Chapter 1010: Fierce Battle to Save Lives at the Hospital

~10 min read 1,847 words

Lukasi was like a mad dog, ransacking the hospital to find Doctor Liu.

The scum under his command smashed the entire inpatient building to pieces; IV stands were toppled in a jumble, and the crunch of glass shards underfoot was deafening.

Patients were dragged off their beds, their IV needles ripped out while still connected to their veins; those who resisted were stabbed with bayonets and went still on the spot.

Lukasi fired his weapon as he walked, asking everyone he met, "Where is Doctor Liu?"

If the person was even half a beat slow, he would raise his hand and shoot them, then continue his search.

He walked up to a Black nurse, and the woman's lips trembled for a long time, her eyes wide with terror, before she managed to choke out, "I don't know."

Lukasi shot her in the back of the head, the bullet passing through her temple; she slumped to the ground, limp, without even a groan.

A Black male nurse nearby was so terrified his legs went weak, and he pointed a trembling hand toward the warehouse in the Houyuan.

Lukasi raised his muzzle, and the bullet struck the man square in the chest; the nurse clutched his chest, his body slowly sliding down until he curled up on the floor, motionless.

Lukasi and a crowd of men surged toward the large iron door of the warehouse.

He kicked the door panel twice, but the iron door didn't budge, so he roared at the top of his lungs: "Open up! If you don't open it, I'll blow you all to hell!" Inside, there was a deathly silence; there wasn't even an echo.

He turned to look at the windows; each one was welded with iron bars as thick as a thumb, impossible to saw through in a short time.

He shouted at a short white man: "Get the tank over here and ram the door open for me!"

Before long, Abao 2 Tank came charging over with its engine roaring, its cannon barrel pointed straight at the gate.

"Thud—Boom!"

The iron gate was sent flying like a piece of paper, and the tank drove straight into the warehouse, crushing the door panel.

A group of people were huddled in the corner of the warehouse, trembling like chaff in the wind.

Lukasi ordered his soldiers to drag out all the Black male staff and line them up.

He paced back and forth, his voice as cold as a blade: "Whoever identifies Doctor Liu for me, I'll let go. If you don't speak, I'll execute you one by one."

Yet among these people, some were children Doctor Liu had pulled back from the gates of death, and others were patients with terminal illnesses whom Doctor Liu had cured; they all gritted their teeth, and no one made a sound.

Lukasi walked up to the first six people, raised his wrist, and tapped his finger on the watch face: "Three seconds. If you don't speak, you all die." He paused, "Three... two... one—"

Still, no one spoke.

He raised his gun and fired six shots in rapid succession; the six men collapsed one after another like puppets with their strings cut, blood pooling through the cracks in the floor tiles.

He turned and walked toward a Chinese man. The man was in his early fifties, his temples gray, with a pair of glasses perched on his nose; he was none other than the honorary Dean, Lao Zhong.

Lukasi tilted his head, looking him up and down: "Are you Doctor Liu?"

Lao Zhong took a deep breath, stepped forward, and stood with his back straight: "Stop looking. I am Doctor Liu. If you want to arrest someone, arrest me, and let the others go."

No sooner had he finished speaking than a woman in her thirties, tall and beautiful, stood up abruptly: "Stop looking. I am the real Doctor Liu."

Lukasi was stunned for a moment, then turned to Lao Zhong and cursed: "Damn it, trying to fool me?"

Lao Zhong's face turned livid, but he held his ground, saying word by word: "I said, I am Doctor Liu. If you want to kill or torture me—"

Lukasi raised his hand and fired a shot.

The bullet entered Lao Zhong's right side under his ribs; he leaned back, his head hitting the wall with a dull thud.

A patch of crimson the size of a fist instantly bloomed on the front of his white coat, and within a few breaths, the blood spread from his waist to his collar, soaking the entire garment.

He collapsed to the ground, still struggling to breathe, blood bubbles gurgling from his mouth.

"Lao Zhong!" Doctor Liu lunged over, pressing her hands firmly against the wound on his stomach; blood spurted through her fingers, staining her wrists and cuffs bright red.

She suddenly raised her head and glared at Lukasi, her voice trembling but roaring with intensity: "You shoot a doctor? What kind of skill is that! When you get hurt one day, won't you need a doctor? Let me finish the surgery on Lao Zhong, and I'll go with you!"

Lukasi walked over slowly and grinned: "Yo, she really is a pretty dame, damn it."

He reached out to touch Doctor Liu's face, but she kicked him in the groin; Lukasi staggered half a step, the flesh on his face twitching, and he raised his gun to kill her, but stopped halfway.

He sneered: "Just you wait! I'm not leaving today. Tonight, you'll serve our brothers well, and we'll see if you're still this tough tomorrow."

Fire burned in Doctor Liu's eyes: "Beast! You won't have a good end!"

Lukasi jerked his chin at his men: "Take this dame to the operating room, tie her up tight, and I'll perform a 'surgery' on her too."

Two mercenaries went up and grabbed Doctor Liu by the arms.

She struggled desperately and kicked one of them in the crotch; the guy let out a howl and doubled over.

The other mercenary slapped her, and blood immediately seeped from the corner of Doctor Liu's mouth; her ponytail came undone, and her hair covered her face.

The two soldiers dragged her away.

"Bang! Bang!"

Two gunshots rang out almost simultaneously; the heads of the two mercenaries holding Doctor Liu exploded, splattering blood and brain matter all over her.

The two men slumped to the ground like piles of mud.

Lukasi shrank his neck in fear and hid behind the tank with his Bodyguard.

He Yuzhu held a Pistol in each hand, firing in quick succession; "Bang, bang, bang, bang..." Every shot was a headshot, and before the mercenaries could react, they fell in rows like harvested wheat.

Just as Lukasi reached for the holster at his waist, He Yuzhu shot him in the shoulder, and his entire arm went limp, unable to muster any strength.

He Yuzhu stepped forward, grabbed him by the back of the head, and pressed the muzzle against his temple; just as he was about to pull the trigger, Lao Zhong, lying on the ground, spoke intermittently: "Don't... don't kill him... there are still many people outside... use him as a hostage..."

He Yuzhu had been blinded by bloodlust and hadn't cared who the man was, but hearing Lao Zhong say this, he realized this bastard was the leader. He shifted his muzzle slightly.

Doctor Liu ran over, panting, and asked: "Are you... sent by the country to rescue us?"

He Yuzhu nodded: "That's right. With me here, you don't need to be afraid."

Doctor Liu said urgently: "Lao Zhong has been shot... the surgery must be finished."

He Yuzhu nodded decisively: "No problem. I'll handle the people outside."

Doctor Liu glanced behind him: "How many men did you bring?"

He Yuzhu grinned: "I'm a one-man army, just me."

Lao Zhong lay in a pool of blood, his voice as faint as if it were drifting up from the ground: "Forget about me... you go..."

He Yuzhu shook his head helplessly: "I said do it, so do it quickly. Stop talking nonsense."

After saying this, he stopped talking and slammed a fist into the back of Lukasi's head, knocking him unconscious on the spot.

He quickly stripped the military uniform off a nearby corpse of similar build, put it on himself, then fished a few tubes of greasepaint from his pocket and smeared them messily over his face, neck, and arms, turning into a dark-skinned "Black man" in the blink of an eye.

He picked up a military cap, slapped it onto his head, hoisted Lukasi onto his shoulder, and strode toward the exit.

Everyone in the warehouse was dumbfounded—this person's reactions were absurdly fast, and his movements were terrifyingly efficient.

He Yuzhu carried Lukasi and rushed out of the warehouse door, just as a First Team charged in through the hospital's main entrance; seeing Lukasi being carried, they swarmed over with a clamor.

He Yuzhu estimated the distance was about right, moved his mind, and that team vanished into thin air, all of them collected by him into the space.

He glanced left and right, saw no one had noticed this side, chuckled, and continued running outward with the person on his shoulder.

Inside the warehouse, several people scrambled to carry Lao Zhong toward the operating room.

Doctor Liu went in and saw the room in a mess, the instrument cabinet overturned on the floor, and medicine bottles shattered everywhere.

She couldn't care about anything else, stepped over the broken glass shards to go inside, rummaged through the corner to find surgical instruments, and pulled anesthesia and gauze from another cabinet.

She called out to two assistants: "Xiao Li, Xiao Wang, assist me, we are performing surgery on Lao Zhong!"

The operating room door slammed shut. Lao Zhong lay on the operating table, his body beginning to convulse, his lips blue and purple.

Xiao Wang said anxiously: "The hospital blood bank is empty, we must find someone to draw blood first."

"Dean Zhong and I are both type O, draw mine!" Xiao Wang rolled up his sleeves.

Doctor Liu gritted her teeth: "Fine, you administer the anesthesia to him first, once the anesthesia is done, I will draw your blood!"

On the other side, He Yuzhu carried Lukasi and charged all the way out.

Encountering another patrol squad, he simply ignored everything else; as long as they got close, he would raise his hand and collect them into the space, and those he didn't collect were dealt with by a gunshot—he never showed mercy to these murderous demons.

He actually charged all the way to the small plaza where the tanks were parked—six Bao 2 Tanks were lined up in a row, and two armed helicopters with rotors hanging low sat there quietly.

A group of mercenaries saw the Big Boss being carried over and ran over one after another to ask about the situation.

He Yuzhu looked at them as if looking at a group of dead men.

Suddenly, a mercenary shouted: "Watch out, it's a trap!"
