Chapter 514: Staring at Me

~7 min read 1,267 words

San Yue Qi looked at her, about to speak but stopped.

(But in the Rewind… that guy clearly never harmed us…)

She recalled the things that had happened in the previous Rewinds.

She and Lin walked into the Mapo Tofu Shop, Yan Feng served them, and they were knocked out by the spiciness.

But after they passed out, what happened? Yan Feng did nothing.

They just lay on the table, and when they woke up, aside from their faces burning from the heat, nothing else had occurred.

If Yan Feng really wanted to kill them, that chance he could have acted on completely.

But why this time…

San Yue Qi couldn't understand.

With her intellect, she simply couldn't grasp a situation where the other party's Memory had no Rewind.

She only found it strange—previously nothing happened, why the sudden change this time?

"Lin."

San Yue Qi scratched her head, "Do you think there might be some misunderstanding?"

Lin looked at her, a puzzled expression, "Misunderstanding banana?"

"It's just… Yan Feng didn't hurt us before."

San Yue Qi briefly recounted the Rewind events, "He just gave us noodles, we passed out, and when we woke up nothing happened."

Lin was stunned.

"Do you mean banana…"

"I don't know either."

San Yue Qi spread her hands, "I just can't figure out why he suddenly acted this time."

Lin thought for a moment.

"Anyway banana, his hunting me is a fact banana."

Lin gritted her teeth, "And he has a Command Spell, he's a Master, which means he's also after the Holy Grail, banana. Yuanban Family holds a grudge against him, so his targeting me is understandable banana."

San Yue Qi nodded, finding the explanation more reasonable.

"So what do we do now?"

Lin thought for a while, and her expression suddenly changed.

"Oh no banana!"

"What's wrong?"

"Ying banana!"

Lin's voice turned urgent, "Since that madman Yan Feng can come after me, he might also trouble Ying, banana! And her father and mother, banana—though her father should manage, Ying has no means to protect herself, banana!"

San Yue Qi also grew nervous.

"Then hurry to the school!"

"But I didn't bring my phone, banana!" Lin grumbled, tugging her hair, "Otherwise I could contact Ying directly, banana!"

San Yue Qi grabbed her hand in one swift motion.

"Then what are we waiting for! Let's go now! You know the way, right?"

"Of course I know, banana!"

The two sprinted out of the alley, racing toward the school.

Their footsteps faded, and the alley fell silent.

—

Three seconds later.

In the corner of the alley, the lid of the green trash can suddenly shifted.

"Bang."

The lid was pried open from inside, and a hand emerged from the trash can, bracing the edge.

Then a head poked out of the trash can.

Gray shoulder-length hair, hollow golden eyes, and a face showing no expression.

A Xing.

She perched on the trash can lid, scanning the surroundings with those vacant eyes—good, no one around.

She slowly crawled out of the trash can, moving as lightly as a cat.

After landing, she brushed off the wilted vegetable leaves and unknown liquid from herself, and, expressionless, shook the hem of her clothes.

(Why, since last night, have I always felt someone watching me?)

A Xing thought to herself.

The feeling of being watched was faint, yet definitely present.

She turned around several times to look, but saw nothing.

The sensation made her a little creeped out inside—though her face showed nothing at all.

But now, that gaze seemed to have vanished.

A Xing let out a slight sigh of relief.

Just now, hidden in the alley corner, she heard San Yue Qi and the black-haired girl talking.

Someone was hunting San Yue Qi.

They were going to some school.

She seemed not to have been to that school before.

When A Xing previously investigated Huohu's Trail, she indeed hadn't considered places like a school.

What if that fox is hiding inside the school?

She thoughtfully nodded.

Then she turned and walked toward the direction where San Yue Qi and the others had left.

She took three steps.

She stopped.

(That's not right.)

A Xing tilted her head.

(Haven't had breakfast yet.)

She looked up and checked the sun's position.

It's still early; she can eat at the Mapo Tofu Shop and then go look for the school, that should be in time.

She turned a corner and headed in another direction — toward the Mapo Tofu Shop.

The sound of her footsteps faded away.

The alley fell quiet again.

A long time passed.

So long that the sunlight had shifted westward by several meters.

In the shadow at the alley's mouth, a person suddenly appeared.

It was a silver‑haired girl.

The tips of her hair bore a faint gradient, shimmering weakly in the sunlight.

Her eyes were that strange blue‑purple gradient, but now they were dim and dull, as if covered with a layer of ash.

At the corners of the girl's eyes, several black‑red lines spread out like circuitry, strikingly conspicuous against her pale skin.

She stood there quietly, gazing toward the direction where A Xing had vanished.

One hand gently pressed against her chest.

Her lips moved slightly, emitting an almost inaudible sound:

"Xing…"

Perspective shift.

Yan Feng Qili stood before the now unrecognizable building, expressionless, staring at the ruins before her.

The walls were split with several huge cracks, the windows shattered, and the door had been blown three meters away.

The wall toward the kitchen was charred black, and the air still reeked of gas and burnt odor.

He stood like that, motionless.

In those eyes lacking divine sense, no emotion could be read.

Footsteps came from behind.

Sha Jin stepped over broken glass, still tossing the golden weight in his hand.

He glanced at the ruins before him, then at Yan Feng's expressionless face, a slight smile curling his lips.

"Master."

Sha Jin's tone carried a hint of teasing, "You can't be that impatient."

Yan Feng did not turn around.

Sha Jin continued, "At least we should talk first. Look, breaking straight into someone's house and causing this mess—"

He lifted his chin, gesturing toward the street.

In the distance, a fire engine's siren wailed, accompanied by the clamor of onlookers.

"Everyone around has called the police."

Sha Jin shrugged, "And making such a big scene isn't good, right? From what I know, the Rule of this Holy Grail War — Daytime Ceasefire, cannot attract ordinary people's attention — is still quite important, right?"

Yan Feng finally reacted.

He turned his head slightly, giving Sha Jin a glance.

Then he spoke, his voice still in that flat tone:

"What do you think that is?"

Sha Jin froze for a moment, then understood — Yan Feng was asking why a person would suddenly disappear.

"It's her Heroic Spirit's doing."

Sha Jin tossed the weight up, caught it, "It could be a teleportation Magic, or perhaps a spatial transference ability. Though pulling a person straight out of the battlefield's center is a bit exaggerated, it's not impossible."

Yan Feng nodded thoughtfully.

Sha Jin asked again, "And then? Go back?"

Yan Feng was silent for a moment.

Then he named someone.

It was the name of a school.

"Go here."

Sha Jin raised an eyebrow.

"Alright."

He slipped the weight into his pocket, his tone light, "Since it's your idea, Master, I, as a Servant, will naturally obey."

He glanced at the still‑smoking building.

"What about this side then?"

Yan Feng said expressionlessly, "The Church will handle everything."

Sha Jin shrugged.
