Vol. 6 Ch. 94
Leon’s face remained unchanged, his expression as calm as ever.
He slowly raised his fist, his palm beginning to shimmer with blue lightning, and spoke in a low voice,
"You don’t need to remind me, Safina. No matter how we’ve gotten along in the past few days, as long as you stand on Samael’s land with thoughts of invasion and plunder... I will not hold back."
Safina seemed to have anticipated Leon’s response.
She smiled lightly, "Then let me see just how strong the person who defeated Shadow and Karl really is."
Leon didn’t exchange any more words with her, instead turning to his black elephant comrade,
"Albert, go over there and help the divine stallion guards and the challengers fight those armored soldiers. I’ll handle things here."
"Are you sure you can manage?" Albert asked.
Leon nodded, "Completely, I can."
"Alright, take care," Albert said, then turned and ran toward another battlefield, leaving Leon and Safina to face off one-on-one.
The two locked eyes, their gazes sharp enough to spark a fire in the air.
In the next moment, Leon was the first to strike.
The attack was as fast as lightning, and in the blink of an eye, he closed the distance to Safina.
But Safina wasn’t about to be like those challengers who had collapsed in the past few days.
She immediately stepped back, and after receiving information from Karl and Talos about Leon’s strength, she still chose to take him on alone—this showed she had confidence.
Leon furrowed his brow slightly, so he held back his attack this time.
A sharp bird’s cry rang out, and lightning wrapped around Leon’s hand, driving straight toward Safina’s face—
The blue light reflected in her eyes, her gaze narrowing and her body following suit.
Safina sidestepped, Leon’s dry bird narrowly missing her hair as it passed by.
Immediately afterward, Safina gathered energy, using the same move to strike toward Leon’s shoulder.
Boom!!
A fiery explosion from the collision of magic erupted before Safina’s eyes.
She was certain that her attack had hit Leon.
But Safina’s brow furrowed as she stared at her right hand, the one she used for the strike, murmuring,
"...The sensation doesn’t feel like it hit flesh..."
As the smoke cleared, Safina looked up to see Leon standing perfectly still, surrounded by a magical skeletal frame made of electric magic.
Super S-Class Lightning Magic · Sumeru’s Shadow · Beginner
"A defensive magic of instant activation? Samael’s people are really creative. But..."
Safina let out a soft grunt, and something seemed to swirl in her purple eyes.
The next moment, purple energy slowly wrapped around her body, forming a protective skeleton identical to Leon’s Sumeru.
Leon was slightly surprised,
"It seems you can not only copy basic magic like body techniques and dry bird, but also high-level magic just by seeing it once."
Safina smiled smugly,
"That’s right. I can do that, better than anyone you've seen."
"But—can you defeat yourself?"
Leon didn’t respond to that question. Instead, he asked,
"Speaking of Karl and Talos, both of them have their own special abilities, and these abilities come from something called 'Void Martial Arts.' So is your Void Martial Art the ability to copy your opponent’s techniques?"
Safina’s copying ability was easy to see through, so she didn’t feel the need to hide it from Leon. She answered directly,
"Yes."
As she spoke, Safina looked into her own eyes,
"Void Martial Arts · Mirror Abyss Eyes."
"Because I was born with a special power, this power can change in countless ways, almost allowing me to do anything I want."
"So, our master granted me these eyes, which can replicate any move of my opponent."
Safina slowly lowered her hand and then resumed her stance,
"I won’t hold back in showing you the ability of the Mirror Abyss Eyes, since it’s really that simple."
"The simpler it is, the harder it is to deal with."
"At least so far, apart from my master and my brother, no one has been able to defeat me head-on."
Hearing this, Leon raised an eyebrow,
"Your brother? I thought that was just a story you made up."
Upon hearing Leon’s words, Safina froze for a moment,
"Your focus is really strange. I spent all this time explaining Mirror Abyss Eyes, and in the end, you care about the story I told."
After a brief pause, Safina softly added,
"Well, that story isn’t something I made up."
"What?"
Safina snorted, shaking her head, and after adjusting her stance slightly, she looked at Leon again,
"Nothing. As you said, Leon, we’re all fighting for our own beautiful future."
With those words, Safina launched her attack.
With the protection of the Sumeru Shadow, her attack became even sharper.
Leon knew that her Mirror Abyss Eyes could perfectly replicate her opponent's moves, so dry bird and Sumeru’s Shadow were no exception.
Since that was the case, he couldn’t force an attack.
After all, Leon understood better than anyone how unpredictable Sumeru’s Shadow could be.
Faced with Safina’s all-out offensive, Leon temporarily chose to defend.
A storm of sharp attacks came crashing toward him, and Leon blocked them all one by one.
"What’s wrong? Not fighting back, Leon? Didn’t you just say you wouldn’t hold back?"
Safina’s punch smashed through Leon’s arm block, and with a follow-up, she slammed her palm into his chest.
A burst of force sent Leon flying several meters.
Leon’s feet hit the ground, leaving two long skid marks before he came to a stop.
"Or is it that, when faced with your own technique, you’re helpless?"
As Safina spoke, she launched her attack again.
This time, her focus was on Leon’s lower body.
But unlike before, she couldn’t easily break through Leon’s defensive stance.
Every angle of her attacks was effortlessly neutralized.
"Since that’s the case… then let me try this!"
Safina twisted her body, taking a step back, then leaped into the air, intending to strike down at Leon from above.
But what she didn’t expect was that Leon was waiting for exactly this moment.
Just as Safina was in mid-air, Leon suddenly shifted his defensive posture, instantly converting it into an offensive stance.
Leon bent down, gathering magic energy, then swung his arm, sending a lightning-formed snake directly at Safina’s spine.
B-Class Lightning Magic · Lightning Sword Transformation into Lightning Snake
"You should know this better than me, Leon."
"This skeletal defense... no attack can harm me."
"Is that so? Well, watch closely."
With that, Leon flicked his wrist, and the direction of the lightning whip changed in an instant, wrapping around Safina’s ankle from an impossible angle.
Safina was startled,
"How... how is that possible?!"
Before she could even break free from the lightning whip, Leon immediately slammed her down onto the ground.
As Safina was thrown to the ground, Leon retracted the whip, planted his right foot, and shot forward like a bullet.
He calculated the angle, the defensive range of the line-shaped Sumeru Shadow, and predicted the lightning burst, sending Safina flying.
After tumbling several times on the ground, Safina finally came to a stop.
She stood up, the Sumeru Shadow around her had been forced to dissipate, and a trickle of blood appeared at the corner of her mouth.
Safina wiped the blood away, looking at Leon in disbelief.
"Replicated techniques are still not your own. You may know the strength of the technique, but you don’t know its fatal weakness."
Leon slowly walked toward Safina, the arc of electricity still crackling in his hand,
"Though the Sumeru Shadow is hard to break through, its lower part is defenseless in its initial form. I deliberately led you to attack from the air, just to steal your position."
"Hmph, though I don’t really want to praise you, to understand your own techniques so thoroughly, you really are a strong opponent."
Safina brushed off the dust from her body, continuing,
"But I didn’t come here just {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} to deal with you."
With that, her gaze swept past Leon’s shoulder and toward the Fire Spirit Divine Stallion behind him. She shouted,
"Talos! Now!"
"What—"
Leon turned to look.
Suddenly, a spatial tear exploded above the Fire Spirit Divine Stallion.
A black figure leaped out from the tear, wielding a giant scythe, and swung it down at the stallion.
The divine stallion guards quickly rushed forward to defend.
But Talos’s attack was exceptionally brutal, and taking advantage of the ambush, he slew several of the guards.
Blood splattered, limbs scattered, and the scene became so gruesome it sent chills down one’s spine.
The Fire Spirit Divine Stallion neighed and immediately retaliated against this brutal invader.
A burst of flames shot from the crystal core on its forehead.
Talos didn’t dodge; instead, he swung his scythe in front of him, opening a gap in the flames.
The Fire Spirit Divine Stallion’s attack struck right into the opening.
But in the next second, without warning, a spatial tear appeared directly above its head!
The earlier flame shot out from the crack and nearly hit the stallion at point-blank range.
"Tch, Samael’s trash."
With that, Talos quickly moved forward and, before the Fire Spirit Divine Stallion could rise, struck down with his scythe.
Boom!!
Blood, mixed with flames, splattered out, followed by a painful cry from the Fire Spirit Divine Stallion.
In just a few seconds, Talos, using his Void Martial Arts, completed the attack and seized the Fire Spirit Crystal Core from the stallion.
He opened a spatial tear and appeared beside Safina, triumphantly tossing the Fire Spirit Crystal Core in the air.
"Easy and fun, right? Not bad, right?"
But Safina didn’t look pleased.
"Didn’t I tell you during the planning to avoid killing? Look at what you’ve done?"
The divine stallion guards had been brutally killed, and the Fire Spirit Divine Stallion lay on the ground, barely alive.
Blood dripped from Talos’s scythe, but he scoffed dismissively and retorted,
"Not killing? Hmph, Samael’s primitives, kill them and it’s done."
"What? Are you feeling some kind of pity?"
"I don’t care about pity, but someone might want to kill you."
"Huh?"
Before Talos could react, he suddenly felt a wave of magical pressure from beside him.
He turned his head to look.
There, in the distance, was a figure holding lightning, walking step by step, stepping through the burning anger and crackling plasma, slowly approaching him—
"Beast, this time, you won’t escape."
"Give me your life... and leave it in Samael!"
