Chapter 526: Long‑Lost Power
A lone silhouette fell from the sky, landing on the ground less than three meters in front of her!
Bai Hang's pupils instantly dilated.
The guy was sprawled in a big‑letter shape on the ground, his legs twisted at odd angles, his left arm bent behind his back, his right arm jutting out with a reverse‑jointed pose; the whole thing looked like a torn rag doll twisted into a pretzel.
Bai Hang's mouth formed an O.
(What the hell?! Jumping from the third floor? Does this person want to kill themselves—?)
The next second, that "rag doll" moved.
Jiantong Shen'er crawled up from the ground, moving so oddly it resembled a newly‑learned‑to‑walk cockroach.
He reached for his twisted left arm and snapped it—"crack"—straightening it.
Then he grabbed his right arm, did the same snap—"crack"—and straightened that too.
He kicked his legs a few times on the floor, the joints emitting a sour‑tooth "clack" sound, and then he stood up.
He stood up.
He jumped from the third floor, fell into that mess, snapped himself back, and stood up.
Bai Hang's eyes twitched wildly.
(No… what is this thing? You think you're a Xianzhou person!)
Jiantong Shen'er straightened his body, turned his neck, and let out a "cackle" sound.
He turned his head toward Bai Hang, and that face once again broke into the goose‑bumps‑inducing smile.
"Classmate Bai… I recognize you."
He took a step forward, the stride a little limp but not slow, "You're a good student, right? Well‑behaved, honest… unlike those fake guys…"
Bai Hang stepped back.
Jiantong Shen'er stepped forward again, his eyes widening even more: "Do you know how disgusting those guys are? Yuan Ban Lin, the pretentious top‑student, who must be filthy behind the scenes! Hypocritical! Disgusting!"
His voice rose higher and sharper, saliva dribbling from his mouth without him noticing.
"Only I am clear‑sighted! Only I know what justice is! My grandfather taught me, I remember it all! Those who killed him must pay the price—!"
He raised his hand, violet‑black magic coalescing in his palm, then hurled it at Bai Hang!
It was a writhing mass—indistinct, just nauseating, like countless insects rolling.
The mass burst apart in midair, forming several black streaks that lunged straight at Bai Hang!
Bai Hang sidestepped the first streak; the second brushed her shoulder; the third—
"Sss—"
Her clothing was slashed open, and a black mark instantly appeared on the exposed skin, burning hot.
(What the heck is this?!)
Bai Hang didn't have time to think, she spun and ran!
Footsteps behind her pursued relentlessly.
She rounded a corner and barreled straight into an Empty Classroom—
But something suddenly tripped her foot!
Bai Hang flopped forward, her knees and palms scraping raw on the ground.
She couldn't attend to the pain; just as she tried to rise, a corner of her eye caught something glowing on the floor.
It was the Mystic Card.
That unknown‑origin Mystic Card had fallen out of her pocket at some point and now lay beside her hand.
The card's surface emitted a faint glow, its intricate patterns flowing as if alive.
Bai Hang froze for a moment, then instinctively reached to pick it up.
The instant the card touched her palm—
the light vanished.
She flipped it over, then switched to her other hand—on the back of that hand, three Command Spells burst into dazzling light!
Bai Hang's eyes widened.
The Command Spells glowed, the card glowed too; the two lights intertwined, growing brighter and more blinding, until finally—
"Boom!"
A warm power surged from the back of her hand into her whole body!
Bai Hang felt her body undergoing a change.
Something emerged from the top of her head—ears—fluffy Fox Ears!
Something swayed behind her—Tail!
Her vision sharpened, a long‑missing power coursed through her body!
She looked down at her hand.
A black robe she hadn't noticed before now clung to her, sleeves embroidered with purple cloud patterns, a belt cinching a slender waist.
The familiar Ice Bow lay quietly in her palm, emitting a pale blue glow.
A few lines of information floated in her mind:
Class: Assassin
Strength: D Durability: C Agility: A+ Magic: B Luck: E Noble Phantasm: A
Class Skills: Breath Blocking A, Solo Action A
Owned Skills: Driver Killer·Absolute Shadow Sky‑rider EX, Fox Fire Hidden Arrow A, Desperate Survival B
Noble Phantasms: Flowing Shadow A, Martyr's Light A+
Bai Hang stared blankly at the data, her brain unable to process it.
(Assassin? Me?)
(Power... returned?)
She moved a finger, and the feeling of her own power flowing inside made her nose tingle slightly.
But there was no time to be moved.
From outside came Jiantong Shen'er's voice, getting closer and closer:
"Bai classmate~? Where are you~? I see the light~! Come out and play with me~"
Bai Hang took a deep breath and gripped the Ice Bow tightly.
She stood up, walked to the window, and gently pushed it open.
Sunlight from outside poured in, bathing her and casting a long shadow.
Footsteps halted outside the door.
"Found you—!!!"
The door was flung open, and Jiantong Shen'er's twisted face peered in, his eyes bulging as if about to pop out—
Then he froze.
The room was empty.
"Where are the people?!"
He rushed into the classroom, looking around; there was no one by the window, no one under the desks, no one in the cabinets—
"Hey—look here, fool."
A voice came from overhead.
Jiantong Shen'er looked up sharply and saw Bai Hang squatting on the wall corner above the doorframe, looking down at him from above.
In those blue eyes there was no fear, only a calm appraisal.
She drew the bowstring, an Ice Arrow forming on the bow, its tip aimed straight at his head.
"You—"
"Swoosh!"
The Ice Arrow shot through the air!
Jiantong Shen'er barely managed to turn his head, and the arrow pierced his calf!
"Aaaah—!!!"
He let out a pig‑slaughter‑like scream, staggered back several steps, and slammed into the wall.
Looking down, he saw a gaping blood hole in his calf, blood gushing out like a faucet turned on!
"Ow ow ow—! You—!"
He gripped the arrow with both hands and pulled it out forcefully!
"Pfft!"
The blood spurted even higher.
Bai Hang's eye corner twitched.
(Is this person sick?)
Jiantong Shen'er tossed the arrow aside and looked down at the wound on his leg.
The wound was healing at a visible speed, the blood slowly stopped, flesh and blood writhed, and finally only a shallow scar remained.
He lifted his head, his smile growing even more insane.
"Hahaha—! You can't hurt me! I have the power my grandfather left me! Insects never die! Never die!"
Bai Hang jumped down from the doorframe and landed by the window.
(Madman, truly a madman.)
She didn't linger in battle, turned and vaulted out through the window.
Outside was the back of the Teaching Building, with a row of low shrubs.
After landing, Bai Hang quickly slipped into the shrubs, crouching low, and sent a message to Jing Yuan via the Command Spell:
"I'm in trouble here; that Jiantong went mad. I lured him away, don't worry."
From the other side of the Command Spell came Jing Yuan's voice, with a hint of helplessness: "Master, you're always like this… fine, be careful."
