Chapter 1041: Can We Still Talk?

~8 min read 1,524 words

Robert was just about to blurt out the hotel room number of the new CIA Bureau Chief in East Asia—

Boom, boom, boom!

A series of explosions tore through the night sky, shaking the entire earth.

The explosions came one after another; the Yokota Air Base was destroyed.

Flames shot into the sky, dyeing the entire Tokyo sky blood-red.

Robert whipped his head around, staring fixedly at He Yuzhu, his fingers trembling as he pointed at him: "Did... did you do this?"

The corners of He Yuzhu's mouth curled up slightly, revealing a half-smile: "Whoever provokes me, I won't let them have an easy time. Not just the person who provoked me, but any place associated with them, I'll clean up as well."

Robert's face turned ashen: "Do you know what this means? Huaxia and us, we will go to war."

He Yuzhu laughed softly: "If I really wanted to play big, I could leave your entire country without even ashes left. But me, I'm soft-hearted; I can't bring myself to do that kind of thing."

Robert was stunned, his face full of disbelief, staring fixedly at him: "You... do you really have this ability?"

He Yuzhu glanced out the window: "A few hours of preparation, and an air base was reduced to ruins. How much ability do you think I have?"

Robert was silent for a long while, then asked with a dry throat: "Then... why didn't you do it?"

He Yuzhu laughed, his smile carrying a touch of self-deprecation and a touch of sincerity: "To put it plainly, I'm just too soft-hearted. You guys went too far this time—spreading viruses everywhere, harming so many people, and then turning around and pinning the blame on us, making it look like we created this virus."

Robert's pupils contracted sharply: "That virus laboratory near Kiev... was that you who bombed it too?"

He Yuzhu nodded: "Are you dying to know why I knew about it?"

Robert nodded.

"You guys originally planned to get that thing to Somalia, so that our delegation would fall victim to it."

Robert's voice changed pitch: "How could you possibly know... about something like this?"

He Yuzhu replied slowly: "If you don't want people to know, don't do it in the first place. The Commander you bribed was sent away by my own hands."

Robert was completely speechless. He stared at He Yuzhu as if seeing him for the first time: "With such great capability, you actually... let us lead you by the nose all this time?"

He Yuzhu shook his head: "It's not that I let you lead me by the nose; it's just that I've always felt that while the people who formulate your strategies are scoundrels, many of your ordinary citizens are still decent."

Robert was stunned for a moment, then gave a bitter laugh, "You have such great ability, yet you don't go around harming others... honestly, you are the most patient person I have ever met in my life."

He Yuzhu waved his hand, smiling more casually: "Don't butter me up. I'll say this—those who spread the virus, those who plotted to kill Doctor, one by one, none of them will get away."

Robert was already on the verge of fainting from excessive blood loss.

When He Yuzhu picked up the Dagger again, Robert couldn't hold on, couldn't hold on any longer, and said: "I'll talk, he is in the presidential suite on the sixteenth floor of the Xinsanwang Hotel; he has booked the entire floor. There are over forty Bodyguards. It's impossible for an ordinary person to get near him, but you are not an ordinary person."

He Yuzhu grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth: "Robert, are you complimenting me?"

Robert nodded, not denying it.

He Yuzhu looked up at him, suddenly softening his tone, and asked: "What is the name of your new Bureau Chief? What kind of person is he?"

"Martin. He's alright, he just likes women!"

"Why are you lying to me!" He Yuzhu asked.

"I've been in the CIA for so many years; betraying a superior doesn't do my family any good," Robert said.

Hearing this, He Yuzhu laughed out loud: "You understand life better than many people from M Country."

He Yuzhu did not hesitate at all, directly taking Robert into his space, and turned to head toward the Xinsanwang Hotel.

By the time he arrived at the place and looked up—good heavens, this formation was truly not small.

Looking around, over a thousand people had surrounded the hotel airtight, with a sentry every three steps and a guard every five, their gun barrels gleaming coldly under the lights.

It turned out that Martin, the new Bureau Chief of the CIA East Asia Bureau, had completely panicked after the airport explosion. He had realized that disaster was imminent, and with Robert not arriving at the agreed time, he felt that disaster was imminent. He therefore called in a large number of troops to guard the hotel. He had originally intended to meet with the Japanese Foreign Minister, but he had canceled it all.

Bureau Chief Martin simply called over an officer from the Garrison and had him scout out a popular Japanese actress, bringing her directly into the hotel to fool around and pass the time, to wear down the fear in his heart.

He Yuzhu circled to the perimeter of the Xinsanwang Hotel to observe carefully and found that it was a sixteen-story building, built quite grandly, but the perimeter not only had high walls but was also strung with coils of sharp barbed wire; it didn't look like a foreign-related hotel open to the public at all.

After pondering for a moment, he understood—this place was actually meant for M Country's own people; whenever high-ranking military officials or government dignitaries came to Tokyo on business, they basically stayed here, and outsiders couldn't get in at all.

Looking at the swarming guards before him, He Yuzhu secretly calculated: wanting to approach Martin silently, while not easy, was not impossible. However, this time he wanted to pull off something spectacular, to let them know—do too many evil deeds, and sooner or later you have to pay.

He immediately moved his mind and said to the system in his head: "System, look, the hotel ahead isn't that far. If I teleport directly into that presidential suite on the sixteenth floor, shouldn't it be cheaper?"

The system's voice remained flat, but the sense of dissatisfaction in its wording could not be hidden: "Host, I have discussed this with you many times. Whether you walk one kilometer or ten thousand kilometers after opening the Gate of Time, the essence is exactly the same. I hope you will not try to bargain with me every time."

He Yuzhu curled his lips, too lazy to nag further: "Fine, fine, fine, just teleport me to the sixteenth-floor presidential suite, deduct the money."

As soon as the words fell, the system's voice immediately became sweet, as if its mouth had been smeared with honey—He Yuzhu had long ago figured out the system's temper; as long as money was deducted, it would immediately become incredibly gentle; usually, if there was no income, that tone was cold enough to freeze someone to death, as if it also had KPI assessments.

Opening his eyes again, He Yuzhu was already standing steadily in the presidential suite. The room was indeed luxuriously decorated, with thick handmade carpets on the floor and a crystal chandelier hanging from the dome, looking like it was piled with gold. In the corner, the sound system was playing upbeat jazz, and the forty-something Martin was holding a Japanese woman, dancing with unsteady steps, his hands not idle as he groped around.

He Yuzhu stepped forward, his palm falling, and directly knocked the Japanese woman unconscious. Only then did he turn to look at Martin, a smile hanging on the corner of his mouth: "Mr. Martin, quite free, aren't you? The air base has been bombed like that, and you still have the heart to play with women here?"

Martin looked up, and seeing it was He Yuzhu, his pupils contracted sharply—the way He Yuzhu stood before him was no different from the Grim Reaper. He instinctively reached for the service pistol in his back pocket; although the movement was fast, in He Yuzhu's eyes, it was as slow as slow motion. He kicked Martin's hand, and Martin's wrist immediately lost all sensation.

"You want to draw a gun with that speed?" He Yuzhu said contemptuously.

Martin froze for two seconds, then immediately covered his head with both hands: "Mr. He... can we sit down and talk this over?"

He Yuzhu laughed and said: "Robert is actually quite a good guy. At first, when I asked him for your address, he refused to say where you were, but in the end, he couldn't withstand my methods..."

Martin was stunned for a moment, his lips moved, but he didn't speak.

"Nothing to say?" He Yuzhu asked with a smile.

After a moment of silence, Martin shook his head helplessly, his voice dry: "Mr. He... can we still talk?"
