Chapter 524: Notice

~6 min read 1,157 words

Lin opened her mouth, as if something were stuck in her throat.

What could she say?

Say she joined the Holy Grail War? Say she was hunted by Yan Feng Qili? Say she blew up her own house with a gas canister?

Each of those, once spoken, feels like a challenge to her father's bottom line.

But if she doesn't say it, what can she do?

Lin gritted her teeth, lifted her right hand, and tugged her sleeve upward.

On the back of her hand, three vivid red Command Spell sigils clearly materialized, emitting a faint crimson glow in the car's light.

Yuanban Shichen's pupils contracted slightly.

He stared at the three sigils and remained silent for a long, long time.

That silence felt tangible, pressing in the carriage, suffocating everyone.

Fujimura curled up in the corner, daring not to breathe.

Saber still gazed out the window, but her ears were clearly perked up.

Finally, Yuanban Shichen let out a long sigh.

That sigh contained too many things, plus an indefinable twinge of heartache.

"Lin," he said in a low voice, "Why did you do this?"

Lin lowered her head and said nothing.

What could she say?

Say she has no grand ambitions, just wants to see Sister Chang Ye Yue again?

Say she never realized how dangerous the Holy Grail War is, thinking it's just a passing stage?

If she said that, not only would her father disbelieve, she herself would feel ashamed.

Lin remained silent, her fingers intertwined, nails nearly digging into her flesh.

Yuanban Shichen looked at her, perhaps understanding a few things in his heart.

His daughter has been stubborn since childhood; once she sets her mind on something, not even nine oxen can pull her back.

Since she secretly entered the Holy Grail War, she must have her reasons—though to Shi Chen, that reason seems so foolish it makes one want to get hemorrhoids again.

(Really... that's terrible.)

Yuanban Shichen sighed inwardly.

But what he didn't know is that Lin's reason is a hundred times more absurd than he imagined.

If he knew his daughter entered the Holy Grail War simply because she wanted to see the mysterious Sister Chang Ye Yue from ten years ago, his blood might boil and his old ailment could flare up on the spot.

"Never mind,"

Yuanban Shichen rubbed his brow, "Things have come to this; saying more is useless."

He looked at Lin, his gaze turning serious.

"Who is your Servant? Let me see."

His eyes swept the car interior, finally landing on Saber.

Saber still stared out the window, her golden hair shimmering in the sunlight, the profile exuding heroic vigor.

Lin froze for a moment, then realized her father had misunderstood.

"Um... Father,"

Lin's voice was a bit awkward, "Saber isn't my Servant."

Yuanban Shichen's movement paused.

"Not yours?"

"She is Fujimura classmate's Servant."

Yuanban Shichen's gaze turned to Tengcun Lixiang.

Fujimura, curled in the corner pretending not to exist, was suddenly called out; she jolted, lifted her head, and met a pair of ice‑blue eyes.

"Uh... that... yes, Uncle Tohsaka... Saber is my... Servant..."

Her voice grew softer, the last few words almost squeezed out between her teeth.

Yuanban Shichen's expression was indescribable.

He looked at Lin, then at Fujimura, then at Saber, and finally placed his gaze back on Lin.

"And yours?"

When he asked, he was silently praying in his heart.

Hoping Lin's Servant would be reliable.

Like the Gilgamesh he summoned years ago—hard to manage, but undeniably top‑tier in power.

Even if a bit lacking, at least it should be a proper Heroic Spirit—

"San Yue Qi sister."

Lin's reply was crisp and decisive.

Yuanban Shichen was taken aback.

San Yue Qi?

He seemed to have heard that name somewhere...

Three seconds later, his mind finally retrieved the corresponding memory from deep within.

Ten years ago, the Fourth Holy Grail War.

The pink‑haired girl, the Servant who stayed by Sister Chang Ye Yue's side.

The one with the Berserker class.

Yuanban Shichen's throat twitched.

"... is that Fen Mao?"

Lin nodded.

Yuanban Shichen fell silent.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but realized he didn't know what to say.

He didn't know much about San Yue Qi.

He only knew that she was Chang Ye Yue's Servant, with a lively personality, but knew nothing beyond that.

He was completely unclear about her power level or abilities.

But since she was that Chang Ye Yue's Servant, she shouldn't be too weak, right?

Yuanban Shichen comforted himself with that thought.

He glanced around and asked, "What about Miss Chang Ye Yue? Is she still here?"

Lin shook their head.

"No. I didn't see her."

Yuanban Shichen couldn't help but rub his forehead.

Fen Mao was present, Chang Ye Yue was not.

What is going on?

"Tell me everything you encountered, in full detail."

Yuanban Shichen took a deep breath, striving to keep his tone Calm, "Start from the beginning, and omit no detail."

Lin nodded and began to speak.

From when she decided to join the Holy Grail War, to summoning San Yue Qi, to Yan Feng Qili suddenly appearing and launching an attack—

"Yan Feng?"

Yuanban Shichen's voice suddenly cut her off.

In those icy blue eyes, something was burning.

Lin nodded.

"He came back, and became Master banana. It's him leading Servants to hunt down my banana."

Yuanban Shichen's hand tightened slightly.

That name—Yan Feng Qili.

He had once trusted him most as a disciple, regarded him as his own offspring, and taught him without reservation.

And the result?

He made him slit his own throat and ascend to the heavens.

"Continue," Yuanban Shichen said, his voice still Calm, but Lin could hear the undercurrent beneath that Calm.

Lin continued speaking.

She said that San Yue Qi could manipulate time, could pause, could accelerate, and even could Rewind.

"Time Stop?"

Yuanban Shichen's eyebrows rose.

Saber also turned her head, a flash of surprise flashing in her emerald eyes.

Tengcun Lixiang looked utterly bewildered.

"Time Stop? Is it that kind of… ability that can make time stop?"

Lin nodded.

"San Yue Jie said she can stop seven seconds banana."

Tengcun's mouth formed an O shape.

"Seven seconds?! Doesn't that mean she can do whatever she wants?! Stab anyone she pleases?! This, this, this is just too terrifying!?"

Saber's brows knit tightly.

She had crossed paths with San Yue Qi during the Fourth Holy Grail War, at Pinokanni's—yet had never heard of her having Time Stop abilities.

If Lin's words were true…

Saber quickly ran through possibilities in her mind.

An opponent who could pause time for seven seconds at will was almost unsolvable.

In those seven seconds, the opponent could do anything, while she couldn't even react.

That's just beyond the limits.

"Lin."

Saber spoke, her voice tinged with uncertainty, "Are you sure Miss San Yue Qi has this ability?"

Lin nodded; Lin could no longer control much now.
