Chapter 1040: The Price of Lying
Taking advantage of the chaotic loading and unloading at the pier, He Yuzhu seized an opening, slithered like a loach onto the support frame of the truck chassis, and immediately entered his own space.
The truck drove for nearly an hour before entering an air force base. He Yuzhu had been to this place before and had even blown up the aircraft here.
This truck had a special pass, so none of the base's security guards dared to stop it.
The truck finally stopped inside a large warehouse.
As soon as the truck came to a steady stop, several M Country soldiers jumped down and hurried away; they seemed to have no desire at all to know what was being transported inside.
At this moment, He Yuzhu also quietly slipped out from under the truck chassis, hid himself behind some large wooden crates in a corner, held his breath, and stared silently.
Not long after, the warehouse door opened again, and a dozen people swarmed in, followed by a small crane.
This group was quite skilled; the crane steadily lifted the container off the truck and set it down flat, then several people stepped forward and worked together to unscrew the iron door of the container.
As soon as the door swung open, everyone was stunned—inside lay five corpses, scattered in disarray, their bodies ice-cold and long devoid of any sign of life.
A short, bald man was the first to react; he turned his head and shouted to a tall white man beside him, "Mr. Robert, the people on the cargo ship said they were lively, playing cards and chatting the whole way. How did they all die once they got on this truck?"
Robert Dale raised his hand and slapped him across the face, sending the short man staggering half a step, and cursed, "Sato, you damn piece of trash! You can't even transport a few people without them arriving as corpses! Hurry up and investigate which link went wrong! Hurry and catch everyone involved in this matter—no, you should catch the entire crew of that ship and bring them back for interrogation!"
Sato clutched half his face and nodded heavily, "I'll handle it immediately!" Saying this, he took out his phone and dialed Murayama Fuji's number. As soon as the call connected, his tone was as fierce as if he wanted to eat someone: "Murayama, what the hell did you do? There are five corpses in the container!"
On the other end of the line, Murayama Fuji was clearly panicked, his voice changing pitch: "That's impossible! Lao Zhou and Lao Sun swore to me that those people were still playing cards the whole way!"
Sato Kenji let out a cold snort, gritted his teeth, and said, "These Huaxia people are completely untrustworthy! I told you long ago not to keep using one line to transport such important people, but you just wouldn't listen!"
Murayama Fuji was so anxious he slapped the table, seemingly cursing his subordinates, "You few go and catch Lao Zhou and Lao Sun right now! Bring them back and interrogate them properly!"
Sato Kenji sneered mockingly, "Your brain is seriously broken! People who tell such lies—can you even find them? They've long since run off without a trace!"
On the other end of the line, Murayama Fuji was already exasperated, slamming his hand on the desk and roaring at his subordinates, "Bring me everyone from that ship! No, hurry to the airport, to the pier..."
Listening to Murayama's hysteria on the phone, Sato shook his head helplessly and hung up. He walked with his head down to Robert Dale: "I'm sorry, there was a slip-up on my end. If you ask me... it was the Shadow from Huaxia who made a move."
Upon hearing this, Robert Dale's expression changed drastically, his pupils shrank, and he immediately ordered, "We must evacuate at once!"
Unfortunately, it was already too late—before his words had even faded, a person appeared behind him.
He Yuzhu was already standing behind them, hands in his pockets, a playful smirk on his lips, "You've done all sorts of evil in Huaxia, and you still wanted these five people to return alive? You're dreaming."
Robert Dale whipped his head around, his whole body freezing in place as if struck by lightning. Because He Yuzhu hadn't used any makeup this time, he remembered that face clearly. He pointed at He Yuzhu, his finger trembling: "You... you are Shadow?"
He Yuzhu tilted his head, his tone indifferent: "You know who I am? You must be with the CIA, right?"
Robert Dale did not deny it, smiling bitterly as he spread his hands: "I know, meeting you, I won't be leaving today... why don't we negotiate a deal."
"I don't do deals." He Yuzhu's voice was not loud, but it was extremely ruthless, "I am going to kill everyone who planned this, leaving none behind. I really don't know if the people of your country are stupid, or if your system is just foolish? You provoke me time and time again, and you stumble time and time again—how can you not learn your lesson?"
Robert Dale stared at him for several seconds, then suddenly laughed, his laughter carrying a hint of self-mockery: "Mr. Shadow, I won't hide it from you. Actually, the people who planned this aren't politicians, but a joint effort by several pharmaceutical companies."
He Yuzhu laughed heartily after hearing this: "Planned by pharmaceutical companies, but wasn't it still your CIA people who carried it out?"
Robert Dale spread his hands, looking indifferent: "Our country exists to serve these conglomerates. In front of these conglomerates, we are insignificant... our system is just like this."
He Yuzhu gave a light "Oh" and nodded: "You're quite blunt about it. Fine, give me the list of people who planned this, and I'll give you a quick end."
Just as the two were talking, the two bodyguards beside Robert Dale moved—their actions as fast as a conditioned reflex, quickly drawing their guns, the dark muzzles aimed at the back of He Yuzhu's head.
It was as if He Yuzhu had eyes in the back of his head; in a flash, he spun around, striking left and right, his two fists smashing out like lightning, directly breaking the two arms holding the guns.
The two pistols flew out of their hands into the air, spinning as they fell.
He immediately followed up with two whip kicks, and with two dull thuds of "Bang" and "Bang," both men collapsed to the ground, passing out instantly and lying motionless.
Robert Dale opened his mouth, wanting to explain something, but He Yuzhu waved his hand and took him, along with the others on the ground, straight into his space.
He Yuzhu was in no rush to leave; he stayed in the warehouse for a long time, waiting until the sky gradually turned dark.
He had originally thought that someone would soon discover Robert Dale was missing and come looking, which would have been a chance to catch them too, but he waited until it was pitch black, and there wasn't even a footstep outside the warehouse.
Later, he thought about it and felt relieved—although this was an M Country air force base, Robert Dale was CIA, doing shady business, and the people at the base had always turned a blind eye, only providing a transit warehouse.
Taking advantage of this time, He Yuzhu swept all the weapons, ammunition, aircraft parts, and even several engines in the warehouse into his space in one go.
He hadn't done this kind of "porter" work for a long time; this time, he might as well take advantage of the situation and bring a big gift back to Liu Xiaohua and the others' Military Factory.
Next was He Yuzhu's standard procedure—he snuck through the dark to the tarmac and hangars, placing a small Timed Bomb on almost every aircraft.
After finishing this, he found a truck leaving the base and snuck out with it.
He got off halfway, found a desolate beach, and released Robert.
As soon as Robert Dale opened his eyes, he saw He Yuzhu standing in front of him, the sea breeze whipping his clothes.
Robert smiled bitterly, his voice filled with an indescribable despondency: "I always heard people discussing how capable you are behind your back, but I never believed it. By the time I believed it, the outcome could no longer be changed."
He chuckled self-mockingly, "Mr. Shadow, don't you find it sad? You have to keep fighting against our people over and over again... if you want to kill me, then do it."
"Who is your superior? Where is he now?" He Yuzhu stared at him coldly, "If you tell me, I'll give you a quick end; otherwise, you will die in great pain."
Robert Dale was silent for a few seconds, a strange smile tugging at the corner of his mouth: "I won't lie to you, the CIA East Asia Bureau Chief is at the Xinsanwang Hotel today; he came specifically to meet these five people. I was supposed to bring them over at five o'clock, but it's already nine... you've failed this time too; perhaps he has already boarded a plane and left."
A cold glint flashed from the Dagger in He Yuzhu's hand, and with a "pfft," it plunged into his thigh.
Robert let out a shrill scream, collapsing to the ground instantly, his hands clutching the wound tightly.
"The price for lying to me is making you wish you were dead." Before He Yuzhu's words had finished, another blade plunged into his other thigh.
Robert was sweating profusely from the pain, his face twisted, and he hurriedly roared: "Lies... it was a lie! He won't leave! He still has to meet the King of Japan tomorrow!"
Only then did He Yuzhu retract his blade, the corner of his mouth curling up as he said slowly, "Fine, then write it down for me—his specific address, which room is he staying in?"
