Chapter 536: Monkey Show

~7 min read 1,284 words

San Yue Qi feels the corner of the building, looks up at the fifty‑plus‑story tower.

The glass curtain wall reflects an eerie light under the grayish sky, with a narrow decorative strip every few floors.

For ordinary people, this is impossible to climb.

But for her…

"With my Assassin agility, this height… should be no problem, right?"

She mutters softly, while calling in her mind:

"Clockboy, record a Node."

A faint glow emanates from her pocket, and Clockboy's voice sounds:

"Tick! Received! Node recorded Tick!"

San Yue Qi exhales, about to start climbing, when Clockboy continues:

"Tick… Fen Mao, I have something to tell you Tick."

"Hmm?"

"Our recorded Nodes are almost full Tick."

Clockboy's voice carries a hint of embarrassment, "Including the previous ones. But we can only store three at most Tick."

San Yue Qi is stunned.

"Three? So few?!"

"Tick! I'm not some high‑end product, just a clock; being able to store three is already impressive Tick!"

Clockboy's tone carries a hint of grievance, "You rewound so many times before; I almost fell apart, and now being restored like this is already good Tick!"

San Yue Qi scratches her head.

"What to do then? Can we delete?"

"Yes Tick. Which one do you want to delete?"

San Yue Qi thinks for a moment.

"Delete them all. Keep only the earliest one around seven‑something, and the one just recorded."

"Tick! Received! Deleting—Tick! Deletion complete!"

"Done Tick! Fen Mao, take it easy, don't die again Tick!"

San Yue Qi twitches the corner of her mouth.

"Got it!"

San Yue Qi takes a deep breath, places her hand on the wall.

"Madeinheaven!"

Time Acceleration!

The surrounding world instantly slows—distant clouds drift as if frozen, the wind's sway of leaves moves as if in slow motion.

San Yue Qi pushes off with her feet, her whole body like a nimble gecko, clinging to the building's façade and scrambling upward!

She grabs a drainage pipe, plants her foot on the windowsill, and in a couple of moves climbs one floor.

When she reaches the fifth floor, San Yue Qi suddenly slows her pace.

She notices light leaking from the adjacent window, something inside seems to be moving.

San Yue Qi leans in, looking through the glass—

and then she is stunned.

It's a rather cozy room, with a sofa and a dining table, looking like a hotel suite converted into a dwelling.

But the occupant is not human—

It's Monkeys.

A Zong Mao Xiao Hou stands in the center of the room, holding a banana, its expression serious as if performing something sacred.

It stares at the floor ahead, muttering—though the only sound it makes is "Jiaojiao Jiaojiao Jiaojiao Jiaojiao Jiaojiao Jiaojiao".

San Yue Qi blinks.

(What is this Monkeys doing?)

The Zong Mao Xiao Hou suddenly tosses the banana onto the floor, then scratches the ground with its claws, as if drawing something.

(Drawing? Doesn't seem like it…)

An even stranger thing occurs.

The Zong Mao Xiao Hou scratches its own claw, a few drops of monkey blood drip onto the floor.

The floor suddenly glows golden, a complex pattern emerges.

The next second, golden light flashes, and a Jin Mao Xiao Hou materializes out of thin air!

The Jin Mao Xiao Hou holds a banana in its hand.

Its gaze is firm, it opens its mouth and says:

"Jiaojiao Jiaojiao Jiaojiao?"

The Zong Mao Xiao Hou stares blankly, then—

"Jiaojiao! Jiaojiao Jiaojiao Jiaojiao!"

The two Monkeys thus begin a fight over the banana.

San Yue Qi hangs outside the window, her face full of question marks.

(What's happening? What is this Monkeys up to?)

She shakes her head, about to continue climbing, when a corner of her eye catches movement in another window.

She shifts her position, looking toward the adjacent window—

This floor is larger, as if it were converted from a hotel banquet hall.

It is packed with Monkeys, dozens of them big and small.

The most noticeable are three Monkeys: a Zong Mao Xiao Hou, a double‑ponytail Hong Yi Xiao Hou, and a Yin Mao Xiao Hou.

A Yin Mao Xiao Hou stands beside a Gray Giant Ape, which holds a huge banana—no, that shape looks like a stone axe.

The Giant Ape is wrapped in iron chains, looking ferocious.

Zong Mao Xiao Hou and Hong Yi Xiao Hou seem to be confronting Yin Mao Xiao Hou.

Jin Mao Xiao Hou rushed forward to protect Zong Mao Xiao Hou, but the Giant Ape slapped him away, leaving him lying on the ground, barely alive.

San Yue Qi's heart twitched—though she knew they were Monkeys, the scene was still rather tragic.

Then she saw Zong Mao Xiao Hou burst forth with golden light from its chest, the light enveloping Jin Mao Xiao Hou, who miraculously revived at full health on the spot!

San Yue Qi widened her eyes.

(What is this? A monkey version of Saint Seiya?)

She hadn't even reacted when the scene changed again.

Several Monkeys began fighting, using bananas as swords and banana peels as shields, battling furiously.

A Purple Robe Little Monkey wearing a Mask laughed sinisterly in the corner, its twisted grin giving anyone goosebumps—though it was a monkey face, the conspiratorial aura could be smelled through the glass.

San Yue Qi watched for a while and finally reached a conclusion:

(These Monkeys... playing house?)

(No, playing house wouldn't be this serious. What play are they performing?)

(And they're quite invested in it...)

She shook her head and kept climbing upward.

Every floor has windows, and each window contains Monkeys.

The tenth-floor room is Japanese‑style; on the tatami crouches a blue‑furred little monkey, brandishing a black banana into the air.

In front of it stands a dark brown‑furred little monkey, holding two bananas—one black, one white—with a complex expression as if it had just swallowed ten jin of bitter orange.

The two Monkeys stared at each other for a long time, then—

"Jiaojiao Jiaojiao!"

"Banana!"

They started hacking.

San Yue Qi hung outside the window, expressionless, watching this monkey play.

The eleventh floor was even more absurd.

A purple‑furred little monkey was cooking in the kitchen, moving so gracefully it seemed like a performance.

It sliced, diced, and shredded bananas, plating them so exquisitely they could earn a Michelin star.

But behind it stood a purple‑haired little monkey wearing an Eye Mask, expression gloomy as if ready to cause trouble.

The purple‑furred little monkey finished the dish, carried it to the table, then sat there staring blankly.

San Yue Qi looked at the delicate banana dish and suddenly felt a bit hungry.

(This monkey's cooking skills are pretty good...)

The higher she climbed, the more absurd the scenes became.

On one floor, a blue‑clad little monkey was swallowed by a Black Shadow, disappearing before it could even scream.

Next to it, a silver‑haired little monkey was cut down by the same Black Shadow, collapsing into a pool of blood—no, monkeys have no blood, it fell into banana juice.

San Yue Qi's mouth twitched.

(What dark Plot is this?)

On another floor, Jin Mao Xiao Hou underwent Blackening.

Its fur turned black, its Tail drooped, and its once‑steady gaze became gloomy and terrifying.

It wielded an invisible banana sword, attacking its former companions wildly.

Zong Mao Xiao Hou was battered to the ground, but still refused to give up.

San Yue Qi couldn't help but cheer for it in her heart:

(Come on, little Zong Mao Xiao Hou! Don't let the Blackened Jin Mao Xiao Hou defeat you!)

On yet another floor, a gaunt monkey resembling a bald vulture laughed wildly.

That twisted grin reminded San Yue Qi of some unpleasant memories.

(This monkey... laughs like a madman...)
