Chapter 1039: Dead People in the Shipping Container

~8 min read 1,434 words

Following the secret signal and procedure provided by Wu Dajun, He Yuzhu successfully transported the shipping container into Tanggu Port.

The container did not sit in the yard for long before someone started a crane and steadily hoisted it onto the ship's deck.

He Yuzhu followed closely behind those people and, taking advantage of a moment when no one was paying attention, quietly slipped onto the cargo ship. He quickly found the ship based on the markings he had made.

At dusk, the freighter sounded its low, long-drawn-out whistle, slowly pulled away from the berth, and turned to head toward the open sea.

Once the ship had completely entered international waters, He Yuzhu saw two men walk to the cargo hold and skillfully use a crane to open the lid.

When the two saw that there were five corpses in the container, they were stunned on the spot.

One of them shouted at the top of his lungs: "Lao Zhou, wasn't it agreed that we were transporting five people to Japan? How are they all dead? How are we supposed to answer to the higher-ups for this!"

Lao Zhou frowned, stared at the corpses for a long time, and finally sighed heavily: "Lao Sun, dead is dead. We'll report it truthfully; there's nothing more we can do about it."

Lao Sun rubbed his face, his voice low and tight: "But will that little Japanese believe us? Don't let him pin the whole account on us two when the time comes."

Lao Zhou's expression sank, and he said: "Believe it or not, what can we do? Things are already like this; we have no way out."

Lao Sun gritted his teeth and said: "Lao Zhou, you're right. It wasn't us who did it, so why should we take the fall? Let's call them now and tell them; believe it or not, it's up to them."

As Lao Sun spoke, he took out a Satellite Phone from his pocket. Just as his finger pressed the button, He Yuzhu suddenly flashed out from the shadows, sticking to their backs like a shadow, and with a strike of his palm, he knocked both of them unconscious to the ground in two swift motions.

When Lao Zhou and Lao Sun woke up again, they found that they had been moved to an empty warehouse.

As soon as the two opened their eyes, they saw He Yuzhu squatting in front of them, staring at them with a half-smile.

The two were scared out of their wits; they opened their mouths for a long time, but couldn't utter a single word.

He Yuzhu spoke unhurriedly: "Are you working for the people of M Country? Do you know what kind of people you are transporting?"

Lao Zhou shivered all over and hurriedly waved his hands: "We are just ordinary sailors, always running the route from Tanggu to Tokyo, and we carry some contraband on the side."

"Does the contraband include people?" He Yuzhu's eyes scraped over them like knives.

Lao Zhou and Lao Sun exchanged a look, and Lao Sun hurriedly took over the conversation: "Our ship usually helps Japanese companies transport goods..."

The two of them, one after another, spilled the whole story of this job in a jumble of words.

It turned out that the ship's destination was a dual-use military and civilian port near Tokyo, and after arriving, people sent by the M Country side would take the entire container away.

Lao Zhou and Lao Sun's job was simple enough—while the ship was sailing on the sea, they would let the people out of the container for air and lock them back in when they were about to dock.

Upon arriving at the Japanese port, the container would be taken away directly by the US Military.

The two were not stupid; from the moment they saw He Yuzhu, they understood in their hearts: the five dead people in the box were, in all likelihood, killed by the man in front of them. But no one dared to point that out.

After listening to them, He Yuzhu nodded: "If you want to live, keep your mouths shut tight. Hand it over just as you usually do. Whoever leaks the news on this ship will lose their head immediately."

Upon hearing this, Lao Zhou and Lao Sun nodded like chickens pecking at rice: "Sir... we really didn't know what kind of people were being transported; we just treated it... treated it as a business deal..."

He Yuzhu waved his hand, his tone softening: "I won't make things difficult for you."

Lao Zhou swallowed his saliva and cautiously asked again: "But if those five bodies start to stink, the Japanese will definitely smell it!"

He Yuzhu stood up and smiled: "You don't need to worry about these things."

Lao Zhou and Lao Sun followed He Yuzhu's instructions to close the iron door of the container and lock it, then stood in front of He Yuzhu with their necks hunched.

"Don't worry about it, go back and do what you need to do, and don't worry about me!" He Yuzhu said.

The lights in the lounge were buzzing, the light was deathly pale, leaving no color on the faces of the two men.

Lao Zhou closed the door first, scanned both ends of the corridor, then leaned close to Lao Sun and asked in a low voice: "Tell me... how exactly did that person get on the ship?"

Lao Sun leaned against the iron wall and kept shaking his head: "Never mind how he got on... he killed all five of those people; this kind of person is not someone we can afford to provoke."

Lao Zhou's eyes were a bit unfocused, and after a long silence, he asked: "Are we really going to do as he said?"

Lao Sun turned his head abruptly and glared at him fiercely: "Do you want to die? If you go against a person like that, you definitely won't live past tomorrow."

Lao Zhou muttered: "But what about Murayama Fuji... how do we answer to him?"

"After we hand the container to him, we run! I heard that place called Myanmar is very chaotic; as long as you get in, no one cares what you did before."

He Yuzhu stood silently outside the door, hearing the conversation inside clearly.

He felt that this Lao Sun was a sensible person, and it wasn't worth it to kill someone like that.

He made up his mind: as long as the two of them honestly handed over the container as usual, he would spare them, and might even give them some money.

Five days later, the freighter docked steadily at Yokohama Port in Tokyo. Lao Zhou and Lao Sun got off the ship and found Murayama Fuichi, with whom they often dealt.

Before getting off the ship, He Yuzhu found them and gave them fifty thousand US dollars each, saying: "Never speak of this for the rest of your lives, otherwise I will find you no matter where you go."

"I'll listen to you!" Lao Sun said happily as he took the money.

They arrived at the pier, and Murayama Fuichi met the two there.

He used stiff Chinese to exchange pleasantries with them: "Lao Zhou, Lao Sun, was there anything unusual on the way?"

Lao Zhou smiled until his face wrinkled like a chrysanthemum and waved his hands repeatedly: "Mr. Murayama, to tell you the truth, these people were all lively and kicking; they even asked me for playing cards along the way and played poker the whole time."

Lao Sun also smiled apologetically on the side, but opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something but stopped.

Murayama Fuichi looked at him with burning eyes: "If you have something to say, just say it."

Lao Sun hesitated for a moment and said: "Mr. Murayama, I always feel... that this channel is no longer safe."

Murayama Fuichi glared: "This is the safest line, how could it not be safe?"

Lao Sun lowered his voice: "If you keep using the same line, can it always be safe?"

After hearing this, Murayama Fuichi nodded thoughtfully: "Lao Sun, what you said makes sense. It really should be changed in the future."

As he spoke, he looked the two up and down a few times, then took a small bag from his bosom and handed it over as their reward.

The two took it, nodding and bowing happily, thanking him repeatedly.

Murayama Fuichi waved his hand and said nothing more. He immediately let several M Country men transport the container away.
