~7 min read 1,204 words

Pure spiritual energy continuously surged into Naimi Xisi's body, and the portion belonging to the Psychic Dragon began to become active.

Already near evolution, Naimi Xisi began to devour Mana at will, and he was surprised to find his evolution progress slowly increasing.

A familiar drowsiness attacked, but Naimi Xisi shook his head; now is not the time for him to sleep.

But sleep did not continue, while the body's growth did not stop.

Under the frantic infusion of Mana, Naimi Xisi's scales began to shed, tender flesh exposed to the air, and his body started to swell wildly in a short time.

A six‑meter frame grew to nine meters, twelve meters, fifteen meters! Naimi Xisi clenched his sharp teeth; a body that should have gradually metamorphosed over a month completed the change in an instant, the enlargement of flesh and bone bringing piercing pain.

He has evolved to the Youth Stage!

Having no mind to observe his own changes, Naimi Xisi, after the pain eased, eagerly looked at the gem in the sky.

After gaining a spillway, the gem seemed a bit lighter, no new cracks formed, but its surface shifted slowly from silver to red.

He breathed a sigh of relief; though he didn't know what turning red would entail, at least it wouldn't shatter for now.

The gem's Mana continued to transform; Naimi Xisi rolled his eyes and began to calmly enjoy the Mana filling his body, the result of continual evolution.

The Juan Ce Long that had just evolved into a Youth Dragon, under Mana infusion, continued to climb toward the Young Dragon Stage.

If quantified as data, it would be like a rapid jump of one percent, five percent, ten percent.

The Obelisk also changed at this moment; the endless energy output seemed to strain it as well.

As the reliefs kept shedding, thin cracks began to spread across the monument's surface, and the red spiritual light flickered.

"Don't—don't stop!" At this point Naimi Xisi actually didn't want the Obelisk to stop.

Unfortunately, the silver gem's black‑hole‑like pull made the Obelisk unable to bear it, and after half the gem turned red, the Obelisk's Mana output vanished.

"Boom!"

With the monument's sudden collapse, the central red spirit sphere turned to ash, and Naimi Xisi even vaguely heard an angry roar echoing in the air.

"Thieves cannot stop our inevitable arrival!"

Twisted Mana disappeared with the Obelisk's collapse, and the silver gem fell to the ground.

Naimi Xisi cracked his mouth, a bit regretful; he could feel he was close to reaching the Young Dragon evolution stage again.

"Ninety percent progress... hmm, not lasting enough."

Naimi Xisi picked up the gem; the tiny gem flashed between his massive dragon claws, and a piece of information presented itself in his mind.

It finally unlocked.

Throne effect one: once per month, activate 【Between the Throne】.

Effect two: Monster suppression; any attack by the holder will inflict irreversible injury on monsters.

Effect three: Error! Error! The gem's information suddenly became distorted; the original font of effect three blurred, then turned crimson, and new information appeared in his mind.

Effect @#...! Three #...: Madness! Grant madness! Control madness!

Naimi Xisi furrowed his brows, his dragon face twisted as if he had seen some monster.

All information about Magic Items in the world is provided by the Magic Net, which controls all supernatural forces aside from Mana; what kind of existence can twist the information supplied by the Magic Net? Madness? What does this ability mean. Naimi Xisi swallowed the gem into his belly; whatever the ability, after he synchronizes, he will know it himself. The message transmitted by the Magic Net surprised him again.

The synchronization time is one day! This is simply impossible; theoretically the weakest ultra‑rare item might need only a day of synchronization, but it has never occurred.

Moreover, this gem alone has absorbed so much energy that it clearly cannot be such a weak thing.

This time is almost as if, to fit the Magic Net's rules, a shortest possible synchronization time was forcibly chosen.

Shaking his head, Naimi Xisi stopped caring about it, saying he'd check the synchronization status after a day.

He walked to the edge of the Obelisk's wreckage, rummaged around casually, trying to find something valuable, but found nothing.

The only thing that caught his attention was the inscription inside the Obelisk, which was Mind Flayer script.

"Welcoming the arrival of the Distant Realm?" Naimi Xisi gently brushed the words on the fragment with his dragon claw, murmuring.

The Distant Realm is that thing Gode mentioned?

Just as he was puzzled, the fragment in his hand suddenly turned to ash and vanished into the air; he widened his dragon eyes, unable to believe it.

He felt it was the Magic Net's power; the Magic Net produced a subtle fluctuation in an instant, then erased the fragment's existence.

He suddenly recalled Gode, when speaking of the Distant Realm, that mouth sealed by an unknown force.

It's the Magic Net! It's preventing the Distant Realm from being known by others! A sound arose nearby, and Naimi Xisi turned to see Sgena waking up.

She seemed puzzled about why she was here; her dragon eyes returned to normal black, and the bodily pain twisted her complexion.

"Damn. What the heck—cough, cough, how did I get such severe injuries?" Spitting out a mouthful of dragon blood, Sgena asked gloomily.

Naimi Xisi's complexion was oddly off as he said, "It's Gode; he used Psychic Ability to control you, imprisoning you here. I just fought him to rescue you, and the after‑effects of the battle might be… a bit big?"

Sgena looked at him skeptically; though they'd not known each other long, she could fully see the selfish, cunning nature of the Juan Ce Long before her, making her think his words were an insult to her intelligence.

Seeing she didn't buy it, Naimi Xisi quickly changed the subject, "By the way, do you know the Distant…?"

Having said that, he saw Sgena stare at him as if she'd seen a ghost, and he understood.

"Your... your mouth!" Sgena stammered, "I know, my mouth disappeared when I said that word, right?" Naimi Xisi impatiently cut her off.

He sighed, indeed, the Magic Net was preventing any creature that shouldn't know the Distant Realm's existence from learning it.

The Obelisk perhaps survived thanks to those twisted Mana protections.

But after he read the words above, the Magic Net's power descended and destroyed the wreckage.

Naimi Xisi instinctively felt that 【Distant Realm】 is not something he can explore now; even the great Magic Net that coexists with the Multiverse and surpasses gods fears it, employing every means to keep beings of the Multiverse from knowing its name.

This speculation gave Naimi Xisi a chill; behind this unassuming Obelisk lay such a terrifying existence.

After being frightened by the "vanished mouth," Sgena finally noticed something different.

She said with some surprise, "You evolved?"

Seeing Naimi Xisi's body now more than twice its former size, Sgena felt a bit down; she had planned to, after healing, raid his dragon nest while the little dragon hadn't evolved yet.

But the other side actually evolved. (End of chapter)
